ROYALTON — An Illinois woman says her beloved miniature dachshund gnawed off her right big toe while she was asleep. Linda Floyd told the Alton Telegraph for a story Wednesday that her beloved Roscoe was euthanized because of safety concerns.
The 56-year-old says she has no feeling in her toes because of nerve damage from diabetes. She discovered the toe missing after waking from a nap Monday. She called her daughter, who phoned 911.
A veterinarian says the toe had been bandaged because of a healing hangnail. That might have somehow attracted the dog.
They euthanized the dog!!! The breed is known for chewing things they know they shouldn't. This dog saw the bandaid and went after it like it was a toy to chew on, not to maliciously attack the owner! Some pet owners are soooo dumb, and this lady is a prime example. I'll hold full judgement on this though as I don't know how this particular dog was.
Any daschund owner will tell you that their pooch would NEVER attack them. In fact, my boy - along with most long haired versions of this breed- would never attack ANYONE!! The short haired variety are a different story, they are more prone to attack - but again the two share the same breed, but not characteristics. I'd be interested to see what this one was.
Of course he might chew it if its all bloody...He probably started licking it and since she didn't do anything he thought, hey Ill just eat it....thats sad, I doubt he meant to viciously attack her, maybe she should have just started shutting her door.
