Fineman: Obama targeting McCain's own state?

advertisement

AGO - What do states like Georgia, South Carolina, North Dakota and even Arizona have in common?

They’re all reach states that the Obama campaign now believes could be in play.

Thanks in part to an astonishing $150 million take in September, the Democrat has his eyes on some unlikely prizes, including McCain’s own home turf.

“Our strategy all along has been to expand the playing field," said David Plouffe, Obama’s meticulous and cautious campaign manager. "People thought we were crazy, but it is paying off.”

Granted, he was listing these off the top of his head, and didn't reveal the campaign's actual state-by-state committments, but still — it's news nonetheless.

“We’re in a pretty good position right now,” concedes Plouffe. “We’re competing in and for states no one thought would be in play.”

It appears to be part of a larger campaign strategy to win big with the Electoral College — and not settle for a narrow November victory.

Spread the wealth?
What else will come of this major moolah? Well, we know one thing, it's not going to the other Democrats eager to maximize the party's majorities in Congress.

On a visit to Obama headquarters here in Chicago, I asked Plouffe about the "spread the wealth" idea.

The Obama campaign has “all we can handle,” he said.

Rather than funnel cash directly to Senate and House candidates — which Plouffe said would be legal — the campaign argues that its ground-level organizing work in the states on behalf of all Democrats is worth millions, and more than makes up for any cash donations the campaign might make.

Plouffe cited North Carolina as an example.

“We have done extensive registration and turn out work, and that is paying off for everyone,” he said. In the Tar Heel state, he said, the grassroots work has helped Democrat Kay Hagan pull ahead of Sen. Liddy Dole.

“That wouldn’t be happened without our effort there,” Plouffe said.

Less than giddy at Obama HQ
Given the state of the race, might think that the atmosphere would be giddy in Obama headquarters on Michigan Ave. in downtown Chicago.

Not exactly.

When I walked in for my first visit in months the atmosphere was the same as it was then: quiet, purposeful, and no-nonsense.

On what looked like a vast open trading floor, the twenty- and thirty-somethings went about their business, none of them in coats and ties, many of them looking like graduate students, would-be lawyers, and MBAs crashing a collaborative research project.

Lessons from New Hampshire
On an easel outside the entrance, the first person to work that morning — a retired school administrator named Mary Shepard Hughes — had written an inspiration and an a warning: “TWO SHORT WEEKS. TWO LITTLE WORDS: NEW HAMPSHIRE.”

In a campaign that has, from the start, functioned with incredible smoothness overall, the unexpected primary loss of New Hampshire to Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton still rankles — and serves as a cautionary tale.

But the campaign took away lessons from that setback. “Hillary was attacking us pretty hard and we didn’t respond enough, or quickly enough,” Plouffe told me. “We learned that you’ve got to deal with everything.”

Keeping all the cash on hand is one way to make sure they can respond to anything McCain might throw out in the last two weeks.

The Obama campaign has returned fire — hard — on everything from Bill Ayers to taxes.

“They remember how John Kerry was 'swift-boated' and they want the cash on hand to prevent that this time,” said a top Obama fundraiser here. “They’re not going to make the Kerry mistake."

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

Wow millions of dems contribute to Obama and his manager won't share the wealth. Stay tuned when the Obama and Dem Socialist Governemnt confiscates the wealth of Americas rich and then sits on it. Now somone such as I, who as a middle class income person making less than $250,000 a year will now get the OVER STIFILING TAX burden lowered a little and that will be called a tax "Break" NO increase tax for me...yipeee I only have to drown in a ton of taxes instead of a mountain of taxes. Thank you Mr. Obama for your kindness to me by lowering the 500,000 gallon tank of water I'm drowning in, down to a lower drownign level of 499,000 gallons of water and calling it a break. Welcome America, to your future SOCIALIST STATE. All embrace the great Messiah Obama that the prophet COLON BOWELS proclaimed is coming and welcome in the firts and worst Black Presidency of all times, that will even make Carter's era a picnic.

