BARNEGAT — It's the case of the nonexistent ninja. Public schools in Barnegat were locked down briefly after someone reported seeing a ninja running through the woods behind an elementary school.

Turns out the ninja was actually a camp counselor dressed in black karate garb and carrying a plastic sword.

Police tell the Asbury Park Press the man was late to a costume-themed day at a nearby middle school.

The lockdown began shortly after 9 a.m. Wednesday and lasted until 9:30.

Seconded. I want to use this as an excuse some day.

"Sorry sir, but I can't come in today. There's...there's a ninja in my bushes. I'm pretty sure if I try to leave the house, he'll kill me."

There's a ninja in my bushes! lol oh man, I would LOVE to wake up one day to discover that ninjas were back, you know? And if some of them happened to be turtles, all the better!

Is this a common problem in Barnagat? Of course, ninja's being what they are, it probably WAS a ninja, he just posed as a camp counselor dressed in black karate garb and carrying a plastic sword after he was discovered.

Maybe we'll hear more about this from the next Ask a Ninja episode.

I would imagine it to be difficult these days to get work as a ninja. It's not like the good old days.

Yeah but I hear their Union is going to start getting them better coverage but the real problem is finding them life insurance. A sad day when ninjas cant even get fair benefits.

Poor ninjas, they are so discriminated against!

Mom: Hey tommy why are you back from school so early?

Tommy: They locked down the school after the ninja sighting!

Ninja: Man that was a close one. Ill get them kids next time.

        they should all be made to read this book;

        http : // www . think geek . com / books / humor / 783f /

or "The Official Ninja Book" by Rob't Hamburger, pub. by Citadel

        and then see what happens.

which is something that should be looked into I wont back either candidate till we can be assured that Ninjas will no longer live in fear of 18Th Century Styled Pirates. That may fly in the Caribbean but not in the USA.

"They are the unseen, the hidden, the unknown. They are the dark shadow that strikes like lightning."

In other words, the ninja you need to fear is the one you cannot SEE in the woods.
