WASHINGTON — Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Rodham Clinton is sketching an agenda for her first 100 days in office that includes the beginning of a troop withdrawal from Iraq and signing legislation that President Bush vetoed.
The New York senator said Tuesday, "In short, starting from Day One, the Bush-Cheney era will be over in name and in practice."
Looking beyond the competitive race for the Democratic nomination, she also said that within 100 days of becoming president, she would ask Congress to reverse some of Bush's tax cuts, tackle global warming and urge Canada and Mexico to renegotiate NAFTA.
Clinton made her remarks in an appearance before newspaper editors at their annual convention.
He has owned up to it and explained further what he said, and he was right in saying it. What he said made perfect sense to me as it appears to have made perfect sense to many Americans.
Why is it all of a sudden that people are so shocked when they hear the truth? The "bitter" statements, the Rev. Wright statements, etc. All of the remarks (no matter how they were worded) were true.
Can America not handle hearing the truth anymore? What happened to being honest with the American people and having to tell them things that they may not want to hear?
Agreed, it's nice to know she's pushing her spin this far. Guess she needs it after her recent liescapade.
I have to slide into the Amen Corner on your commentary. The sheer nerve of this Elitist (H.C) to stoop as low as to call Senator Obama on his remarks, is just 'remarkable' to me.
This only goes to show you how both Washington Insiders, Hillary and McCain are so far out of touch with the angry and bitterness of the American People on this War in Iraq/Iran, Health-Care, Homeless Vet's, Vet's returning to unequipped medical centers, Education, and our Jobs being shipped overseas, because of Hillary's NAFTA project and the governments disconnect with the people!
Wow, and to 'Spin' it like the American People are just ignorant peasants in their little Kingdom, is just down right arrogant and pompous, I know, right down Hillary's ally!
Taking about no place to put their hands....guys, just rest easy and place them on your hips until you've given thought about making a fool of yourselves to the whole country!
Taking about desperate...
Tell me, why is the corporate media, and AP writers echoing this superficial rot? Why is the "bitter" truth, reality, always manipulated by its class ideologues, by both class parties, as the political class sliced and diced into splinters? When class ideologues, who by definition are already duplicitious, through their class views and standards, lecturing endlessly on small empirical differences, whose only goal is to distort the whole picture, and have no business lecturing to the public about statements that obviously are true, pretending they in fact are not true.
Such microscopic splinters of hypocrisy, by a class that by its own ideological propaganda, the corporate press, convinced 70 percent of the soldiers that Iraq attacked the U.S. on 9/11
Does the corporate media with its lies, and deception and failure to inform the public, even have a right to lecture, or the two class parties, that both voted for the illegal aggression, that involved far larger principles of duplicitiy and war crimes, which never get discussed by it class elites, political class, and corporate media, the propaganda arm for class Empire. If you want to talk about duplicity, hypocrisy, then start with that, not the truthful comments that the rural voter, blue collar voter in their whole embraced the lies of the Corporate media, that shows the parochial backwardness and division created by liars, like NBC, ABC, CBS, CNBC, MSNBC, FOX, including so called Public radio, which warmongered, and were cheerleaders for Amerikan Empire.
Shame of Hillary for being the class opportunist shill she has always been, hypcocritical and criminal like the corporate media, the White House, and the Congress, in their role as ideological class liars.
Can America not handle hearing the truth anymore? What happened to being honest with the American people and having to tell them things that they may not want to hear?
Yep! I couldn't agree more. What America needs now is more Unchoreographed Barak!
No, what America needs now is for its citizens to learn how to @!$%#ing spell.
Oooh the grammar nazis are coming out of the woodworks, ready to bite your butt on every mistake! lol
No, actually. I was making fun of gpnavoniod because he spells it wrong every time.
It's likely intentional.
I was making fun of gpnavoniod because he spells it wrong every time
Say what you want, Henry, but spell the name right.
Avoid the Noid!!
How's the weather in Japan, Henry?
You were saying what "you think" America needs?
Why don't you ask around there?
Do call... and tell us.
I was making fun of gpnavoniod

Still having trouble, Henry?
Fe
Did she do to Dunder Mifflin?
Maybe she can't remember what he said after it. I mean she can't remember if she was shot at by snipers or not. So a little thing like going back and speaking on something could easily slip a senile mind.
