BRIGANTINE — A second dead dolphin has been found in a New Jersey river that has been home lately to a wayward pod of the animals.
Teri Frady, a spokeswoman for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, said Wednesday that the dolphin had been dead for some time.
The dolphin was found in the Navesink (NAH'-vuh-sink) River, not far from where the first was discovered dead in recent weeks.
Marine mammal scientist Bob Schoelkopf (SHOHL'-kawf) says he has no doubt the latest dead dolphin was one of 15 that have been living in the area since June.
Scientists are investigating to find out how the second dolphin died.
