Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin said Friday she thinks Barack Obama regrets not making Hillary Rodham Clinton his running mate.
Palin praised Clinton's "determination, and grit and even grace" during the Democratic primaries, sounding an altogether different note than when she suggested earlier this year that the New York senator was whining about negative press coverage and campaigning in a way that was not advancing the cause of women in politics.
"I think he's regretting not picking her now," Palin told ABC News.
Her comment brought a sharp rejoinder from Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, on behalf of the Obama campaign: "Sarah Palin should spare us the phony sentiment and respect. Governor Palin accused Senator Clinton of whining."
Palin, in the second part of her first major interview since she joined the GOP ticket, also defended the nearly $200 million in federal pet projects she sought as Alaska governor this year even as John McCain told a television audience she had never requested them.
Palin was confronted in the interview with two claims that have been a staple of her reputation since joining McCain: that she was opposed to federal earmarks, even though her request for such special spending projects for 2009 was the highest per capita figure in the nation; and that she opposed the $398 million Bridge to Nowhere linking Ketchikan to an island with 50 residents and an airport.
Palin actually turned against the bridge project only after it became a national symbol of wasteful spending and Congress had pulled money for it.
Palin told ABC's Charles Gibson that since she took office, the state had "drastically" reduced its efforts to secure earmarks and would continue to do so while she was governor.
"What I've been telling Alaskans for these years that I've been in office, is, no more," Palin said.
When Gibson noted she had requested money to study the mating habits of crabs and harbor-seal genetic research — the kind of small-bore projects that draw McCain's ire — Palin said the specific requests had come through universities and other public entities and weren't worked out by lobbyists behind closed doors.
On the Bridge to Nowhere, Palin said she had supported a link from the mainland to the airport but not necessarily the costly bridge project.
"We killed the Bridge to Nowhere," Palin said flatly, despite evidence she had supported the project in its early stages.
On social issues, Palin reiterated her opposition to abortion rights — parting with McCain, who supports legal abortion in cases of rape or incest. Palin opposes those exceptions. Like McCain, she supports overturning the Roe vs. Wade guarantee of abortion rights.
However, she came down against a constitutional ban on abortion, which many social conservatives want. She said of abortion, "I think the states should be able to decide that issue," a position incompatible with a constitutional ban. In that respect, her position is the same as McCain's.
Palin refused to say whether she believed homosexuality was an orientation or a choice. "I'm not one to judge," Palin said.
Palin's comments came after McCain sat for a feisty grilling on ABC's "The View," where he claimed erroneously that his running mate hadn't sought money for federal pet projects.
"Not as governor she didn't," McCain said, ignoring the record.
Palin's entry in the race has drawn support from many white women, and the McCain campaign hopes in particular that she can pull Clinton's supporters away from Obama. It was in that spirit that she heaped praise on Obama's defeated rival in the face of her earlier criticisms.
"What determination, and grit, and even grace through some tough shots that were fired her way — she handled those well," Palin said.
In March, Palin was asked about coverage of Clinton at a Newsweek forum, and said: "Fair or unfair, I think she does herself a disservice to even mention it, really. I mean, you gotta plow through that. You have to know what you're getting into ... when I hear a statement like that coming from a woman candidate with any kind of perceived whine about that excess criticism, or you know maybe a sharper microscope put on her, I think, 'That doesn't do us any good — women in politics."
Delaware Sen. Joe Biden, the man Obama picked for his ticket, defended Clinton this week when a voter told him it was best that he was chosen over the New York senator. Biden said Clinton "might've been a better pick than me."
In Alaska, meanwhile, the investigator looking into whether Palin abused her power as governor in trying to fire her former brother-in-law asked state lawmakers for the power to subpoena Palin's husband, Todd, a dozen others and the phone records of a top aide. The state House and Senate judiciary committees were expected to grant the request.
Palin told ABC she welcomed the investigation. "There's nothing to hide in this," she said.
Palin was in Alaska on Friday and scheduled to attend a campaign rally in Nevada on Saturday while McCain took the day off, a reflection of her growing status as the GOP ticket's celebrity draw.
On "The View," McCain said that Palin had "ignited a spark" among voters but acknowledged they parted ways on certain issues. The Arizona has said human behavior is largely responsible for climate change and opposes drilling for oil in a federally protected refuge, for example.