Jack Baum, did you return the $600.00 socialist rebate Bush paid out of Government funds?? You were "drowning" in taxes then while he lowered the tax on the higher income earners?? What changed for you that the rest of us didn't receive?? The Bush "rescue" buying out the loans and propping up the lenders isn't socialism?? The government according to Bush will now own shares in these Institutions and have a seat at the table of these companies, but won't vote.  Wow, is that not socialist?? What does the govenment have to own before you admit that the GOP is guilty of socialism?? If they monitor your phone and e-mail in the name of National security, isn't that socialism, more likely Communism. But, to you guys, they're only monitoring those Un-American Democrats. What have you got against a Black man being President. Does his skin not look like yours?? Do you eat at a Chinese, Italian, Greek, or any other ethic restaurant?? Or you worried they might poison a bigot?? What makes whites the only "real" Americans and of that group only those who are Republicans?? The world has seen superior races come and go, mostly go. It'll be a better world when racists and bigots are gone.

dal- you should educate yourself before you post. It will prevent you from looking like a fool (again). Twice in the last 2 years legislation was introduced that would have reigned in Freddie-Mac and Fannie-Mea's unsafe lending practices. Both measures were killed in commity by the democrats. What the DEMOCRATICALLY controlled Senate and House did by passing the Wall Street bail-out is not socialism. It is the very definition of communism. The tax and social policies the Messiah is proposing are based on Marxism. As in "From each according to their ability. To each according to their need."

Lets see - we independents and demos send little monies to Obama because McCain infuriates us so (everytime I get angry at McCain and his disqusting remarks I send more money to Obama, methinks everyone else does also) - so he gets $150 million - methinks McCain has angered alot of people....

But the GOP spends $150,000 on Palins wardrobe....  and you repubs wonder why McCain is loosing - its because he isnt spending his money properly which is just ANOTHER SIGN of a bad presidential leader - he cant control his own GOP....  $150,000 WOULD HAVE HELPED ALOT OF PEOPLE other than a wardrobe...

Dal -that is the single most ignorant statement of the day.  The democrats passed virtually all social legislation.  They brought social security out of private trust.  they invented the subprime.  The welfare state was born under LBJ.  Today 50% of entire cost of government is medicare and social security.  McCain has passed nothing on the books that resembles socialization.  Yeah, it was a bad plan by McCain.  But, to make your statement, you must be ignorant of history and your government,  Hell, it was Gore that broke a tie vote to make social security taxable.  Carter stopped the spending cap on congress.

Obama would have you believe that he, not science in the private sector wil pick the right future for alternative fuel.  He also says that it is better to bring tax dollars through a bloated and expensive government rather than leaving them in the private sector.  He said that he believed in re-distribution.  Guy, that's Karl Marx.

Every major piece of bueacracy from department of education to title nine came from the democrats.  They stopped drilling for energy.  They interned the Japanese in WW2.

it is not a blessing to be ignorant.

Once upon a time in America, there was a presidential election.  This election pitted a Republican who was tied to a very unpopular previous president against a Democrat with a new face in Washington, who touted himself as an agent of change and a rebellion against the current "crooks in Washington".  This previous election pitted Gerald Ford (R) against Jimmy Carter (D).  The media fawned over Carter and spread malicious lies about Ford.  Because I was angry at the encumbent, I voted for change--I voted for Jimmy Carter.  Four years later, our economy was in shambles, we had been embarrased by a backward Muslim country, and our taxes and unemployment were at the highest levels in a century.  We were a laughing stock of the modern world.  After those four years I vowed never to vote for such a candidate ever again.  Now, we are in the same situation.  Obama claims to be a change agent, but he is a charlatan.  What's more, our Congress is an even bigger body of fools, without any credibility or capability to govern our country.  The fools in this blog are asking me to consider voting for Obama.  I would not consider such a stupid vote, even if the liberals subjected me to "waterboarding".  However, I have concluded that the American people usually get just what we deserve, and at this crisis in our history we deserve Obama, a charlatan and a deceiver.  All of you who vote for him will likely be as delusioned as I was almost thirty years ago.

dal- You seem to believe that pointing out that Iran is a Muslim country is a negative remark. Why is that? Do you see Muslims as inferior to other people? Even if Dr. Littlejohn did intend the Muslim distinction to be less than flattering it still does not make him/her a racist. Any one of any race can be a "Muslim" (although I admit confusion when it comes to being Jewish. Is being a Jew a racial or a religious indentity? Anyone?) So if you had called Dr. Littlejohn a religious bigot you would at least have had the chance to be correct. By calling him/her a "racist" you merely prove your own ignorance. I re-state my earlier suggestion that you educate yourself before posting. As it is you look like an uneducated Obamite.

