Files untangle tales from missing Fla. girl's mom

ORLANDO — Casey Anthony tried to give her missing 3-year-old daughter up for adoption before she was born, but her mother wouldn't let her, according to legal documents that paint the 22-year-old Florida woman as a perplexed, scheming and unbalanced person who repeatedly defended obvious lies in police reports.

The 400 pages released by prosecutors this week leave little hope that Caylee Marie Anthony will be found safe. Anthony says her daughter has been missing since June 9, but she didn't report it until more than a month later. She faces charges of child neglect, obstruction and making false statements.

The documents include a poem Anthony wrote on July 7, eight days before she reported her daughter missing: "What is given, Can be taken away. Everyone lies. Everyone dies."

Prosecutors have called her a person of interest in what is appearing to be a murder case. She was freed last week on $500,000 bail and is on home confinement awaiting trial. Despite searches using divers and cadaver dogs, police have been unable to locate the Orlando girl.

The documents show a pregnant Casey Anthony, who gave birth to Caylee when she was 19, considered offering the child for adoption.

Kiomare Torres Cruz, Casey Anthony's friend from middle school through high school, said she once offered to take and care for Caylee because doctors told her she couldn't have kids of her own. But Cruz said Cindy Anthony wouldn't have it.

"I said ... 'I'm strongly considering adopting the baby from you.' (Casey Anthony) said, 'That's a good idea,'" Cruz said in a police transcript. "But then she called me back saying that her mom pretty much has told her that no, she needs to keep the baby and that she's not giving it up for adoption. Even though she really did not want to have the baby."

Caylee's father died in a car crash a year after she was born and he never knew his daughter, Anthony's family has said.

Anthony's attorney, Jose Baez, had no comment on what the documents said, but did try to prevent them from being released.

Casey Anthony says she was frightened and did all she could to find Caylee herself for a month before her mother persuaded her to tell authorities.

"I have spent every day since Monday, June 9, 2008, looking for my daughter," Casey Anthony wrote in a sworn affidavit signed July 16, the day of her arrest. "I have lied and stolen from friends and family to do whatever I could by any means to find my daughter. I avoided calling the police or even notifying my family out of fear. I have been, and still am, afraid of what has or may happen to Caylee."

Anthony told police repeatedly that she left the child with her baby sitter of roughly two years, then couldn't find them when she returned from work at an Orlando theme park. However, no one had lived at that address in months, Anthony had no job and no woman by the baby sitter's alleged name ever knew the mother and daughter, detectives say.

The documents detail at length the mistrust Anthony's friends and family — particularly her mother, a recent fixture on TV talk shows — seemed to have of the woman.

Cindy Anthony first wanted her daughter arrested for allegedly disappearing with money and a family car for a month during which Caylee's whereabouts are now uncertain. She told a 911 dispatcher that the car, which had been towed after being abandoned at a check-cashing business, smelled like someone had died in it. A man at the tow yard told detectives the same thing.

Casey Anthony admitted misleading investigators, according to a transcript of her lengthy interview with police, but repeatedly insisted she had done nothing to the girl.

Anthony insisted she was terrified not knowing where the girl was, though she didn't show any emotion, the documents say.

"If I really wanted to just get rid of her I would've left her with my parents and I would've left," she said, according to the transcript. "I would've moved out. I would've given my mom custody."

I personally do not think they will find this beautiful little girl alive. I think they are letting her out to gain iformation on where they may find the body. I also pray I am wrong. I would do some serious searching in the woods where casey Anthony was known to be the day after the little girl went missing. Once she is found (Kaylee), then let Nancy Grace at Casey.

This story is devastating! I cannot understand, why the grandparents seem to be so "conned' by their own daughter. They had to have known she had psychological problems, long ago and it would seem to me, they should have sought help for her. They are two professionals, Casey's mother Cindy, a nurse, and her father George, a retired police officer! So what gives with their denial of their daughter's problems and ongoing lies, theft, and problems? How could they have "not known" she was not working. Where did they think she was spending the days, while supposedly at work? How can anyone living in the same house with her not know these things? How was she paying for a 'nanny'? How could it be, that she had the same babysitter for 2 yrs? The grandparents, who 'love' their granddaughter so much, had never met a woman who was taking care of their granddaughter? It does not mesh at all

