It's the law: No sagging pants in Chicago suburb

Be careful if you have saggy pants in the south Chicago suburb of Lynwood. Village leaders have passed an ordinance that would levy $25 fines against anyone showing three inches or more of their underwear in public.

Eugene Williams is the mayor of Lynwood. He says young men walk around town half-dressed, keeping major retailers and economic development away. He calls the new law a hot topic.

The American Civil Liberties Union says the ordinance targets young men of color.

Young adults in the village, like 21-year-old Joe Klomes, say the new law infringes on their personal style. He says leaders should instead spend money on making the area look nicer.

I live in a predominately white area. Even the white boys wear their pants down below their crotch. I don't care for the look, but I just laugh. I even poke fun a some of them.

Think of it this way. Have you ever seen someone try to run from police with there pants around their ankles? Better yet, they can't keep a gun in their waist band when it is around their knees. It doesn't work really well. Kind of like crime prevention. Let them fall!

Kind of silly don't you think? A total wast of taxpayers time and money on the part of the counsel.

They make me laugh as well... It brings back memories: A good friend and I were out smoking at work one day, when one of these walked by with his pants around his knees. As he passed, she slapped him on the back of his head and said, "Pull your @!$%#ing pants up!" (It turned out he's her little brother...) Now, I just picture that each time I see this "fashion statement".

The sagging and baggy pants were orgianally worn to hide weapons in gangland, and it is quite easily hidden...in todays world, most people are trying really hard to be that ghetto OG, just without the flare of having to do anything that would have gone down back then...its kind of sad really. Now while it may be their "sense of style", it's rediculous. Nobody wants to see their as$. What else is rather rediculous is how this page turned into a somewhat racist page to read...Not everybody sagging their pants are "men of color" which we all know means black, but plenty of hispanics, whites, and asians, all sag their crap they call cloathing as well...I think some people need to continue maturing and just get over it. Wisconsin recently passed a law making it a crime to have sex with chickens. Why? Obviously there was a problem. My point is we should not have to have laws like this. People should just have enough self respect and dignity and common sense not to act like this. But...They don't.

That is what is known as a "double standard." Women have benefited from double standards such as "sex sells."