                      Erik, Erik, Erik,

Sometimes I have to correct Repubs with slanderous statements. Like terrorist, try to say a guy is Muslim for their own purposes, or like you who confuse a Presidential nominee with Messiah or Prophet. My friends use to call me Republican in views although I never claimed a party. I find the Republican hardliners are getting a little "gray" on facts and the old book they went by is being rewritten. We can no longer call them the Republican party of old. Teen pregnancy. The old party would have slammed Palin hard for that. Bailout. The old party would have said this is socialism and not sold out. Gay marriage. The old party would have said no and not been divided. I find the new party is more corrupt and narrow than it has ever been and name calling and conjecture seems to be an everyday staple. So you see Erik you fit right in. And dmac understand that you should educate yourself because you know the spin and you have been spinning. Reading your earlier posts I see you are also a Repub hater.

My guess IF you are a Dr. you may be a little nervous about that $250,000 or more TAX?  Too bad leave the country and go where the government will leave you alone. We will not miss you.  I suppose the word socialist has you shaking in your $500.00 shoes. Are you afraid that you won't be able to squeeze every last dollar from our broken health care system.

Again IF you are a Dr. you certainly can not be stupid enough to favor that lame excuse for a candidate and his trained bimbo.

Dr Littlejohn: you've never been water boarded,  You would break in a very short time.  You are in the "same situation" because of a dimwitted President Bush and his rubber stamp congress.  You call yourself "Dr" which is pretentious...the physicians in my family who graduated and work at Ivy League medical schools and teaching hospitals, never feel the necessity to use their professional title, "Dr".  Judging from your ignorant comments, you didn't get a very good education!

Dr Littlejohn, your post proves that you should hold any further opinions about the middle east until you read a little more about the history of the area.  Iran is hardly a "backward Muslim country", either in its present state or in the history of its people.

As for being embarassed - we should have been embarassed years earlier when Ike helped the Shah oust the Prime Minister and he and subsequent US presidents looked the other way when the Shah jailed and tortured dissidents.  We should have been embarassed that we worked with the Shah to foment discord and arm rebels in Iraq, which directly led to the escalation in fighting between the Turks and the Kurds and Saddam's coup.

In order to legitimize Israel, we supported a dictator which led to another dictator in another country and a hardcore Muslim revolution in the first.  We have a lot to be embarassed for.  Carter is not the cause, however.  He's merely the man who was our president when our previous actions caught up with us.

I would like a president who understands all of this, not one who was for Saddam before he was aganst him. Not one who was a member of the Council for World Freedom during Iran-Contra and backed policies and presidents who escalated the tensions between Iran and Iraq.

The last 8 years have not been BAD....George Bush was a wonderful president until the media decided to turn against him because we had another election coming up & they needed to discredit him and get a democrat in office.  He pulled us through the 9/11 attacks with compassion and expertise.  It was a terrible time and I shudder to think what the democrat charlatans would have done.  Sent apologies to the muslim families of the men who attacked us maybe???  Get over your constant whining about the last 8 years..................it's the past 2 years that have been in shambles.  Remember, the Democrat run Congress??? That is what has happened to our economy and the attitude of the United States of America.

So If Barak Obama is our "Savior" what was he doing 8 years ago? NOTHING!!!! At least the other 3 involved in this race were participating in running our country.

Another point, you all whine about how Bill Clinton beat George Bush Sr, well if Ross Perot had not been running as an independent and taking that portion of the votes, Clinton would NEVER have won...........it wasn't his popularity or ability, it was a third lame horse in the race taking votes away from President Bush.

The Constitution has been ignored by Bush and I don't mind telling you how. There is an Executive, Legislative, and Judicial Branch of Government(basic civics) that have separate powers. Congress has oversight of the Executive Branch and proposes bills enacts laws, Judicial is supposed to interpret the Constitution. The Executive initiates policy. When you have an Executive Branch that has refused to answer subpoenas from Congress, has ignored the Foreign Intelligence Security Act ( having the Attorney General approve warrants instead of the Court), outed a CIA agent, lied under oath(Libby), Cheney calling himself a part of the Legislature (V.P. is President of Senate not a legislator..read Constitution) to avoid scrutiny(he is actually part of the Executive Branch), use the AG's office to fire and prosecute individuals your party sees as a threat, how muck more do you need to realize that these actions are taking liberties from the Constitution? You may think these are just little points, but when one Branch of Government refuses to abide by the Constitution it is taking liberties from us all.

