Driver Blames Speeding on Bad Oreo Dunk

SALISBURY — Police say a man's excuse for speeding through a small Connecticut town takes the cake — or, at least, the cookie.

A state trooper who stopped the 1993 BMW last fall says its driver, 28-year-old Justin Vonkummer of Millerton, N.Y., blamed his driving problems on an errant Oreo.

Vonkummer told the trooper that an Oreo had just slipped from his fingers as he dunked it in a cup of milk, and that he was trying to fish it out when he lost control of his car.

Prosecutors learned in court this week that Vonkummer had been charged with speeding and driving under a suspended license — not driving under the influence, as a clerk had mistakenly noted in the court records.

Vonkummer's attorney declined to comment. The case is pending.

This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

Oreos ARE important. I DO think he could have made alternate dunking arrangements so that his oreos would be safer.

Hahaha! This really does take the cookie. his incident actually brings up a very weird memory from my childhood This guy claims that he was speeding because he dropped his Oreo into his milk and he was trying to fish it out, well some guy drove through my yard taking out a bunch of my neigbors bushes and finally crash landing into the swale on the side of my drive way. His reasoning, he dropped his chicken nuggets and he was trying to get them before the 3 second rule expired. Classy, I know, lol. These two numb nut morons should be given a medal in the form of a big fat ticket. The other handy thing is that both of their licenses were suspended. Neither of these two buffons should have been driving in the first place! The thing that really chaps my ass is that this guys case is pending. The judge should have put him in jail, I don't care what his reasoning was, he was driving when he had a suspended license. Where is the problem here with the decision making? This should have been a no brainer. I guess the moral of the story is dont eat and drive, especially when you have a suspended license, or be a jackass and do it anyways like these two fine examples.
