Serenaded by their world famous marching band, almost a thousand students, faculty and administrators marched off the campus of Florida A&M University on Monday. It was not a protest march — at the head of the line was the university’s president, James Ammons.
Forty-five minutes later, they decamped on the lawn of the Leon County Courthouse in Tallahassee. And they voted.
“I feel today is a very important day in history,” said Robert Jones of Orlando, a student at the historically black college. “Hope to elect the first black president of the United States.”
Election Day isn’t until next month, but these Rattlers of FAMU have already cast their ballots in the presidential election. That’s because Florida opens it polling places and allows registered voters to do their civic duty well before Election Day.
Shortly after the FAMU contingent showed up, a second wave of student voters from Florida State University arrived en masse at the courthouse, a turnout that Ion Sancho, Leon County’s supervisor of elections, said was emblematic of overwhelming enthusiasm for early voting this year.
“Early voting is really going to set all-time records here in Leon County,” Sancho said. “I would probably say across the state, they’re going to set records, as well.”
In fact, election experts predict that up to 40 percent of the electorate will vote early in Florida, one of 31 states that let registered voters show up early and vote without restriction. Three other states and the District of Columbia allow voters to cast their ballots in person ahead of time if they have an approved excuse for not being able to make it on Election Day.
Millions of votes in the bank
Thanks to aggressive voter registration efforts by both parties and fueled by younger voters’ enthusiasm for Sen.
Barack Obama, D-Ill., election experts predict that a third of the electorate will already have voted by Nov. 4, up from 15 percent in 2000 and 20 percent in 2004.
The relatively recent phenomenon of early voting — often categorized as “in-person absentee voting,” as opposed to mail-in absentee balloting — presents both opportunities and challenges for candidates and voters. And it means the familiar problems of faulty machines and frustrated voters are played out over weeks instead of hours.
By getting voters to the polls early, the campaigns of Obama and Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., can bank millions of votes and focus their energies on other segments of the electorate.
Obama, in particular, has made early voting a cornerstone of his strategy, holding giant “Early Vote for Change” rallies urging Democrats to show up in advance. He has also blanketed Democrats and pastors in minority communities with “vote early” e-mail messages and placed ads in the backgrounds of more than a dozen popular video games.
McCain, by contrast, is relying on his firm supporters to make it to the polls on Nov. 4, Rich Beeson, political director for the Republican National Committee, told The Associated Press. Republicans are focusing their early voting efforts on first-time and swing voters, who might be discouraged by long lines on Election Day.
Partly as a result, election officials report a disproportionally high turnout among registered Democrats in early voting so far, especially in urban centers like Atlanta, Las Vegas and Houston.
Through Monday in Las Vegas, for example, early ballots were cast by 31,875 registered Democrats and 13,371 registered Republicans, the Clark County registrar said, while in Ohio, Democratic voters outnumbered Republicans by 2-to-1 on Monday. Democratic advantages were also reported in Iowa, Nevada, North Carolina and New Mexico.
How those voters actually voted will not be known until Election Day, but Alan Abramowitz, a political science professor at Emory University in Atlanta, said such numbers revealed an “enthusiasm gap,” with “Obama voters more enthusiastic than a lot of McCain supporters.”
But Abramowitz and other experts cautioned against reading too much into those numbers, because an early vote is still just one vote — the same as one cast on Election Day. They noted that Republicans were more likely to vote through the traditional absentee ballot, potentially evening out the imbalance.
In Florida, for example, the secretary of state’s office reported that Democratic voters outnumbered Republican voters by 2-to-1 on Monday, the first day of early voting. At the same time, it noted that Republicans held a 17 percentage point lead in traditional absentee ballot requests.
“The more important question is whether (early Democratic voting) will translate into higher turnout” than usual among Democrats overall, Abramowitz said.
‘Such a historic election’
Early voting was adopted in many states after the disputed 2000 election, and this year it has put down deep roots. Across the country, election officials report record-shattering early turnout.
“There is so much passion coming from both sides. This is such a historic election in so many different ways,” said Lynn Bailey, director of the Board of Elections in Richmond County, Ga.