Tenntom - If you don't think that you've been affected, then you are only looking at a narrow view of your pocketbook and not the overall picture.  We've all been affected, whether we are one of the million + people who are incorrectly on the "terror watch list" or have had our phone calls used against us.

It's ironic that the party who keeps talking about our founding fathers, their intent and their Christianity is the party that redacted parts of the Constitution through laws passed since 9-11, masquerading the redactions as Executive Orders and anti-terrorism bills.  Always remember that many of our founding fathers knew the temptations and justifications that both good and bad men could use to remodel the country to their own liking.

When asked what type of nation had been created, Ben Franklin replied "A Republic, if you can keep it".  We haven't been good stewards of that republic.  We've allowed party and religious affiliations to do damage to it.  We've allowed fear and bad policy do damage to it.  We've allowed hatred to damage to it.

As for what Obama brings to the table...

"All, too, will bear in mind this sacred principle, that though the will of the majority is in all cases to prevail, that will to be rightful must be reasonable; that the minority possess their equal rights, which equal law must protect, and to violate would be oppression."

"Difference of opinion is advantageous in religion. The several sects perform the office of a Censor - over each other."

"Every generation needs a new revolution."

"He who knows best knows how little he knows."

"I abhor war and view it as the greatest scourge of mankind."

                              "I cannot live without books."

"I have seen enough of one war never to wish to see another."

"I like the dreams of the future better than the history of the past."

All the above quotes come from Thomas Jefferson.  I think he would have voted for Obama.  He certainly would have admired him.

I am going to post this again because it bears repeating. Read something called "Block the Vote". The Repubs came out with all kinds of laws to make it harder for Democrats to vote. It worked for Bush in 2004 and they are hoping it will work for Mccain. These little nuisances nullify many votes in particular four states.

                                http://suzieqq.wordpress.com/2008/10/18/block-the-vote/

EVERYONE NEEDS TO GET OUT AND VOTE FOR OBAMA. These tricks worked for Bush and lets not have it happen now

I am one of the many volunteers for the Obama campaign making calls from my home into battleground states.  Our calls encourage voters to consider supporting local and congressional democrats as well as Obama for President.  In this valuable and crucial way, we are already sharing the funds from our  campaign.  Thousands of Obama supporters are campaigning on behalf of various Democrats all over the country.  We are giving our time so that Obama's campaign can concentrate these funds on winning this election.

The big trick is how Obama will come up with a real birth certificate before we have an election, cause if he don't he can't be president and if the dems try to shove this thru then we could have a civil war.

I am one of many Obama campaign volunteers making calls from my home into battleground states.  When we call, we encourage voters to support local and congressional democrats, as well as Obama for President.  In this way we are already donating to the campaigns of other democrats throughout the nation.  Obama received most of his campaign funds from ordinary people who want him to campaign hard and win this election.  Should he spend the money we gave for his campaign for a different purpose other than for what it was given?  Here's a suggestion:  If you want to discuss truly inappropriate spending, why don't you check out Sarah Palin's recent expenditures at Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Ave!

The difference here is that Barack Obama bought his own clothes.  The RNC (PUBLIC FUNDING) bought Sarah Palin's.  Therefore millerz, you bought Palin that ridiculous red leather jacket...maybe she'll send it to you when she heads back to Alaska.

The Obama campaign has spent close to $500,000.00 for Michelle Obama's wardrobe and over $150,000.00 on their children.

Barak Obama has spent a little less at just over $100, 000.00.

I could just leave these numbers out there and point to some website that I got these numbers from or some right wing publication but the truth is I do not know how much they have spent because they make the CIA look open.

If we are going to have true openess with our politicians I am all for letting everyone know how much is spent on clothing but if one side gets slammed but a place calling themselves a news organization and then admitting to getting a tingle up their leg when hearing the other party's candidate speak I have to save journalism has died and if this artical made you vote for Obama then maybe you need to examine your value system.