McCain appeared to back off a bit from his claim that Palin was the best vice presidential pick in U.S. history when he joked, "We politicians are never given to exaggeration or hyperbole."
The GOP hopeful also stood by two debunked campaign commercials — one which said Obama favored comprehensive sex education for kindergarten students and another that suggested Obama had called Palin a pig. Both are factually inaccurate.
Obama, as an Illinois state senator, voted for legislation that would teach age-appropriate sex education to kindergartners, including information on rejecting advances by sexual predators. And while Obama told a campaign rally this week that McCain's policies were like "putting lipstick on a pig," he never used the phrase in connection with Palin.
"Those ads aren't true. They're lies," said "View" co-host Joy Behar.
"They're not lies," McCain said, insisting that Obama "chooses his words very carefully" and should never had made the lipstick remark.

Associated Press writer Garance Burke in Wasilla, Alaska, contributed to this report.
The AP and NYT need to get their stories right.
What Obama voted for was a bill that left to state administrators what sex information to teach to a certain age group, but nothing about sexual predators. The precise language did not use the words "sexual predators" at all. Indeed, it was far broader and allowed any type of sex education, solely limited to judgment of state administrators.
Of course, there is no investigation of what this was or what is happening in public schools. Or even of the precise language of the bill.
Who needs to do this when we can rely on the AP and NYT to say whatever they want without citation and full impunity.
Some source of news for the US. A group controlled by a set of pro-Obama newspapers and another controlled by some group as yet unknown but certainly at least as biased a paper as there is in the US today.
"Barack Obama supports sensible, community-driven education for children because, among other things, he believes it could help protect them from pedophiles. A child's knowledge of the difference between appropriate and inappropriate touching is crucial to keeping them safe from predators."
Obama doesn't want to hand out condoms to 5 year olds, PC. Nice try though.
PC:
Hello Cliff, nice to see you back again. ;-)
Here is some language from the 'bill':
(105 ILCS 5/27‑9.1) (from Ch. 122, par. 27‑9.1) Sec. 27‑9.1. Sex Education. (a) No pupil shall be required to take or participate in any class or course in comprehensive sex education if his parent or guardian submits written objection thereto, and refusal to take or participate in such course or program shall not be reason for suspension or expulsion of such pupil. Each class or course in comprehensive sex education offered in any of grades 6 through 12 shall include instruction on the prevention, transmission and spread of AIDS. Nothing in this Section prohibits instruction in sanitation, hygiene or traditional courses in biology. (b) All public elementary, junior high, and senior high school classes that teach sex education and discuss sexual intercourse shall emphasize that abstinence is the expected norm in that abstinence from sexual intercourse is the only protection that is 100% effective against unwanted teenage pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, and acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) when transmitted sexually. (c) All sex education courses that discuss sexual intercourse shall satisfy the following criteria: (1) Course material and instruction shall be age appropriate.
(2) Course material and instruction shall teach honor and respect for monogamous heterosexual marriage.

(8) Course material and instruction shall teach pupils to not make unwanted physical and verbal sexual advances and how to say no to unwanted sexual advances. Pupils shall be taught that it is wrong to take advantage of or to exploit another person. The material and instruction shall also encourage youth to resist negative peer pressure.
(9) (Blank). (d) An opportunity shall be afforded to parents or guardians to examine the instructional materials to be used in such class or course. (Source: P.A. 93‑88, eff. 7‑2‑03; 94‑933, eff. 6‑26‑06.)
