Newspaper poll shows Obama up 7 points in Ohio

COLUMBUS — A new poll suggests Barack Obama has a seven-point lead over John McCain in Ohio.

The Columbus Dispatch says Sunday that Obama leads 49 percent to 42 percent among likely voters in the important battleground state.

The newspaper's poll was conducted Sept. 24-Oct. 3 by mail among 2,262 likely Ohio voters. The margin of sampling error was plus or minus 2.2 percentage points.

A poll done by the Dispatch in the middle of August suggested McCain had a 42 percent to 41 percent lead. Obama's support among Ohio Democrats has increased 10 percent since then, and he now has the backing of two-thirds of those who voted for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton in the March 4th primary.

In the August poll, just half of Clinton's supporters said they were behind Obama.

I think voters in Ohio and in other swing states will begin to take a more intellectual approach to this election, and if that's the case, Obama will win.  Of course, McCain doesn't want voters to look at this election intellectually.  He wants to appeal to your emotions. Therefore, he will lie about Obama's record and distort Obama's personal history. He will seek to paint Obama as un-America, different, naive, different, unprepared, different, and did I say "different". He will pander to your fears and disrespect your intelligence. And he will try to tap into your natural, instinctive weariness of the unknown. He will resurrect every shady and semi-shady character that Obama has ever come in contact with, no matter the circumstance, and no matter how brief the contact.

Why?

Because McCain knows that if he doesn't try to appeal to your emotion; and if he doesn't lie, cheat, connive, divide, polarize, distort, disrespect and tap in your fears, he would never get elected.

But it won't work this time. Because people in Ohio, Virginia, Florida, other swing states and all over the country realize that this election is just too important to be influenced by emotional fear.

It is time to show McCain and the Republican party that Americans aren't as dumb as they think we are.

Let's not forget about the "REAL" McCain:

Boy, McCain is really in trouble in this election. He is behind in every state that was won by Kerry in 2004, plus all of the following states that were won by Bush: Iowa, New Mexico, Colorado, Virginia, Ohio and Florida. And Nevada, North Carolina, Missouri and Indiana are extremely close and could go to Obama as well. This is getting to look more like a possible landslide election.

For those who like Obama's Health Care Plan to make it Universal and give the government full control over it, I found something that I hope will make you think harder. There are only 3 countries that have universal health care: Canada, Cuba and Korea.

One Radio Talk Show in Canada talked about the crisis in their health care system yesterday (Oct. 4, 2008). Listen to it. If America adopts the same system, we will have the same crisis down the road.

Roger, I fully agree with you...if you take into consideration the phone polls and all the people that only use a cell phone now instead of a land line, it could be the landslide in the making.

But I hope no one thinks that there will be a landslide victory...because I don't want anyone to get complacent and say our man is going to win easy and then not go vote.

This is the first time in many years that I have been excited about a Presidential election and the first time I have been moved by what a candidate says since JFK. I guess I have drank the koolaid as they say..hehe

As is, McCain has to hold onto what he has now just to keep in the running. If he loses just one more toss-up state, he's out. The wild card is if he manages to take back any of those states which are leaning Obama's way.

I think McCain is just trying to maintain some dignity...he doesn't want to lose by a landslide and cause him and his ego embarrassment...

The further Barack gets ahead, the more desperate McCain becomes. He bears serious watching because I honestly think he'll get downright dangerous before this is done.

Think about McCain and his white flag of surrender that he waved in Michigan because he was LOSING and he didnt think a SURGE was going to work because his message was not SUCCEEDING