Can anyone imagine how much merchandise $75,000 would buy in a toy store no matter how upscale???
This is just another indication of just how McCain would govern. Perks for his supporters and those that agree with his positions and for everyone else, "Let them eat cake!" (we all know how well that worked out for the French aristrocracy, don't we?)
Perhaps the reason that there are no numbers for the Obama campaign is because the DNC didn't participate in this kind of activity? I don't know. But, I agree that it woud be an interesting piece of information to have. In the meantime please everyone, regardless of your party affiliation or choice of presidential candidates, make your voice be heard, VOTE!

DS-657773 is a perfect example of an Obama supporter. So quick to attack anyone who does not support the Obama they fail to see the facts that are right in front of their face. Let me help you out DS: JL-371945 clearly states in his post that "...the truth is I do not know how much they have spent...". You, like many others, know you are making a mistake by supporting Obama (or McCain for that matter) so you attack the messenger while totally ignoring the message. Our "leaders" and the media have convinced you to ignore your logical, rational and correct conclusions and instead have scared you into believing only the government can save you.

The reason it may matter is

                                            1. An emotional/interpretive one - There aren't many hockey moms spending 150k at upscale retail stores.  That might be considered more "elitist".

                                            2. A legal one - Several lawyers versed in election law believe it may be illegal to use campaign contributions for "wardrobe".

The "All Barack Channel- and the National Barack Channel- and the rest of the left-wing media have done everything in their power to "dismiss" anything negative from their "teflon Candidiate"- The Messiah.

The Polls are wrong and YOUR VOTE WILL COUNT.
By their own admission, the pollsters have stated that they have been asking heavily Democrat voters.
This is still America- last time I checked. And the American people will speak November 4th.
Do not stay home- that's what they are counting on.
Meanwhile Obama's group ACORN is busily stuffing the ballot boxes with fraudulant voter registration AND outright voter FRAUD.
If you live in a state with early voting- take advantage of it- so that you won't wait in long lines on Election Day.
                                            Vote with like-minded friends- CARPOOL.
We have to insure that the very fabric of our country is not-railroaded by these insidious people.
And please- as much as it may break your heart not to vote for "your" candidate- be it Hillary, Huckabee, Paul, Romney, Barr or Baldwin- DON'T throw your vote away by voting your heart.
This is a two party system and it's going to be either McCain or Obama.
We cannot have an inexperienced candidate with a questionable background who will surely (by his running mate's own admission) invite a disater like a terror attack on the U.S. or a nuclear strike by Iran on Israel- to "test his mettle." That's because these foreign despots  dictators and MADMEN know he is weak and will deliver the United States on a platter to them.
Socialism- code word "spread the wealth around"- is just the beginning, people.
Have you not seen the children chanting "The One's" name and those black Obama training camps for young thugs?

Now ACORN is stuffing ballot boxes?  Interesting!!  Voter registration fraud in some cases, probably.  People making up names on voter registration cards so they get more, definitely.  Voter fraud, not until Mickey Mouse votes.

voter fraud and registration fraud, hmmm.

                                              From Fox news:

"Republican Voter Registration Chief Arrested for Fraud in California
The head of a signature-gathering firm hired by the California Republican Party was arrested over the weekend for allegedly lying about his address to to vote in the state."

                                              Funniest post of the day

Yet even after the Justice Department declared the war against voter fraud a "high priority," only 24 people were convicted of illegal voting in federal elections between 2002 and 2005 -- and nobody was even charged by Justice with impersonating another voter.

And despite the anti-immigrant frenzy fueling photo-ID laws, only 14 noncitizens were convicted of illegally voting in federal elections from 2002 through 2005 -- mostly because of their ignorance of election law.

This out of millions of people..

I think it is safe to say that actual voter fraud is very, very rare.

Because Christie it doesn't matter.  ACORN hasn't been indicted on anything.  They got ripped off by people working for them and the Reps are spinning it to suit them.  ACORN hired some lazy ass people too lazy to go out and actually register people.  So they sat their asses down in some air conditioned room and went through a phone book to get names.  Because they get paid by the amount of people they register.  So really ACORN was being ripped off.

Ask any one of these people that @!$%# about ACORN to prove ACORN has been indicted.  They can't.  It's a non-story.  That they are being investigated is also a non-story.  The Reps have tried unsuccessfully for years to try to "catch" them in anything.  It's hilarious.

Marion, last time I checked, it isn't voter fraud unless Mickey Mouse himself shows up at the poll and tries to vote. If not, who cares whether someone wrote down Mickey Mouse's name on the registration. He won't be able to vote.