That's inaccurate MTSeeker, a lot of those statements are lined through. It would read more like this. No pupil shall be required to take or participate in any class or course in comprehensive sex education if the pupil's parent or guardian submits written objection thereto, and refusal to take or participate in such course or program shall not be reason for suspension or expulsion of such pupil. Each class or course in comprehensive sex education offered in any of grades K through 12 shall include instruction on the prevention of sexually transmitted infections, including the prevention, transmission and spread of HIV. Nothing in this Section prohibits instruction in sanitation, hygiene or traditional courses in biology. (b) All public elementary, junior high, and senior high school classes that teach sex education and discuss sexual activity or behavior intercourse shall emphasize that abstinence is an effective method of preventing unintended pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, and HIV when transmitted sexually. (c) In this subsection (c): "Factual information" includes without limitation medical, psychiatric, psychological, empirical, and statistical statements. "Medically accurate" means verified or supported by research conducted in compliance with scientific methods, published in peer-review journals, where appropriate, and recognized as accurate and objective by professional organizations and agencies with expertise in the relevant field. All sex education courses that discuss sexual activity or behavior shall satisfy the following criteria: (1) Factual information presented in course material and instruction shall be medically accurate and objective. (2) All course material and instruction shall be age and developmentally appropriate. (2), (3), and (4) are completely lined through. (5) Course material and instruction shall stress that sexually transmitted infections are serious possible hazards of sexual activity or behavior. Pupils shall be provided with statistics based on the latest medical information citing the failure and success rates of all contraceptive methods in preventing unintended pregnancies and HIV and other sexually transmitted infections. (6) is fine. (7) Course material and instruction shall advise pupils that it is unlawful for males or females of any age to engage in sexual conduct or have sexual relations with a minor as specified in Article 12 of the Criminal Code of 1961. (11) Course material and instruction shall teach pupils to not make unwanted physical and verbal sexual advances and how to say no to unwanted sexual advances and shall include information about verbal, physical, and visual sexual harassment, including without limitation nonconsensual sexual advances, nonconsensual physical sexual contact, and rape by an acquaintance. The course material and instruction shall contain methods of preventing sexual assault by an acquaintance, including exercising good judgment and avoiding behavior that impairs one's judgment. The course material and instruction shall emphasize personal accountability and respect for others and shall also encourage youth to resist negative peer pressure.
Thanks Justin, I had not seen that information before. Saving it. :)
Holy crap it killed all of my formatting. Ugh.
JustinPM,
I got my version from the same site as yours (I believe) but not the same page; I am looking for my link so as to show my source. Obviously we both have a different version of the bills language--still don't know which one is "latest/last" version.
I'll see if I can figure it out. I just saw, minus the crappy formatting that I produced, that there were a lot of lines through everything. And yeah whoever originally wrote that definitely had some sort of agenda going on.
TOPJ DON'T every call republicans conservative only a republican would choose every thing in a person that goes against every value of conservative
Not sure how I called every republican conservative but I'll try not to blur the lines. Thanks for keeping me in line.
According to logic, every Republican is at least part conservative yet not every conservative is necessarily Republican...and considering the term republican (small r) the whole matter really becomes "clear as mud"!
Well I definitely believe that Palin is the novelty of the moment and the republican party is riding the wave for all it's worth. Right now the election feels like tabloid wars....kind of seedy.
I am counting on the upcoming debates for the democrats to shine. I feel confident that they will come across as the most qualified and confident.
I would be willing to bet I am just as conservative as any of you four brave souls. What happened to just listening to another opinion and then stating your own. It didn't break into Conservative or Liberal being a dirty word until your messiah Rush showed up. I think we are all Americans here and throwing stale labels around is some of the same old BS and does nothing to help our country.
hahaha, I'm loving the brawl that this election is turning out to be. It is just so, so, so volatile. To instigate a bit more, I would care to wager that the democrats have lost this election. Obama's fireworks had shot up when he started his campaign and is now on its way down. Palin's is meeting his, only hers is on its way up.
Vooda, Palin's novelty may be temporary (whose isn't? just ask any has been hollywood star). You better pray that that novelty wears off before the end of October.
Don't worry Demo, I'd give her about 15 more minutes. There is a lot of ground to cover between here and November.
she is charming and endearing to a whole lot of people. And I don't think any amount of attacks are going to change that, in fact they will only extend it. We still enjoy some chivalry in this country and people don't like to see a woman beaten up.
Mike-459864 What a disaster it would be for our country if we voted based on emotion instead of logic.
more reason why not to vote for Obama. The Obama argument is to link McCain to Bush. Therefore, a vote for McCain is a vote for Bush, right? And to vote against Bush is to vote for Obama. Obama is not asking you to vote for him and what he can do, Obama is asking you to vote AGAINST Bush by voting for Obama.