Nearly 700,000 Georgians and 500,000 North Carolinians had already voted by Wednesday, with nearly two weeks to go, while Bruce Sherbet, elections administrator in Dallas County, Texas, predicted that early voting numbers from 2008 would swamp those of 2004.
“If it sustains and continues through the 12-day period like this, there’s not going to be anything close to compare it to,” he said.
Meanwhile, in Houston and the rest of Harris County, Texas, the turnout on Monday, the first day of early voting, was 83 percent higher that it was on the same day four years ago.
“There are many factors — from the first woman potential vice president to an African-American running for president,” Harris County Clerk Beverly B. Kaufman said. “No one will ever say that 2008 in Houston was ho hum.”
But while welcoming the show of civic interest, some election experts cautioned that early voting has potential downsides.
The problem for the candidates is that banking millions of votes in advance means those votes are locked in and cannot be swayed. That puts pressure on the campaigns to burn through their cash weeks ahead of the election, before too many votes are set in stone.
“You can’t hold your big guns right to the end,” said Paul Gronke, director of the Early Voting Information Center at Reed College in Portland, Ore. “When up to 25 or 30 percent of the electorate has already cast a ballot, it might not be wise to wait until the last minute” to try a game-changing play.
Voting early also means a voter is stuck with his or her decision, no matter what happens in the final days of the campaign.
“Once you cast that vote, there’s still two weeks or a month to go, and what happens if something eventful happens with a campaign or a candidate during that period and you change your mind?” said Craig Wilson, a political science professor at the University of Montana.
Still a few bugs in the system
Early balloting also means more opportunities for something to go wrong. In many states, long lines have led to long waits — two hours in parts of Florida, 90 minutes in Houston and Chicago and an hour in Charlotte, N.C.
And familiar problems of the past keep springing up:
Meek, who said excessive waits could disenfranchise voters, compared Monday — the first day of early voting — to a churning hurricane. “Let’s consider this a Category 1 today,” he said. “By November 4, it will be a Category 5, if not 6.”
“Here we are, the first day, again not being prepared,” said Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas.
Election officials in all of the troubled jurisdictions chalked up the difficulties to first-day glitches. They promised that the problems would quickly be fixed and urged voters not to be discouraged.
West Virginia Secretary of State Betty Ireland said the state’s touch screens were overly sensitive and needed to be recalibrated from time to time. She said voters concerned about their machines should ask poll workers to move them to another machine.
Lester Sola, elections supervisor in Miami-Dade County, Fla., said officials “recognize that there is a concern, and we will be looking to address those concerns either with more personnel, more goodwill ambassadors and offering our voters the opportunity to cast an absentee ballot.”
No matter who you're voting for or how you're voting (election day, absentee, early), it's up to you to know and protect your voting rights. Find more information here....
That being said....
Obama '08!
And... make an informed vote, not a vote based on fear, hate, rhetoric, or someone else's opinions. That being said...
Obama/Biden 2008 - For Change!
ya, and while you are at it, don't vote someone into office cause they are black, muslim, fish-flopping wanna-be joke celebraty....vote for someone who KNOWS how congress actually works, and works for you , not to be famous!
McCain/Palin '08 and beyond!
Early voting is BS! all it does is suck in the i dunno crowd on election day, those that are like another candidate....who can't make up his mind.
I believe eary voting should be out lawed in all states, and more restriction put on absentee voting. A person in our park told us he filled out his ballot that morning, it could be that any one filled out his ballot. There is going to be more voter fraud in this election than ther has ever been since we became a nation.
Uh...Lee....
I'm sure you're not quite informed on this matter. Early voying has been in place in Florida for over 10 years!! Yep....Go figure!
And since I've been working the polls here in Florida..I can tell you.....early voting is THE way to go.
Why you ask??....Think about it!. This will be one of the largest turnouts in history for a general election. WHY..do you think it would be such a great idea for everyone in this country to wait until that day to vote? Presently..our early voting lines in St. Petersburg, Florida are 15 to 20 minutes. Now on election day...I bet in some areas...the wait will be HOURS. That's why we suggest early voting. Hopefully so EVERYONE will have the opportunity to vote in this VERY important election.