I am wondering what other psychology is "hidden" regarding this whole family. Perhaps, George Anthony should submit to a DNA, maybe he was sexually abusing Casey, fathered Caylee and Casey thought he would do the same thing to little Caylee? Maybe they should dig up the grave of the "supposed" father who "supposedly', fathered little Caylee and do a DNA match. Why haven't the police tracked down the $40,000.00 ( a paper trail of huge evidence) charges on her mother's stolen credit card, to see, how $40,000 was spent. It takes a considerable amount of time, to spend $40,000.00. Too many family secrets, too many lies, too much denial and not enough investigation. Why is the brother not speaking out anymore? Where is he, is he married, what does he do for a living? Does he have a problematic past? Why didn't Cindy and George and her brother Lee bail out their Casey? They seem to have a fairly middle income lifestyle. It would seem to me, that they could have used their home as collateral? If it was my daughter, and I finally had the chance to speak with her privately, after she was bailed out, I would have taken her and 'demanded' under no uncertain terms, that she confessed to all the details.

I can't believe Casey's parents do not seem to know much about their own daughter? Her father, George, a retired police officer, and her Mother Cindy a nurse? Come on, where did they think she was spending her days, and not be aware of the fact she had no job? How could they never have met a woman who had "supposedly" been babysitting their granddaughter for two years? Where are their heads? Why isn't there a paper trail of the $40,000, Casey spent with the mothers stolen credit card. It was $40,000, she charged, how can a person spend $40,000 in so little amount of time, and the police aren't checking where the charges occurred and to whom (where is the paper trail of these charges)? Why didn't the parents bail Casey out, They could have used their home as collateral? They must have known Casey had emotional problems a very long time ago.... and WHY didn't they get her help? Maybe George, should take a DNA test to see if he was Caylee's father? Maybe he was molesting Casey, and she worried he might do it to Caylee??? Too many secrets in this family. I know, if Casey were my daughter and she got bailed out and was sent home, i would be giving her the 3rd degree and 'beatin' (figuratively) her into confessing all the truth. Where is Lee, the brother, what does he do for a living, does he have any problems emotionally as well This whole family seems so 'middle class' on the outside, but what are their secrets, behind closed doors? Too much lack of emotion, between all members of this family, it seems George can get mad at the media, why doesn't he show that anger towards his daughter and demand she "fess" up?
Now, Caylee's father? That is a real strange sort huge secret, kept by all the members of this family! Perhaps they should exhume his body and do a DNA on him to see if the really is the father. I'll just bet he is not. Too many coverups, lies and secrets.

Anna-Murray44, you took the words right out of my mouth!! Many of us are waiting for the other shoe to drop but I hope the delay in indicting Casey for murder is because LE is preparing an iron-clad case. If Casey got off on a technicality or if she were acquitted (God forbid), I and many others would have a conniption. I'm sure Jose Baez thinks it's good PR for her to be seen wearing a "Where Is Caylee?" t-shirt but I'd like to wrap it around her throat until she tells the truth. Casey knows, as many killers do, that finding Caylee's remains is the only bargaining chip she has. Plus, withholding knowledge of where they can be found is the only way she can control the situation (or so she thinks) and her family. The dynamics in this family are something out of a Stephen King novel.

and rearrest the crazy woman. Next time put a no Bond on her let her stay in jail and think about what she did to her baby. maybe then she will tell where she put her little body.

There are so many questions in my mind concerning this family. I can tell you this. If my little grand daughter were missing for even one hour or less, I would be calling the  police myself. I wouldn't wait for my daughter to do it and plead with her for over a month for Gods sake to do it. What kind of grand mother is that? let alone what kind of a mother is that. The fact alone that she didn't report her missing for over a month tells me she's guilty as guilty can be. Now, they have determined the remains found are that poor little child. My daughter would endure my wrath if she acted in the fashion of Casey Anthony. The wrath of the courts and police dept. would be second. I feel like her mom knows more than she is saying too, and I think it will all be very interesting when it all comes out. It will all come out at some point, nothing stays hidden forever. Shame on you grandma Anthony, and may God have mercy on your daughter. The only good out of this is that the good Lord now has little Kaylees soul. No more suffering for her.