And, as you can see by the postings of democrats, the majority are emotionally invested -- angry and threatening, to be specific. Screw the country and logic, it is the anger that precedes any logical discourse. Nope, not falling for that.
Republicans may or may not win this election, yet the democrats will most definitely loose since they threw away an unbeatable Obama/Clintin ticket. Some of us can thank the stars that the Dems did just that...
P.S. EXCALENT point in #60.4...
Demo
I respect that, but do you honestly believe that? Do you really believe that Obama supporters don't care about what the next president has to offer us? Do you really believe that we all have simply decided that we won't vote for McCain because of what Bush put us through? I think most of us are grown up enough to admit that despite what party someone represents they could offer something a majority of voters would agree is acceptable. At least, I hope we are grown up enough to realize that.
I gave McCain the benefit of the doubt, but he's fallen short. Not because I'm a Democrat and he's a Republican. Not because I'm angry. But because of who he is.
Yes, I have become emotionally invested in this because of what has been happening to my wonderful country for the last 8 years. And I hope every one of you feel the same. But my emotions don't cross party lines. My emotions don't cross gender lines. (by the way, that's what we were talking about before you commented(feeling bad for a woman, and so giving up your vote to said woman)). On that note, do you remember how many people went over to Hillarys side when she cried on TV? Is that smart voting? My emotions have only caused me to be more involved in the political process, and make my selections logically, so I don't have to deal with 4 more years of hell.
Where have you people been? Pissed off wins elections. Why do you think they banned gay marriage in 2004 in battleground states? Republicans have been winning elections with a pissed off electorate since King Kong was a monkey... now is a chance for Democrats to.
In your previous thread - ow does she know what is in OB's head about H. Clinton.
I the rumor is true (time will tell)!Pres. Clinton's sit down with OB prior to Biden's demeaning himself and stating Sen. Clinton should have been OB's pick for VP - in a very soft and an appearance of being "ill" may lay the ground for his step down at the last minute to regain "MO". And OB's kiss and make up with Sen. Clinton.
I think he is full of regrets. Biden is like an anchor around his neck.
However, Sen. Clinton should beware. If he does re-select a VP he will display her like a trophy wife absorb her he knowledge and experience with needed and have her locked away in the basement the rest of the time? If she is on the scene she will out shine him!
Plus, it may put her out of the running in 2016 (age - everyone is concerned about age these days).
TIME WILL TELL!
Have a great day!
Rath150
Palin's "fireworks" will spit and sputter during her first and only debate.
I beg to differ, I think she will be very prepared (not rehearsed, don't misquote that!!) on election day. I think she'll give Biden a run for his money and I'd be willing to bet $20 (anyone care to wager?) that we'll see a major Biden gaffe, as usual.
"Stand up, Chuck, let 'em see ya."
hmmmm Time will tell but Biden's experience and knowledge will be to much for the newly schooled Palin.
I don't think that Dems should underestimate Palin. I think that is what we are expected to do. They will set the bar low and when she memorizes her speech perfectly, then she will have "hit it out of the park". She needs to be held to the same standards as the other candidates. When it comes to debates, the moderator is the most important factor. If they handle her with kid gloves, then it can give the illusion that she knows what she is talking about.
Agreed that Biden is more experienced and has spent a longer amount of time in the government (good or bad?), but I think the McCain/Obama debate is the one that we should care about. Obviously Palin/Biden will bring more action though.
Why is the election about Sarah Palin???? She brings absolutely NOTHING! She is only McCain's arm piece. She can't speak for herself and when she does it's contains no substance whatsoever. I have been trying to grasp the positions of both sides, but I have not heard anything remotely viable from the Republicans. Am I the only one still waiting to hear the substance? Did I miss it? If so, someone please point me in the direction as to where I can find their resolutions to the issues that concern me as a member of the middle-class?
I think all the hype - discussion - ridicule and negative things being said about Gov. Palin. Basically, that she is of no consequence is getting humorous to me.
I have never seen anyone, of NO significance or consequence, during my political tenure, who has been attacked with everything inbounds and historically out-of-bounds before.
This only re-enforces the conjecture that she is a definite. If she is not a legitimate threat then all efforts would be directed toward McCain -he is the one running for Pres. not Gov. Palin.