Tell me....can you think of a bright retort now????
Kezzerdrix,
Canada looks pretty good right about now.
But then again, I dont think you're gonna make it that far.
Have you picked out a plot yet?
Maybe you should, it's not so expensive.
Cause you'll probably kick the bucket, with a massive
coronary, WHEN Obama becomes YOUR President.
these exact things could be said about Palin... I was ready to vote for McCain until Palin appeared and opened her mouth... There's a one scary bimbo...
If I really wanted to vote I will stand in line for an hour. Campus voting is a fad, 50% of them are just playing follow the leader. Florida has had more voter fraud in recent years than any other state in the union. When are they going to straighten up and fly right?
I like how democrats say people who vote for McCain are Racist. Are people that vote for Obama against Women or older people? The fact of the matter is that we have the first african american in history running for office. You think if Obama was white he would be doing so well i think not, and if you believe he would be then you are living with horse blinders on. I don't care what color he is (by the way he is half white/half black). His policies are flawed, his association are questionable and he has no experience.
McCain Palin 08
A Vice President should be ready to to be President from the day they are sworn in. Palin is not and never will be and McCain has all the thinking ability of a hotheaded spoiled teenager. He's pathetic.
Do you think people are voting early because they realize
that the last two presidential elections were manipulated
which caused the installation of a spoiled imbecile as the
leader of the free world? How has that gone? Thank God
we won't let them get away with it again. And they have
the audacity to call us unpatriotic.... Palin's husband wanted
Alaska to seceed from the United States. Can't get more
unpatriotic than that.
0
I think that is exactly a big part of the reason people are voting early. Avoid long lines and make sure your vote gets in. I am SO glad we have early voting.
early voting will help Obama by making it easier on:
people working 2 jobs who need a tax break
students balancing classes and a job who think the country is going in the wrong direction and want to change it
people who live in run down parts of towns where the jobs have been outsourced, and the number of polling places have been cut, and bus service reduced
young people in general, who seem to have a hard time finding time to vote
these groups will all heavily favor Obama and will vote in higher numbers because of early voting
If you make Election day a national holiday, close down businesses, open more polling places with longer hours. You wouldn't need early voting except for absentee ballots.
Lee -- in response to your second comment re: college students... are you saying that they cannot think for themselves?
Respectfully, I have to say that you are seriously underestimating the college students of today. They probably have one of the biggest stakes in this election -- and therefore are voting the way they feel will give them the biggest chance at a brighter future.
I first got involved in politics during a presidential campaign when I was in College. Just because I was young, didn't mean I couldn't think for myself and it doesn't mean that these college students cannot think for themselves now. On the contrary, I commend them for taking a stand. All too often, we see complacency from our youth.
I don't agree with your views, but I'm not going to say you don't have a brain (which is essentially what you said about them) because you are not voting along the same lines as I am.
Elephant.
Don't you know?
Elections are not won on issues or policies or experience, or even on the fact of who is the better candidate.
For the longest time Americans have just voted for the guy who is more
COOL.
Americans are image obsessed people.
The person who is more stylish, young, charming, personable, attractive, likable,
and who is just basically, a COOL DUDE, always gets, The Job, The Girl, , The Vote
and THE Presidency.
NOT a lot of people care if he can really do this SH!T!
That's how GWB beat Al Gore, because Gore showed himself to be a Boring guy, just
droning on and on about this and that numbers. ZZZZ.
Women dont buy the vaccum cleaner because they really need it, but because they have a secret crush on the salesman.
That's why that wrinkly old man isn't going to make it.
But anyway, Obama isnt just a pretty face, he is the only one who can bring some kind
of respectability to America around the world.
Instead of that crazy old man McCrap.
So, let's all go out there and vote for the COOL BLACK DUDE.
i don't think p diddy is on the ticket is he?
Maybe, just maybe, people who are voting for Obama aren't concerned about image... Maybe they agree with his views and ideas for policy change. Maybe, just maybe, all this talk about race, image, celebrity, etc. is to distract us away from what McCain's plans are for our country.
What exactly ARE McCain's plans for our country? Because all I hear him talk about is Obama.