Maybe I'd trust Hillary a lot more if she finally dumped Bill.
He's been asking for it--especially during this campaign.
He knows she'd probably surpass him in the history books since it's likely there'll be a strong Democratic Congress behind her (if she somehow managed to win the nomination and get elected), unlike the obstructionist impeachment-crazed old fart GOPers during most of his own somewhat disgraceful, often chaotic turncoat terms in office.
So it's not entirely surprising that he subconsciously envies her prospective achievements and lets slip statements that serve to undermine her campaign.
Perhaps he's not being intentionally malicious. Persons who have undergone coronary bypass surgery not infrequently exhibit judgment and memory problems.
Whatever medication he might take for his condition might also be a factor.
(Why are all the Clinton fanatics in denial about the real record of those years.? Okay…so there was a generalized prosperity and peace. We'll credit him with that. But the failed Healthcare initiative, NAFTA, the rollback in the federal guarantee to public assistance for mainly women and children (an attack on the Social Security Act), telecommunications deregulation, etc. were all dubious accomplishments from a progressive/social-democratic POV.)

Good point gp!.....after all, you were just about to show us a "more perfect" administration.....or were you?
THE CLINTON-GORE ECONOMIC RECORD:
WHAT A DIFFERENCE SEVEN YEARS MAKES
June 26, 2000
After seven and a half years, the results of President Clinton and Vice President Gore's economic leadership for the American people are clear. In 1992, when Bill Clinton was elected President, the American economy was barely creating jobs and wages were stagnant. His bold, three-part economic strategy focused on establishing fiscal discipline; investing in education, health care, science and technology; and opening foreign markets so that American workers have a fair chance to compete abroad. Seven and a half years later the results of this strategy are clear:
Deficits Replaced By Surpluses: Keeping Us On Track to Be Debt Free by 2012
1992. The deficit was $290 billion – the highest dollar level in history. When President Clinton took office, the Congressional Budget Office projected the deficit would grow to $455 billion in 2000.
Today. In 1999, we had a budget surplus of $124 billion – the largest dollar surplus on record. This year the Administration forecasts a surplus of $211 billion. This is $666 billion less drain by the government on private financial markets than projected when President Clinton and Vice President Gore took office. With the President's plan, we are now on track to eliminate the nation's publicly held debt by 2012. Jobs Are Up: 22 Million Created Since January 1993
1981-1992. During President Clinton and Vice President Bush's three terms combined, the economy created only 18.5 million new jobs, despite the growth of the labor force from the maturation of the baby boom. Only 2.5 million jobs were created under President Bush, with nearly half of them in the public sector.
Today. The economy has created 22.2 million new jobs since January 1993. This is the most jobs ever created under a single President. There has been an average of 255,000 jobs created per month -- a faster rate than under any President. And 19.9 million of the new jobs were created in the private sector, the highest share since Harry Truman was President (excluding temporary Census workers). Faster Economic Growth: 3.9 Percent Per Year
1981-1992. The economy grew an average 1.7 percent per year under President Bush and 2.8 percent per year during the Reagan-Bush years.
Today. Since President Clinton and Vice President Gore took office, growth has averaged 3.9 percent per year. Private-Sector Growth Is Up: 4.5 Percent Per Year
1981-1992. The private sector of the economy grew 2.9 percent annually from 1981-1992.
Today. The private sector of the economy has grown 4.5 percent annually since 1993. Equipment and Software Investment Is Growing Faster Than Ever
1981-1992. Real equipment and software investment rose just 3.8 percent annually during the previous Administration, and only 4.7 percent annually for the entire Reagan-Bush period.
Today. Real equipment and software investment is up 12.6 percent per year under President Clinton -- faster than any Administration on record. We have seen seven consecutive years of double-digit growth in equipment and software investment, for the first time on record. Government Spending: Lowest in Over Three Decades
1981-92. Under Presidents Reagan and Bush, Federal government spending as a share of the economy increased from 21.6 percent in 1980 to 22.2 percent in 1992.
Today. Under President Clinton, Federal government spending as a share of the economy has been cut from 22.2 percent in 1992 to a projected 18.5 percent in 2000 -- its lowest level since 1966. Taxes for Typical Families: Lowest in Over Two Decades
1981-92. The total Federal tax rate for middle-income families rose from 23.7 percent in 1980 to 24.5 percent in 1992. (Total tax rates include both the employer and employee portion of the Social Security and Medicare payroll taxes.)