Almost comparisons are made with the OB not Biden - where they should be!! The comparisons should be made between the Presidential candidates - happen to be OB and McCain - at last check - RIGHT? I've been around longer than most of you! (72).
Why would anyone compare a non-Presidential candidate with a Presidential? SHE IS NOT RUNNING FOR THE PRESIDENCY!!!!!
Is anyone comparing Biden to McCain? Why? He is not important in the scheme of things.
Had Sen. Clinton been selected, just maybe the roles would have been reversed?
And the "R's" would have been going crazy instead the "D'".
After many years of marriage, I have found the best way to take the steam away from my significant other is to just shut up and let things take it's course. If I do other, it just builds up her "MO".
Then there is peace in the valley and everything goes back to the norm. If I am dumb enough to challenger her issue the stronger she develops her position - resulting pushing her further away and harder to get her back! HINT ! HINT!
The longer you attack her - especially on dumb issues (unfair) the more you take away from important issues and the harder it will be to get those that have left back.
Have a great day.
Rath150
It's not Palin that you have to worry about.
It's the American Public. It doesn't appear by the poll numbers that they want left wing socialism.
No amount of lipstick on that oink-er is going to make it any more palatable
Mike
I agree with you, but I think that the polls are not representative of the fabric of today's America or that they are truly random. There are just too many variables in today's society to take polls at face value. I believe that the polls are media hype.
Vern,
Really?
Yea, REALLY?
I think that sometimes polls can be exactly like what Vern1 is talking about. It just depends on how you want to sway your voters, and what kind of people those voters are. Think about it. If someone thinks something isn't going their way, there are different ways that that person can react. For instance, the person(s) may think it's hopeless and give up(i.e., not showing up at the polls)... Or it may bring the opposite reaction (i.e., showing up at the polls). I won't pretend to know everything about this, but I'm sure there are people who know how to manipulate this stuff to their advantage.
Palin needs to regret neglecting her children.....
Mabye Obama needs to regret neglecting his?
i love this argument from the democrats about Palin needing to be with her children. however, I have to agree: women should just stay home, cook, clean the house, spread their legs and shut up.
but then, this is not afghanistan, is it? here we don't discount a person's ability simply because she's a woman or BLACK!!!
Grow-up GOZO, that is really out of line! Has that EVER IN THE HISTORY of politics been said of ANY any man...EVER!?!?!?
Sarah Palin keeps referring to her years as governor. Maybe counting is another one of her areas of her expertise.
hehe, the only reason why Obama is not counting is because he has nothing to count. And the only reason why you don't like Palin counting is because, well, Obama has NOTHING to count.
What, 3 years in the senate with two of those years spent campaigning, social climbing, and self promoting? What's there to count?
It's the same argument that experience does not count. It is because he has none so he tries to turn the argument against McCain by saying it does not matter. Of course, to get him elected, voters are asked to bring their IDs, but can leave their brains behind.
I agree Vern! McCain/Palin are very adept at their do nothing dance to keep everyone in a spin. The important conversations about real issues is missing!!!
I agree with you too Mike! It's not Palin that everyone has to worry about....it is the American public but I think the media is helping perpetuate this whole dance. Don't you?!?
I think nearly everyone has already come down on one side or the other in this election. Unfortunately for us all, the race is so close both sides are fighting for those late deciders who will turn the outcome. Oftentimes, those voters choose by emotion rather than substance so each side begins to think to themselves...
"If only we can destroy that person's likeability."
Hense the attacks directed against Obama, McCain and Palin. Oddly, nobody seems to care much about Joe Biden. Mabye that's why Obama didn't choose Clinton. She might have been just another reason not to vote democrat.
Biden, the polls show, is the least liked candidate in this race, we don't have to attack him. Plus, he does a pretty good job of damaging himself, hear his recent quotes?
I love Joe if for nothing but the great quotes.
And he's given us some doozies since his introduction as running mate. I'm sure we'll hear more great ones debate night. I'm thinking something along the lines of "No Sarah, that's not a gun in my pocket. I don't support the 2nd amendment, I'm just happy to see you."
Honestly, Joe is not a bad guy. Goofey, but likable to me.
