ORANGEBURG — Will Ford rushed for 138 yards and three touchdowns to lead South Carolina State to a 42-3 victory over Benedict on Saturday night.
Ford scored on a 5-yard run in the first quarter and added touchdown runs of 8 and 3 yards in the third quarter as the Bulldogs (1-1) padded their lead to 35-3.
Malcolm Long was 13 of 19 for 173 yards and two touchdowns for South Carolina State. He opened the scoring with a 9-yard pass to Oliver Young in the first quarter and closed it with a 74-yard pass to Phillip Morris in the fourth.
Alper Keskin kicked a 35-yard field goal with 6:13 left in the second quarter for Benedict (1-1).
