Sarah Jessica Parker: She's not a slave to fashion

BERLIN — Sarah Jessica Parker says she's not a slave to fashion like her "Sex and the City" character Carrie Bradshaw.

"I am a mother, wife and working woman in the first place, clothes do not play such a big role in my life than they do in Carrie's," the 43-year-old actress told The Associated Press after the Berlin premiere of her upcoming film based on the popular HBO series.

"And there is no favorite designer or accessory as there is Manolo Blahnik for Carrie — there are so many talented and exciting designers, I could not possibly choose one favorite," Parker said Friday, sporting a white petticoat with a black girdle and black stiletto heels.

The Berlin premiere came as part of a whirlwind courtship of Europe where the TV series, which ran from 1998 to 2004, still has an enthusiastic fan base.

Joining Parker on the red carpet Thursday night were co-stars Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis.

The movie begins in the present, with the characters older and more thoughtful than their younger selves. Carrie, now in her early 40s, is a contributing editor to Vogue and a best-selling writer. She's got more money, and she's also got Mr. Big (Chris Noth), her longtime love.

Directed by Michael Patrick King, the film is all about finding the happy ending — but it has some surprising twists.

Still, it might be too early to talk about a sequel.

"We have not discussed this," Parker said.

"Sex and the City" opens May 30 in the U.S.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

Jennifer Hudson's role as Carrie's assistant must be real insubstantial. She's on no press junkets, gets no mention in many reviews, and never gets photographed. I don't even think she got flown into London for the premiere.

Way to integrate SATC, guys.