Tiff-491743
Biden, the polls show, is the least liked candidate in this race
A majority of voters, 60 percent, think that Biden is qualified to be president, while 31 percent think he is not.
By comparison, 48 percent of voters think Palin is qualified, while 44 percent think she is not.
"While Palin has electrified the base, her overall appeal is less than Biden's," Young said.

Tiff-491743,
You literally made me fall out of my chair and roll on the floor laughing out loud!!! (#67.4) ;-0...
Plus, he does a pretty good job of damaging himself, hear his recent quotes?
Looks like you and Biden have something in common. Some of your own quotes have greatly damaged your credibility.
Sgt. Pepper- i'm not running for office. that was rude too- these are my opinions, and as a 23 yo second time voter, I think I'm more educated on a lot of issues than most kids my age. At least i'm informed!
arcanebliss (here we go again)- i said least liked candidate, not least qualified. check out rasmussenreports.com every once in a while.
Which is more important? Whether a candidate is "liked" or whether a candidate is qualified for the job?
The point is that the thread was about Biden's likability. i think being qualified is important, but I think the #1 should be more qualified than the #2. I'd have to say too, that after being in the senate for 30 some odd years, he should have more than 60% saying he's qualified!
Well, the same can be said of John McCain. After being in Washington for 30 years, he should have more than 45-50% saying he's qualified.
McCain will be the one regretting his choice for running mate before this election is over.
I really don't think so. whether or not it was a choice of expediency, Sarah Palin is here to stay and she will be the democrats biggest nightmare for years to come.
That is way there is such verocity to destroy her and to do it quickly.
funny, I have not seen Biden since the convention. Did he die, move to another country, join the Taliban or something? I thought he was running for vice president.
Only time I've seen him on the news lately was when he told that poor crippled guy to stand up.
Oh, yea...he also told the media that Hillary Clinton probably would have been a better choice for VP.
Other than that, he's been pretty much under the radar.
Gotta love Joe
well, if he doesn't speak, there's nothing he can say wrong, right? he's being sequestered (hehe, i know he wants to come out and play, but no one wants to play with him) and no one's complaining. that is funny. but then, no one wants to hear from him. so, no one misses him.
pathetic!
I have seen the future...Palin (after McCain does his eight years) will be the first woman president...beating Clinton (Hillary) by a landslide...thats so very way-cool!!!
Tiff,
I think you scared away all the crazies...
i stand corrected. they're back.
Hold up.
Palin commented on Hillary, negatively, for "whining" about media coverage? What does she call what she's doing now? She releases a bunch of information to the press and then the McCampaign declares Shenanigans when the media (gasp!) talks about it.
Do you heart double standards, the destruction of civil liverty National Security™, and living in fear? GOP 2008.
Steve,
How do you post all that cool stuff with the lines through it and the uppercase TM?
I must be like John McCain, digitally innept. I don't see how to quote others, add bold, line through and all that.
Help me man, please?
tiff, wouldn't Irag be a nice country for the U.S. to "have"?! Georgia and Russia are onehellofalot closer to each other than the U.S. and Iraq. Second thought, wouldn't Georgia (with it's pipelines and port) be a nice country for the U.S. to "have"? Wait, let's go for broke! Hows abouts Sweden! Let's just have it all. Bolivia, Venezuela...hell, the whole damned South American continent. Let's "have" that crap! We can prop up dictators, let them run roughshod so we can gets their resources on the cheap, cap they asses, then takes it back again in a liberation (see Rumsfeld shaking Saddams hand//see Reagan Administration giving Saddam coordinates to gas the Kurds, see those OIL FIELDS liberated and auctioned off at U.S. taxpayer expense! See U.S. arming the Taliban to fight....ta'da!!! Russia! Full circle. Where's Kevin Bacon?
We don't want to "have" them, we just want to "help" them with things like access to Costcos and a Starbucks on every corner.
God bless America. (as a single tear falls gently on his check)
:-)
Like she, or any Republican are cognitive enough to know what's inside Obama's head. Is it being, arrogant or vain?
Of course she doens't know what's in Obamas head. None of us really do. That's one problem.
But yet again, she is only speaking common sense, what just about everybody other than the most diehard democrat can understand, that Obama missed the moment and allowed McCain to seize the day.
