Auction of lunch with Warren Buffett starts Sunday

OMAHA — It's anyone's guess how high the bidding will go this year when the chance to have lunch with investor Warren Buffett is put up for sale.

The online bidding begins at $25,000 on Sunday evening. A year ago, two investors paid $650,100 for the chance to have lunch with the chairman and chief executive of Berkshire Hathaway Inc.

The auction benefits the Glide Foundation, which provides social services to the poor and homeless in San Francisco.

The auction begins at 7 p.m. Pacific Sunday and continues until 7 p.m. Pacific on Friday.

This will be the sixth year Buffett auctions a lunch on eBay and donates the proceeds to Glide.

The winning bidder and up to seven friends will dine with Buffett at the Smith & Wollensky steakhouse in New York City.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

Get your facts straight Josh! Previous to this the most expensive charity item auctioned on eBay was the infamous snotty Harry Reid letter in October of 2007 NOT Jays Harley. The letter was auctioned off by Rush Limbaugh for $2,100,100. The money went to the Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation, a New Jersey-based charity. On top of that Rush matched the the auction total out of his person funds making the total $4.2 MM.

How convenient you left this out Josh! You can't believe anything AP writes!