By law, ACORN is required to turn in every single registration form that has been filled out...even if they know that some of them are likely to be fraudulent. If anyone is guilty of voter registration fraud, it's the individuals that ACORN employed, simply because they were paid by how many registrations were filled out. The individuals were perpetuating a fraud on ACORN, not ACORN perpetuating a fraud on the state.

ACORN knew those forms were not real, but by law they were still required to turn them in. In fact, they even helped the registrations clerks with their jobs because they themselves flagged those registration forms as potential frauds.

And like I said, unless someone shows up and tries to vote as Mickey Mouse, there is no harm to the electorate or to democracy.

YES, YES, YES!!  Come to Arizona!!  Can't speak to what might be happening in Phoenix, but here in Tucson there is a tremendous amount of support for Obama/Biden.  It's pretty amazing actually.  Having lived here for just a year, I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of Obama supporters, and I've been asking myself for months "could McCain really lose his own state?", and I've felt that answer to be YES, and even if McCain does win here, I don't believe it will be by the margin that Obama will win his own state by.

Well Stella I have lived just outside of Phoenix for 12 years and I can assure you that he who wins Phoenix and Maricopa county wins Arizona. 2/3rds of Arizonas residents live in Maricopa county. Tuscon is not in Maricopa county. Consider this: Sheriff Joe Arpio, as radical and unhinged as he is, will probably be re-elected as Sheriff of Maricopa county.

                                                  Here comes the truth!
Obama and McCain are true Americans!!!!!!!!!
                                                  Here comes another truth!
Obama and McCain truly believe they have the best vision for America!
                                                  Here is one last truth!
We will not know which one truly does have America's best choice until 4 to 8 years after the election since it will be then that we can see the results!
I am voting for McCain/Palin because I believe that they have the vision I can support!
I am not voting for Obama because of his vision for America.
We need to stop all of this crap going around today and during the next two weeks.
Bringing up someone's resume which includes their goals, education, previous jobs they have held and organizations that they belonged to and looking into their references would be a part of any hiring process and these and only these areas should be considered when hiring a president!
Looking at these each person should alot their vote according to which of these areas they feel should have the most weight.
If it is illegal to consider a person for a job based upon other issues then we should not use that same tool here.
                                                  Equal opportunity voting only allowed!

Then we should definitely take into consideration Sarah Palin's support for the Alaskan Independence Party.  She spoke from the Governors office to offer her support and golly gee good wishes and God's blessings dontcha know.

                                                    Go ahead!

Then we can bring in 20 years at the racist church with Rev. Wright.

The 10 years with a domestic terrorist, including ariting a blurb for Ayers' book.

We can bring in ACORN and voter registration fraud which is where voter fraud begins.

Go ahead and bring up those singular meetings she spoke to or went to.

We can bring up years of connections to people who hate because of race and people who state they are partially anarchist openly.

                                                    Have Obama deny these facts!

Both groups are equally racist and voting for anyone because of race is beyond stupidity!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                                                      He went to church...

He served on a committee with many Republicans.  All appointed by a Republican.

He did not use the Governors office to support a group that has no use for Americans...as stated on their website.

Regarding ACORN...that is so ridiculous. We all know it and thats all that needs to be said.

Have you heard what is happening to voters today in VA...they vote for the Democratic ticket and the machines register their vote for Republicans.

As regards Obama's associations with Ayers it has been established that his dealings with him were for charitable causes and for education.  McCain can't make the same claim in his association with Keating, unless you think cheating little old ladies out of their life savings is some sort of charity.

Regarding his association with his pastor, most of us white people do not understand what goes on inside a black church.  Never have and never will.   Look back at Martin Luther King.  He was villified as a communist by white America when he was alive.  But now that he is six foot under, we regard him as a great man.  I do not worry about Mr. Wright.  He is entitled to his opinion.  That is what makes America great.  We are all allowed to voice our opinion, right or wrong.  If you don't believe it, keep reading these blogs.

Actually des Obama's dealings with Ayers goes much deeper than that. Obama and Ayres met through Rezko (born in Syria by the way) shortly after Obama returned from his trip around the world he took with his roommates (both Pakistani citizens here on Visas) after failing out of Occidental College in California due to excessive drug use. Obama knew Ayers for years before they both moved from New York, where they lived three blocks from each other, to Chicago. Did you know they moved to Chicago within weeks of each other? Have you ever read any of Ayers books? He uses a lot of nautical terminology when he writes. Must be from his time as a merchant marine. Have you read either of Obama's books? He also uses a lot of nautical terms and imagery when he writes. I wonder where he picked that up from? Obama has never spent any time sailing or anything soooooo....?