Carpe Diem.
McCain may be one old geezer, but he is tough as nails and understands the American voter.
Palin may have been the choice of expediency, but she is now the democrats worst nightmare as evidence by the polls, the media hype, and the vitriol on this board. She will be arround for a long time and the democrats are just now beginning to wake up to it.
Like a really bad hangover.
LOL. The ones that get it, and had enough will vote for him. The clueless ones always fall for the Repubs sophistic lies in any event, or they are White supremacist who wouldn't vote for anyone with an IQ above 65 even if they weren't black..
Go to www.twovoters.com to learn the truth about what Obama thinks. You'll be surprised. Please watch this very important message and then pass along. There are great facts about the cost of war, the relationship between Bush and McCain, and startling facts about the economy you don't want to miss.
Please visit the website for more information!
Palin is old news. McCain can't defend himself or his platform on the campaign trail. He needs a woman to do it.
That would be a much more effective approach for Obama than trying to show he managed a larger campaign budget than the town of Wasilla.
You need to send your input to your candidate... he is wasting a lot of time on a VP candidate.
I would like to know how she can wake up and look at herself in the mirror knowing that she was picked because she is a woman and because she is as subordinate as a Roomba. I just don't get how she can pick on Hillary Clinton for some bad press but accuses anyone who criticizes her of being sexist. If this is who you want in the white house you must be either a very lonely man and a very dumb woman.....
I was reading a post above re wanting to have Iraq. I was going to respond, but thought I'd just post separately.
The problem is, many people do not understand what is happening. There is approximately 50 years or less left of oil. Couple that with a burgeoning global population and dwindling resources. Couple that again with Russia and China vying for global power.
The whole Iraq debacle is under the pretense of getting rid of Al Qaeda -- which is too simplistic, but simple enough that Americans can understand. The true goal is keep China and Russia at bay, and protect American -- that means you and me -- interests safe. If there ever is a war, it ensures that wars happen abroad and not on the mainland. You can say that Iraq is the line in the sand.
So, if you think that voting Obama would get us out of Iraq, you are gravely mistaken. We will be there until the time that alternative fuel is discovered and perfected. In the meantime, oil is all we know and we weill be there to make sure we have plenty of it while at the same time making sure that by keeping China and Russia's hand out of the middle east, we ensure that they do not become strong enough to challenge the U.S. Which means even if Obama won, we will not have any choice but to keep troops in Iraq.
I have read most of this thread and must comment.
I am clearly an Obama supporter but more importantly I am an anti-third term Bush voter
Can someone tell me what makes Mccain/Palin different from Bush/Channey
I am from OHIO our unemployment number announced this week is 7.1%
I work in real estate, we have one of the highest foreclosure rates in the country.
We are feeling all 8 years of the failed polices of this administration.
The message is crystal clear... If things are good for you and this is not your reality....than vote for a continuation of the policies...... but if your America looks like mine vote for Change
Obama/Biden for Change
Your pain started when the Dems took over Congress...think about it.
You may know your pain but you don't know mine. You think about it...
OHIO pain started in 2001. I believe the Republicans were still in office.
Our pain will continue with Mccain and Palin since they offer no really policy differences....But she sure is Purdy....
Our pain started with Taft, Blackwell and Bush... as simmons points out, speak not about that which you do not know.
If Ohio is in pain because of the Repubs, then this poll (Monday, September 08, 2008) shows that they have great painkillers:
The latest Fox News/Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in Ohio, finds John McCain out in front of Barack Obama 51% to 44%...
McCain is viewed favorably by 63% of Ohio voters and unfavorably by 35%. Obama's ratings are 50% favorable, 48% unfavorable.... - source: link
Also, you can really thank Greenspan for "...one of the highest foreclosure rates in the country..." scince he did not do his job.
Please quit spamming the threads with the same comment, posting it in one thread is sufficient enough. Or, you could seed the poll if you like - which will bring more attention to it. Thank you.
Thank you, too...
So not to vote for someone other than a republican is a waste of time...we will be in Iraq for 50 years or more to collect that oil...the real reason for the war but hey we 'gave' them FREEDOM and so there!