I really find it interesting that instead of debating the ISSUES, those not supporting Obama feel the need to bash him rather than explain why their candidate is better suited for the job.
I have yet to see one post from a McCain/Palin supporter that is posting positive messages in terms of what their candidate CAN do rather than posts with what is wrong or smear tactics/lies toward the other candidate.
Maybe if McCain and his supporters focused a little more on McCain and what his vision is for America a little less on Obama, more people might listen. I know it won't happen, but it's just a thought.
For the record, not every Democrat thinks that everyone who votes for McCain is a racist, but the guy who said of Obama:
"musta been sellin crack for mamma at night if she had him up early, if not so darn stupid he didn't take care of all that after school, before he got out to play."
He's probably a racist. Call me crazy.
#1.11 - "A Vice President should be ready to to be President from the day they are sworn in. Palin is not and never will be and McCain has all the thinking ability of a hotheaded spoiled teenager. He's pathetic."
And shouldn't the President be ready to go the day they are sworn in? So how does your candidate stack up there? No experience, no sense of national security, no respect for military or their commanders.
And you don't think Joe Biden is a hot head? I hope he keeps talking ... he's only hurting Obama.
you are not crazy, this is the type of voter that the republican party has always counted on to do as was directed. until the voters learn to inform themselves and use this great tool of education (internet) for learning and stop using it to give voice to their racist views we the old guard to always be able to fool them into thinking we work for them,. I only say that I am a part of the old guard because of my familys connection to them, once my grandson showed me how to use the internet I have learned that people are so easy to be lead where you want them to follow, just play to their fears.this is way I still do not understand in the world today that race is was easiler played. this election is the about race its about the state of the union and who is best to lead it. where I understand most of the older whites and their need to control I can not understand the young voters who support McCain and Palin. Think about your jobs, the education of your children, think about owing a home and think about the fact that if you do pay taxes the only ones who will pay more are the people lilke me who have more than enough and have had enough of the lies and false images the gop puts out. lets unite and save our country because the world is leaving us behind and although we can stand alone ask yourself should we? Obama/Biden 2008 and beyond.
old enough
I don't think tools like the internet are the issue. I have friends who are die hard Repubs and they only go to FoxNews for their info. It's their homepage. The funny thing about todays Repubs is that it's all based on nostalgia. It's no longer the party of Ike or even Regan. My aforementioned friends (the FoxNews readers), they're die-hard Catholics. Now, the Church opposes the war in Iraq and the death penalty. Yet they're still Repubs. Why, you may ask? Abortion and gay marriage. From the horse's mouth, I assure you. And they're both college educated.
I'm not voting for Obama because of his policies. He wants to socialize healthcare. He wanted to take from the $250,000 plus and spread it around. I believe that if you work hard enough to have a company that makes the money you should be able to keep it and not have to give it to those who don't work and have no will to work. His policies will only create more job loss and a poor healhcare system. The making of socialized medical care will allow business to cut that cost because the government has a plan for everyone, it will take away my ability to choose my deductible, my coinsurance amount and so on. Doctors will be less like to take on new patients because of the no preexisting condition clause Mr. Obama wants to add. Also Taxing those people that give the middle class the jobs we have is only going to cause more peolple to be out of work. They will have to cut cost someplace. I know the democrats don't see it this way because of the Obamatizing they have had but look at the polls America is waking up.
elephantears
That all sounds great until you realize that Obama has never stated a plan to nationalize healthcare. He merely wants to force more employers to provide it to their workers.
Here some interesting facts for your study. Excuse the length. But, truth is something we all must handle.
"The mainstream press refuses to delve intoObama's radicalism, his revolutionary collaboration with self-identified communists from Frank Marshall Davis to Bill Ayers. The McCain campaign, moreover, has contributed mightily to the whitewash by ineptly seizing on the issue's least important aspect: Obama's abject dishonesty about the depth of his relationships with committed Leftists — e.g., the portrayal of Ayers as just "a guy who lives in my neighborhood."