Ooooooh Syrians and Pakistanis.....scary!  You better place a call to retired General John Abizaid, CENTCOM commander until 2007.  He may know what to do about someone who has friends and business associates from muslim countries, since he's Lebanese-American, raised mainly by his arab father and speaks Arabic.  He also studied at Harvard and the University of Jordan, not unlike a boy who studied in Indonesia and later went to Harvard.  Maybe he'll know what to do about this dangerous threat named Obama.

Cheney wouldn't be a good choice, he's never studied it. If she's going to be "briefed" she should find a better tutor. On the other hand Alaska could leave the Union, then she could be President of a foreign country, that would be waaayy more important than presiding over the other 49. Besides as wealthy as Russia has become, they may buy Alaska back. Sorry to demean the citizens of Alaska, but if Palin is the best they have to offer, they really need to raise their standards for Governor.

Keep the money, but have you campaign workers also promote the other democratic candidates of their states.

“He did everything that we asked of him, including arming the KLA”, said Albanian lobbyist Joe DioGuardi. The Albanians collected one million dollars for the presidential campaign of this senator.

Americans of Albanian heritage collected a million dollars in one evening for the presidential campaign of Republican Senator John McCain, said the Albanian American Civic League yesterday, the lobby group headed by former Congressman Joe DioGuardi. A reception for McCain was held January 22 at the Saint Regis Hotel in Manhatten, and the senator, who is now leading in the runoff for the Republican party candidacy in the November elections, cut his campaign in Florida by one day to attend this gathering.

“Even in 1998 when we had problems with Milosevic, McCain did everything that we asked of him to the benefit of the Albanian people, including arming the KLA”, announced DioGuardi. “We are American Albanians and we need a leader who will strengthen this country… We must support John McCain because he did everything we asked of him for Kosovo, from supporting the Kosovo Liberation Army to supporting the independence of Kosovo. Two years ago he spoke in Brussels and said that independence is the only solution”, concluded this former congressman who has been fighting for the independence of Kosovo and Metohija for more than twenty years.

McCain's terrorism problem dates back to the early 1990s, when he sided with right-wing domestic terrorists and voted against tough new legislation cracking down on a wave of anti-choice domestic terrorism targeting women who visited abortion clinics, their doctors, and clinic staff.

In both 1993 and 1994, McCain voted against the anti-terrorism measure. On each occasion, McCain was one of thirty radical anti-choice Senators to oppose the bill Fortunately, despite McCain's opposition, it passed the Senate by a 69-30 margin.

At the time, right-wing anti-choice extremists were terrorizing women, doctors, and clinic staff across the United States with thousands of acts of physical violence and threats of violence each year.

Those groups had links to the militia movement.

At the time, right-wing anti-choice extremists were terrorizing women, doctors, and clinic staff across the United States with thousands of acts of physical violence and threats of violence each year. The new legislation was necessary because in early 1993, the Supreme Court had ruled that even though the terrorism crossed state lines, the federal government could not protect clinics without a specific grant of statutory authority.

After Dr. David Gunn was murdered by anti-choice terrorist outside the Pensacola Women's Medical Services clinic, Congress finally passed the much-needed legislation giving authorities the tool they needed to protect women, doctors, and clinic staff from the ongoing threat of terrorism.

This will take time.  We will get through it as long as we don't make mistakes.

The core reasons of the Great Depression of the 1930' were two big mistakes.  The congress and the president - all of the same party - decided to get even with the rich folks who, they thought, caused the crash of 1929. They increased taxes for the top and they developed protectionist tariffs to protect jobs.  This created retaliation tariffs from other nations.  The high tax and the loss of business dropped our money supply 30% in two years.  Who does this sound like?

I don't care about any of the small stuff that people of both parties are yammering about.  We can get out of this contraction or drive into a long-term spiral.  Just for the moment stop trying to blame and use you head.

Obama's plan is faulty and dangerous. McCain may not be be a better person or president.  But, he is not trying to squeeze or contract our economy.  Obama is.  I am not ready to give up my nation's sovereignty quite yet.  Nothing can be fixed using debt. Taxes can't grow when we have a contract economy. They can only create joblessness.