So sick because people like Tiff who claims to make $29K with 2, count them 2 degrees but sees the future of making over 100K or more therefore must give that tax group permanent tax breaks because one day, one day she will be a millionaire! So what if others are left with this debt, she sees herself as ABOVE the fray..above real people working to live.
I finally understand why trailer people vote republican...not only because they are told that BLACKS will get something for FREE but that in their minds they are those rich people. I had never understood why poor and uneducated voted against their best interest and why they never associated Pres Bush as 'rich/wealthy' when Kerry ran against him. The press (really not liberal) stated how much money Kerry had and his rich wife...remember the ketchup labels but no one talked about Bush's $45K pair of BOOTS!!!!! That man has over 40 pairs with his name stitched in along with the oval office detail. That is an elitist! But hey Bush stutters and says aw shucks I am just a cowboy...Regan did the same but hey these people are RICH but only democrats are touted as this.
Anyway back on subject it must be devine justice that Palin can read minds. I mean she was for the bridge, against the bridge, for ear marks, against ear marks but hey "I know Obama must regret not picking Hillary" ...too bad about YouTube..when Palin claimed that Hillary was a 'whiner' but hey that is ok with the Puma's for they will show the world their power no matter what!
Vote for your choice we all have made our selection and republicans I hope you get what you deserve, I really do for you really need to feel the heat and suffer. You have been above the hurt for now but with more banks closing, more homes in forclosure and jobs lost, but that does not matter for that Black will not be in office and that is the realy victory!!!! Peace
Only thing Sarah's been right about is that Obama made the biggest mistake of his caeer not choosing Hillary as running mate.
He would not have been able to govern effectively if he did that. She would never have been a willing #2. Not only that, but her husband (and his ego) would have been all over place.
If he did choose Hillary THAT would have been the biggest mistake of his career.
Palin doesn't know what Obama does or does not regret but her comment is sexist on its face. It clearly wasn't anti-Biden. So what was it? Pro-Hillary? Or just an acknowledgment that she, like Hillary, has a vagina? Because it seems an awful lot like the latter, and an admission that two vaginas would cancel each other out. Which is just stupid.
And who's to say Hillary didn't make it clear to Obama ages ago that she wasn't interested in being VP? Or that there might be other reasons (financial records, etc) that Clinton might have been a poor choice? I don't know these things, Palin doesn't know these things, but she's adept at attempting at least to sow discord in the Democratic Party.
Palin a Politician: News at 11.
The electorate will deserve the leadership it gets. I just hope I have no one on this sight whining in the fall of 2012 if we are fighting four wars with a McCain/Palin presidency; the homeless thrown on the streets because they want to depend on welfare not work; the uninsured (for healthcare) because they are not smart enough to have Health Savings Accounts. Need I say more.
Reminds me of an old joke: Why did Bill Clinton ban skirts in the Whitehouse? yea, you guessed it; because he didn't want Hillery's balls to show! :-)
If that were true, I believe that Hillary would just come out and tell everybody that she didn't want the position, after all the grief these sites and the media has given Obama on this topic. It would seem to me that she (and Obama) would want to put an end to the subject once and for all.
If she came out and said "I never wanted it", it would draw attention away from Biden and Obama who are the candidates, and undermine Biden by suggesting he wasn't Obama's first or best choice. Whether or not she wanted the position is immaterial - lots of people wanted the position - it's whether or not she supports the slate of candidates her party has presented. And she has done so, in spades.
This isn't to say she can't come out and artfully redirect the question, to one of unquestioned support for Biden, and how he's a good choice, and a far better choice than Palin. Because that's who Palin's up against - Biden, no Clinton. Clinton might just be the best person to remind us all of that - and not with utterances or small statements, but with something bold. She could do that AND not "attack" Palin, even. She could just lay out the case of why a) Biden was a good choice, and b) Biden is a BETTER choice than Palin.
Hillary does support Biden and she knows that Biden is better thatn Palin, yet the comments continue.......
She does and yes, she knows. I merely argue that she could make that case more powerfully to the American public, without any suggestion that she wanted to be VP herself, much less should have been. I think she's the perfect person for the job. I think it's do-able. And I think it's what's needed.
One more segment of the Palin interview tonight, and then they do the first part of the Biden interview right after. Should be as entertaining as it will be informative.