(Petrified of being smeared as a racist, McCain has never mentioned Davis, whom Obama identifies only as "Frank" in his memoir. Andutterance of Jeremiah Wright's name is verboten in McCain circles, notwithstanding that his Trinity Church, where Obama was a 20-year member, is a font of Marxist Black Liberation Theology and critical to our understanding of Obama's invocations of "change" and "spreading the wealth.")
With what little media oxygen there has been sucked out by the largely uninformative discussion of Ayers (and his wife and Weather Underground ally, Bernadine Dohrn)— in which the mantra "unrepentant terrorist" has been a pale substitute for the critical matter of the Ayers's ideology that Obama plainly shares — much has been missed. Significantly, that includes another key Obama contact, Mike Klonsky.
Here's what you need to know. Klonsky is an unabashed communist whose current mission is to spread Marxist ideology in the American classroom. Obama funded him to the tune of nearly $2 million. Obama, moreover, gave Klonsky a broad platform to broadcast his ideas: a "social justice" blog on the official Obama campaign website.
To be clear, as it seems always necessary to repeat when Obamaniacs, in their best Saul Alinsky tradition, shout down the opposition: This is not about guilt by association. The issue is not that Obama knows Klonsky … or Ayers … or Dohrn … or Wright … or Rashid Khalidi …
The issue is that Obama promoted and collaborated with these anti-American radicals. The issue is that he shared their ideology.
Klonsky's communist pedigree could not be clearer. His father, Robert Klonsky, was an American communist who was convicted in the mid-Fifties for advocating the forcible overthrow of the United States government — a violation of the Smith Act, anti-communist legislation ultimately gutted by the Supreme Court. In the Sixties, Klonsky the younger teamed with Ayers, Dohrn, and other young radicals to form the Students for a Democratic Society. It was out of the SDS that Ayers and Dohrn helped found the Weatherman terrorist group.
Klonsky took a different path, albeit one that led inexorably to a new partnership with Ayers, which Obama mightily helped underwrite. Upon splitting off from the SDS, Klonsky formed a Maoist organization, first known as the "October League," which ultimately became the "Communist Party (Marxist Leninist)."
Klonsky was CP(ML)'s chairman. He was so highly thought of by Mao's regime that he was among the first Americans invited to visit Communist China. When he was feted there in 1977, a year after Mao's death, the communist leadership hailed Klonsky's party as "reflecting the aspirations of the proletariat and working people."
Klonsky was a regular guest of the Chicoms until 1981, when the relationship soured over the post-Mao leadership's free-market reforms.(Yes, Klonsky is apparently more committed to communism than China's own Communist Party.) So what was a Leftist radical without platform to do? Why, what else? He became an American college professor specializing in education.
After getting his doctorate, Klonsky eventually made his way to Chicago and hooked up with his old SDS comrade (and self-professed "small 'c' communist") Bill Ayers. Together, they co-founded the Small Schools Workshop in 1991. The goal — as Ayers has repeatedly made clear, most prominently in a 2006 speech before Hugo Chavez at an education forum in Caracas — is to bring the same Leftist revolution that has always galvanized them into the classroom.
The concept may be called small schools, but Klonsky and Ayers uniquely grasp the force-multiplier effect. In a small class, the teacher preaching the "social justice" gospel that American capitalism is a racist, materialist, imperialist cauldron of injustice can have greater impact on the students he seeks to mold into his conception of the "good citizen" — and on the teachers he is teaching to be preachers. Writing trenchantly about how this system of "critical pedagogy" short-changes the basic education needs of disadvantaged children, the City Journal's Sol Stern observes that theorists like
Furthermore, as education remains one of Obama's core areas of concern — a fact that should frighten you — he gave Klonsky a microphone during the campaign. On the Obama campaign's official website, Klonsky ran a blog for the candidate, as Klonsky put it, on "education politics and teaching for social justice." He ran it, that is, until blogger Steve Diamond called attention to it back in June. A that point, the campaign scrubbed the site of all Klonsky traces — a fitting Stalinesque purge, described by Diamond here (and reminiscent of similar efforts to erase the campaign's false claims about Obama's relationship with ACORN)"
funny... I still don't see one statement about what makes McCain the better candidate, rather only half-truths about Obama. It sounds like a bunch of "talking points" from McCain's rallies and Fox news bashing Obama.
first, Socialized medicine already exists in our country, btw... Have you heard of Medicaid? Obama's plan is not to "socialize" our medical system. He has stated several times what exactly the plan entails. If you have insurance, you keep it. If you don't, you can get in on the same plan that he and McCain has through the government now.