Today. Under President Clinton, the total Federal tax rate for middle-income families has dropped from 24.5 percent in 1992 to 22.8 percent in 1999 – that's the lowest tax rate since 1978. For families at one-half the median income, the effective Federal tax rate has been slashed from 19.8 percent in 1992 to 14.1 percent in 1999 – that's the lowest tax rate since 1968.
Homeownership Is Up: The Highest in American History
1981-1992. The homeownership rate fell from 65.4 percent in 1981 to 64.2 percent in 1992.
Today. In 1999, the homeownership rate was 66.8 percent – the highest ever recorded. Inflation is Down: The Lowest Core Rate In 35 Years
1981-1992. The underlying core rate of inflation averaged 4.7 percent annually.
Today. Under President Clinton the core rate of inflation has averaged 2.6 percent annually – the lowest of any Administration since Kennedy. Welfare Rolls Dropped Dramatically: Lowest Since 1969
1981-1992. The number of welfare recipients increased by almost 2.5 million (a 22 percent increase) to 13.6 million people.
Today. Between January 1993 and September 1999, the number of welfare recipients dropped by 7.5 million (a 53 percent decline) to 6.6 million – the lowest level since 1968. Unemployment Is Down: The Lowest Rate in 30 Years
1981-1992. The unemployment rate averaged 7.1 percent and rose to more than 10 percent in 1982 and 1983.
Today. In 2000, the unemployment rate has averaged 5.0 percent –the lowest rate in over 30 years. The unemployment rate has been below 5 percent for 35 consecutive months. Unemployment for African-Americans the Lowest on Record
1981-1992: African-American unemployment reached 21.2 percent in January 1983– a record high – and never dropped below 10 percent.
Today. The African-American unemployment rate has fallen from an average of 14.2 percent in 1992 to an average of 7.7 percent in 2000 – the lowest rate on record. Unemployment for Hispanics Recovered From Record Highs to Achieve Record Lows
1981-1992. Hispanic unemployment hit a record high of 15.7 percent in December 1982.
Today. The Hispanic unemployment rate has dropped from an average of 11.6 percent in 1992 to an average of 5.8 percent in 2000 – the lowest rate on record. Real Wages Rising Again: Fastest Growth in Two Decades
1981-1992. Real average hourly earnings fell 4.3 percent under Presidents Reagan and Bush.
Today. Real wages have grown 6.5 percent under President Clinton. Real wages have grown for five consecutive years -- for the first time since the 1960s. Poverty For African-Americans Dropped to Lowest On Record
You know what bugs me about the Clinton administration? Every good thing they did lasted eight years. There was no foresight, no looking to the future.
They slapped on some band-aids and threw some money at a few problems and that's supposed to make a presidency amazing? I want someone who more interested in serving this country for more than their time in the Oval Office.
gpnavonod
Look. I'm not saying good things didn't happen economically during the Clinton Years. I'm saying the bad his administration did outweighs the good, in my opinion, especially when considering what might've been done but wasn't as a result of Bill Clinton's "disorder" and the couple's shady behaviors.
The New Technology had more to do with the prosperity than anything Clinton or Rubin, etc. did. His policies might've greased the wheels but under our kind of economic system the machine pretty much goes of itself unless it totally breaks down as it did in 1929--FDR's transformative policies rescuing it--and as it's doing now.
Bush broke the bank and the country. Through incompetence and/or design. (The incompetence perhaps being part of the design to sink the superfluous American Middle Class.)
Need I continue?

LoL.....is that what you call it? .....Band-aids?
But then you have an interesting view of a lot of history. You prefer his story and your story.
Rhetoric never stopped any red ink though....
Maybe we need some band-aids... instead of someone shootin' off their inexperienced mouth in a crowd.

Pray do....since Clinton was not responsible for the good fortune then Bush1 or Bush 2 were not responsible for the decline of said fortune. Was any administration responsible for anything? You were about to show me...weren't you?
Who has been shooting of their inexperienced mouth?
The versions of history that exist are not conflicting. The Clinton administration saw an economic improvement in our country. The moment they left the White House, that time was done. What do you call a non-permanent solution?
