The corpse of a man believed to be a North Korean soldier has been found in a South Korean river near the border of the two countries.
The South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff says an army guard fired warning shots after finding an unidentified object drifting down the river near the eastern section of the Korean border Tuesday morning.
A statement says the object was later found to be the body of a man clothed in a North Korean military uniform.
The two Koreas are still technically in a state of war because their 1950-53 Korean War armistice has never been replaced by a peace treaty.
