LA PAZ — Bolivian police say a truck plunge high in the Andes killed 21 people and left 53 injured.
Maj. Roger Kenton tells The Associated Press that the truck loaded with passengers plunged off a 900-foot (300-meter) cliff Sunday night near the small town of Times, about 75 miles (120 kilometers) northwest of the Bolivian capital of La Paz.
The driver was among those killed, and police were investigating the cause on Tuesday. The truck was destroyed, and the surviving passengers were brought to several hospitals. Some were badly injured.
Trucks are commonly used to transport people in Bolivia.