The changes Reagan made were long-lasting. The changes Johnson made were long-lasting. The changes Kennedy made were long-lasting. The @!$%#-ups of GWB will be long-lasting. What is long lasting from the Clinton administration?

Lol....If nothing else....that was funny.
She's a harpy.
A harpy? That's a word I don't know. I need a definition so I can add it to my vocabulary.
The Clinton's entire career could be summed up in "what could have been". They had multiple opportunities and blew them, starting with their fiefdom in Arkansas. Bill Clinton has had nearly 8 years to 'rehabilitate' but he seems as sleazy as ever. Hillary made no lasting mark in the Senate other than her footnote as first-first lady Senator, and her vote to commit war on Iraq-something she refuses to repudiate while at the same time condemning anyone else who still supports our efforts there.
Hillary can only rightfully claim to be the PayBack candidate. If she wins, payback will be the one constant, as it was during our last go around with these two.
I disagree with you just a little bit. Bill Clinton has done some amazing philanthropy in the last eight years. You've just gotta ignore the unscrupulous ways he got the money. And you just gotta ignore the huge favors that will need to be repaid should Hillary end up in office.
Bosnia misspeak v PA bitter blunder:
Hillary lied, Barack didn't,
Hillary continually will say anything,
Barack is consistently sincere,
With Hillary it is all about her,
With Barack he really cares,
Their policies aren't much different,
But who they are really is,
Hillary is Washington as usual,
Barack is a chance for change!
The Clinton campaign is again proving why Hillary is unfit to be President. Here it is, Obama raises a major issue affecting the working people in small towns across America and Hillary opportunistically uses this truth to score cheap political points. This is an issue that no other candidate has raised. Obama should be complemented, not unfairly attacked. Unemployment and Bitterness is a national problem of working people forced into povery through displacement by Free Trade policies and a growing bereaved and high cost Iraq War. Hillary's response should have been to advance policies to revive these small towns. Instead She joins with MC Cain, behaves as a Republican Right and falsely attacks Obama as being elitist. Hillary then subtly introduces and exploits cultural, racial and class antagonisms against Obama by misinforming disadvantaged workers. The very workers displaced by NAFTA and the Irag War implemented and supported by her and her husband. What a extreme degree of dishonesty and disrespect for people's memory. She denies the people are bitter about their bad economic state. She denies that their only solace is in religion and sport hunting and that Obama is putting them down for their religious practices and sports. She tries to incite anti-Obama sentiment by misinforming the people of rural PA, that Obama was putting them down when in fact he was explaining their plight. Hillary's opportunist response exposes the Clintons as intellectually dishonest and disrespectful of working people. President Clinton introduced and Hillary supported NAFTA which took away most of the jobs in small towns. President (Bill) received a large sum for a proposed Trade Bill in Colombia and Clinton (still) campaign boss (Penn) also received a large sum for lobbying on the same Trade Deal. That proposed Bill, if implemented will also take jobs away from American workers. The Colombia Government does not respect workers rights, making labour costs cheaper and moving Manufacturing jobs away. President Clinton and Mrs. Clinton 8 year tenure in the White House was used to leverage $100M. Yet in the light of all of these bad policies, misdeeds and selfishness against the workers of America, Hillary pounces against an honest analysis of samll town workers plight and falsely makes out Obama to be elitist. When Hillary and Bill are the true elitist, as proven by their $100M amassed wealth in 8 years and a lack of concern for American workers in implementing NAFTA and Bill and Penn receiving big money for yet another Trade Deal. Do the Clinton's feel people are stupid? There were many instances in the campaign when Obama could have pounced on her remarks and did not. Because they belong to the same party and any one of the two could be facing the Republicans. You criticize in an honest and ethical manner and don't try to destroy your Party colleague as you are in effect helping the Republicans. As far as I am concerned The Clinton's have destroyed their legacy.Hillary don't deserve to be in the Democratic Party and heaven helps if she is the candidate.
Two thumbs up!
I can neither add or detract from your fine comment!
Well said.
Clinton's first 100 days after the inauguration: an extended vacation.
Meanwhile, the person who was elected president begins crafting new policy.

Sending a note to current Clinton supporters lets them know it's appreciated, sending a note to current Obama supporters can hopefully sway them to change their vote to Clinton, and sending a note to the uncommitted folks will hopefully sway them to vote for Clinton. It's that easy...