And, it is very important that you remember mistakes get bigger, faster when you have a one-party government.  Clinton's first 2 years and his tax increase that failed.  Bush's first term and his war.  There is no such thing as gridlock. Our government has been inactive for 45 years, it is fat and lazy.

Think -if only for the first time in your life - before you vote.  Don't vote for who is the cool one or the smooth one.  Vote for policy , good fiscal policy.  If you get this guy in and he breaks us, it is on you.

He wants to buy up mortgages (sounds at least as socialist as any of his opponent's ideas). With what money? Because he wants to cut taxes, too.

The man has not offered a consistent and understandable approach. Even if you don't agree with his approach, Sen. Obama has been consistent and has apparently offered an approach that you can understand enough of in order to disagree with it.

I am just looking for the door that will hurt least to go through.

Housing bubble followed by burst . Deregulation. While I am on this topic if anybody thinks these leaks developed in the past two years you are wrong. We have is a two-party stranglehold on our governmenr. teresa asked above if the GOP is so cool why haven't they fixed social security?"  Easy, the problem was way too big for all of them.  Medicare and social security have unfunded laibilities that are huge.  Both parties have danced around the issues.  Reagan beat inflation and communism and clinton had good second term, He got his surplus after the 1997 tax cut. And, he relieved US corporation by NAFTA.  We had lost our domestic market and couldn't compete overseas.  These guys have never had a long-term startegic plan that governs solutions.  They were controlled by events.  Obama will get controlled by events also.
If is become a contest between a socially right wing VP and a bad econmic policy during these times, I cannot fathom why you worry about the bubblehead,  McCain is healthy and will survice according to any modern longevity table.  Palin cannot influence the courts to change a thing. And, we won't have a contstitutional amendment passed by the states.  So why the hell are we arguing about Palin in the first place?
The most relevent thing in our lives is the economy - right now.  The truth is that we cannot have tax increases or protectionism during this contraction. What Palin may be in four years means nothing. What Obama may do in one year means everything.
The only beneficial possibility is that the democratic congress saw what happened to them when Clinton rose taxes in 1993.  They must know the Obama tax plan includes one of the biggest tax increases to the middle class in 50 years - if you calculate the 1999 Clinton tax tables, a new capital gains tax and payroll tax increases.
Personally, sir, I'll take the bubblehead.

It is always written after the fact and requires huge bureacratic cost.  The real problem by both parties was a lack of oversight.  When you deregulate, you reduce consumer cost.  But, if it is not replaced by good oversight, there is a vacuum.  if you have/had kids, there is an example.  When you leave the kids alone with a lot of rules that may or may not fit the events of the evening, that is regulation.  When you hire a babysitter, that is oversight.
The other partisan end run is that this happened during Bush's term and by Bush's actions.  Bush certainly allowed his regulators to go to sleep.  But, this mess could not have grown if some democrats did not spearheaded a law that allowed Freddie and Fannie to exceed its cap and backstop all the banks by taking trillions of bad mortgages off their hands.  And, the law sponsored by Frank that allow zero down payments also allowed speculators into the fray.  These were the big numbers.  There were many mistakes by both parties and most states over 22 years that allowed this.  Nothing much can get this kind of momentum in 6 years.  Terasa, you are bright.  But, the complexity of this thing defies the simplistic politican and their causation . They are hiding from the fact that this thing got out of hand because they all fell asleep for two decades.
The truth is that the two-party system does not work.

And, to think that Sarah Palin is a good candidate, how outrageous is that!!!  She doesn't even know the Constitution.  She should not be allowed to talk by herself.  And, for people to say that she is exceptional because she is taking this on with a child with special needs.  I think that makes her a horrible mom.  Her time should be spent with that baby now and for at least the next four years.  I have a child with a disability and they take a lot of work is you want them to be able to survive in the world.  She should be spending all of her time with him, working with him.  Children with Downs are very capable of learning and being mainstreamed into classrooms.  If unfortunately, she should get to the white house, she will no longer have the required amount of time to spend with that baby.  That is a real travesty!!!

Don’t trust the socialist media polls or ACORN polls, they poll only “undecided voters” which are basically just socialist democrats with no backbones.

But you have managed to make my uncle look like a choir boy by comparison.
