US dollar lower, gold falls in morning trading

The U.S. dollar was mostly lower against other major currencies in European trading Wednesday morning. Gold fell.

The euro traded at $1.4144, up from $1.4083 late Tuesday in New York.

Other dollar rates:

_106.05 Japanese yen, down from 106.37

_1.1156 Swiss francs, down from 1.1240

_1.0552 Canadian dollars, up from 1.0399

The British pound was quoted at $1.7821, up from $1.7784.

Gold traded in London at $876.00 per troy ounce, down from $884.50 late Tuesday.
