Tidbits: Miley wants to do a G-rated ‘Sex and the City’

It’s getting harder and harder to figure out the real Miley Cyrus. Is she a controversy-courting star or just another cherub-cheeked Disney kid? In her latest interview with TV Guide, the 15-year-old keeps the lines blurred.

In the past, Miley confessed to a love for the oh-so-adult “Sex and the City,” though according to her mother, it’s the edited for primetime version that holds her daughter’s interest. Now the teen tells TV Guide she’d “love to do a younger, cleaner version of ‘Sex and the City.’”

Just how the “Hannah Montana” actress plans to pull off a younger and cleaner version of a show about a quartet of girlfriends who share their kinkiest relationship details isn’t quite clear, but don’t count on her to clear it up.

Miley confessed that she doesn’t like to “dwell on negativity.” When asked about her nothing-but-a-sheet shot for Vanity Fair, she simply said, “I want to be a positive role model, so we just try to keep (that stuff) as much not-talked-about as possible.”

Kiefer considers ‘24’ his ‘safe place’
After serving time in the Glendale City Jail for DUI and probation violation convictions, Kiefer Sutherland was eager to get back to the world of televised crime and intrigue. The “24” star told reporters at the Television Critics Association's summer press tour that returning to the set was about more than just work — it gave him a chance to feel secure again.

“It made what I had to do — obviously a very stupid thing that I did — it made that easier, because I could go and the show was not affected by it,” Kiefer said in a quote posted to People.com. “I made a really dumb mistake, and to be able to go back to work, which is something I feel comfortable doing, it’s a safe place for me. I was grateful to have that opportunity.”

Scottish actor Robert Carlyle, who’ll be joining Kiefer in a “24” prequel set to air before the show’s official return next year, told the TCA crowd his co-star is in top form.

As for Kiefer’s personal troubles, Robert sympathized with the leading man, comparing Kiefer’s crime and subsequent jail sentence to “squashing a fly with a mallet.”

Dish on the fly
Has Uma Thurman joined the baby-bump brigade? The UK’s Daily Mail revealed photos of the actress baring an uncharacteristically round belly while vacationing in Corsica. There’s been no official announcement from Uma or her new fiancé Arpad Busson, so the paper speculates it may be a simple case of a little “lunch-time indulgence.” That must have been quite a lunch. … Underneath her designer duds and added assets, Victoria Beckham admits she’s just like everyone else. “I’m a normal-looking girl, and I just make the best of what I have,” Posh said in a interview with Allure magazine. “I’m not out-of-the-ordinary looking at all — I’m incredibly ordinary.”

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

There is no such thing as a G-Rated Sex and the City! I'm sick of this kid! She's become trash like the other former Disney girls! Disney, dump her!
