Bill Clinton predicts Obama will win 'handily'

advertisement

Former President Clinton shared sandwiches at his office in Harlem with Barack Obama on Thursday and predicted that the Democrat will win the presidential race "pretty handily."

While a group of reporters and photographers watched, the two began their meeting at the Clinton Global Initiative offices with small talk about Clinton's commute from Chappaqua, N.Y.

Clinton kept his answers short when he was asked about his involvement with Obama's campaign this fall. The former president noted an already-announced trip Sept. 29 to Florida.

Obama said, "We're putting him to work."

Asked if he would be doing more, Clinton said, "I've agreed to do a substantial number of things, whatever I'm asked to do."

Before reporters were ushered out, Clinton was asked where he sees the race between Obama and Republican John McCain.

"I predict that Sen. Obama will win and win pretty handily," he said.

Obama added: "You can take it from the president of the United States. He knows a little something about politics."

Obama and Bill Clinton appeared less friendly toward each other at times during Obama's Democratic primary battle with Clinton's wife, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York. After Obama clinched the party's nomination, both Clintons gave strong speeches in Obama's favor during the party convention in Denver.

This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

Not much substance considering how this was billed (no pun intended). What advantage does Clinton bring to the table. Is he still bitter? How, oh how, will this be spun?

Obama/ Biden 2008 (The capitalization indicates that I know who's on top of this ticket)

It looks like Obama and Bill Clinton have come a long way, it's really nice to see them together. The Clintons, Bidens and Obamas make an indestructible team. I have faith that together they can help Democrats defeat the Republicans this come November and put my candidate of choice - Obama - in the White House.

Bless America and let freedom ring. The McCain campaign exhibits the very epitome of the LAST THING WE NEED IN WASHINGTON! I believe insular McCain is showing signs of loosing his acuity. Watching him speak, it seems as though he himself believes in the lies both he and his celebrity VP have been scripted to say. These two are clearly puppets of a much larger force that cannot relinquish the root of their only source of power and finance - and THANKFULLY for the security of the American people, that is becoming increasingly EVIDENT day by day and drip by drip.

Tell everyone you know about John McCain's Lies - here's the video proof from BRAVE NEW FILMS: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IH0xzsogzAk

Now, Hillary or (Pelosi) need to get their butts in gear and help the party and take on Sarah Palin.

Obama needs to focus on McCain and only McCain (economy, debt, economy).

Attention: Biden cannot win in the VP debate. If she out-debates him (albeit unlikely) he loses, if he out-debates her he will be seen (or painted) as a man bullying a women.

Democratic women, your party needs you to speak.

Despite all the clamor for Obama to hit back harder, I do feel his self-discipline has been the sole sign of dignity in the election thus far. The baiting has been fierce...there are not many who could not fly off when FACE TO FACE with the most brash of commentary.

When HAVEN'T we known Bill to fire back? They will most definitely use him to continue this off message=voter numbness. When people don't even care to determine what all the lies are they will assign 50/50 and move to "who is like me".

I think it's great they had lunch and really didn't expect to see reported what they talked about, although you can bet Obama asked the President's advice as to how to proceed with his campaign. Now that the moment of the 9/11 silence is over, I hope to see Obama come out with a full passionate attack on this administration's non-responsiveness to it. It's been seven years and what have they done to sure up homeland security? Increase checks of US citizens at the airports? Build a wall along the border of Mexico while throwing our border agents in jail for doing their jobs? Handing out HBV visas like hotcakes to non-US citizens and forcing us to train them under threat of forfeiting our severance pay if we don't? Allowing companies like Walmart to 'gently' discourage their employees from voting for Obama because they don't want employees to form unions? Inferiate our neighbors abroad to the point we now face nuclear war? Still in Iraq when they've just made a 3 billion dollar oil deal with China that will span a 20 year period? An oil deal with China? How dare!! China wouldn't lift a finger to assist this war, yet they reap the benefit of the 79 billion dollars Iraq has, as we continue to dump our tax dollars there monthly with our troops. The last time I checked, when a government owns all of its citizens' property, it was called socialism, so with the current administration's current take over of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, I believe we now have a socialistic government? So in the words of Marvin Gaye, "What's going on?" - Enough!! Obama should have shouted this during the moment of silence and not stop until Security dragged him off the grass kicking and screaming, because breaking 7 years of silence would have been most appropriate especially at this time when we need a serious change in our government. Instead of a moment of silence next year, I hope there will be a celebration of our country restored to a more secure state, both financially and globally. That would be something to write report.

Oh and by the way, it wouldn't behoove Bill and Hillary not to assist Obama's campaign as they've got something at stake here too...a 20mil dollar campaign dept and who knows what's tied up in that. So all is not as black and white as it may appear. Just as some think women will forfiet all of their gains over the years, just to vote for someone who has nothing issue-wise in common with them except gender? We've come a long way, baby. Contrary to the polls and the media, the poor and the middle class are going to vote based on what's reflected in their pockets and what impacts their everyday lifes, and that simply making a living, their children having a worldclass education, affordable healthcare, and America being financially sound and militarily strong in the world. It all boils down to that. How will this get done? As Obama says, closing up corporate loopholes, reviewing line by line financial agendas that aren't working, tax break for 95% of Americans, suring up homeland security which will effect reform of immigration laws and requirements, making it easier for those illegals here to take the steps to become American citizens, while stopping illegal entry; pull our troops out Iraq on a 16-month timeline; direct monies now spent in Iraq to fuel research, nuclear plants and drilling reponsibly that we are no longer foreign fuel dependent, thus creating jobs; stop giving tax breaks to companies that conduct their business outside of the US; support education programs and increase wages for teachers; support equal pay for equal work; the right to unionize. Oh yeah, we know what's going on. We know what's at stake and will not sell out because perhaps there are some hurt feelings that Hillary wasn't picked for VP or the color of the nominee is of a different hue. We woman have more presence of mind than that. Stick to the issues, that's where the real women are at. I'm a woman and a vet, and I approve of this message.

Which years would you rather repeat, the Clinton years or the Bush years?

You got that right, ArmyVet. Took the current administration's 8 years to squander the surplus and put in huge debt as well. Not to mention we're now p-ss-in off countries we're indebted to. I think that's far worse than getting a blow job from a co-worker. (sorry, the technical term escapes me starts with an 'fala...something or other') Anyway, that didn't cost us tax-payers nothing. I'm a woman and a Navy vet and I approve of this message.

Speaking of capturing Bin Laden, the latest charge McCain's making is that once he's in office he'll get him - he knows how. My thing is this, since he's proclaiming 'Country First', why doesn't he let the current administration in on what he knows that apparently they don't? His claim sounds more like he's trying to extort our vote. Whereas, Obama has been telling administration all the time where our military efforts should be concentrating on. Our current government is suspect...It makes me wonder if Hussein was actually hiding in the hole of his own accord, or if it was in fact our government who kept him safe there providing the chicken to kept him alive until it was realized that he would never reveal where his booty was kept, whereupon our govenment threw him to the lions in a word - back to his country for a hanging. Makes one wonder our government really NOT know exactly where Bin Laden is? Devil's advocate? perhaps...things that make you go hum...or vote for Obama.