Second, "spreading the wealth" means that the Middle class actually get a tax cut where those who make more than 250K per year will have the bush tax cuts rolled back. McCain opposed the Bush tax cuts ... does that mean he's a socialist too?
Taxes - ALL taxes - are a way of "spreading the wealth". My wealth is spread around.
Small businesses will get other tax cuts (which he also explained to "joe the plumber" - but funny how that soundbite gets edited out and only the one line "spreading the wealth" is used. Maybe you don't believe in paying taxes at all... like "joe the plumber" (doesn't he owe back taxes now?)
OK, going back to the comment that asked if all Democrats are against women and old people- I'm a Democrat and I'm certainly not against women but I must admit I've got something against old people. They smell funny, are quite often grumpy and will vote for McCain just because he is older then them. They can't use the internet and choose to simply believe the crap that the McCain camp is spewing. Of course, most of this post is a joke, but I did see a large group of old people on the news screaming out McCain when a reporter asked who they would vote for.
Get with it old people! Obama has promised to extend the hours of the "Early Bird Special" at resturants nationwide.
As republicans get more desperate, their posts get longer. Hey Larry, Nobody reads post that long except to see how far in they have to go to identify the poster as a republican. Line 2 on your post.
That all sounds great until you realize that Obama has never stated a plan to nationalize healthcare. He merely wants to force more employers to provide it to their workers.
I believe Mr. Obama would penelize companies that don't provide some sort of healthcare. Again hit to the employers that give jobs to the middle class. They will have to cut cost someplace to either A. pay for the forced insurance or B. pay the penalty.
That is right from Obama's website
The democrat party is the party of Racists. a recent article here on PMSNBC showed that 1/3 of white democrats would not Vote for Obama because he was Black. That same poll showed that Republicans would not vote for obama because of his Politics
http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D93AIV882&show_article=1
here is a copy of that poll.. Now who is the party of Racists...
To Kezzerdrix:
Please go to FOX. Here at MSNBC (and also at CNN), we care about issues, not fanaticism and prejudice.
PS Kezzerdrix:
Please take Steve-505729 with you to FOX.
People will actually listen to both of you there.
Actually if you are looking for any type of fair and balanced media you won't find it. Just because our views are not the same as yours doesn't mean we have to go to FOX. I suggest we combine the two sites and that would make it fair and balanced Far right with far left.
elephantears
The employers who, under Obama's plan, will be subject to the penalties are large companies ONLY. If they want help cutting costs, I'll give it to them.
Cost cutting measures:
1. Reduce executive salaries by 20%
2. Reduce number of bu**sh** junkets executives are allowed to attend.
3. Eliminate golden parachutes.
They won't cut jobs. If they could cut jobs and meet customer demand they would have done it already. It's called efficiency.
Another advantage of early voting is so the people who registered many times with ACORN can make it to all of the different precincts in time to vote multiple times.
The problems with ObamaCare health insurance plan.
A teacher colleague of mine, whose husband is a CPA, declares she and her husband are voting for McCain because Obama will make her husband provide health care for his several employees. And she says because of that he will have to lay off some of his office workers. I feel so sorry for her husband. If he helps insure his employees, he might have to take fewer vacations, and possible get rid of his second house in the mountains, and perhaps get a second mortgage on their $500,000 home, and maybe cut back on flying to California to see family every other month. I am tired of employers who work their employees to death and yet some how don't have enough money to insure them. His employees barely make over minimum wage, have no benefits and yet he like most greedy folks crys because he might have to insure them. It's about time someone looked at all these rich folks and how they get rich off other's backs.
Read something called "Block the Vote". The Repubs came out with all kinds of laws to make it harder for Democrats to vote. It worked for Bush in 2004 and they are hoping it will work for Mccain. These little nuisances nullify many votes in particular four states.

Is a vote for our best and brightest; for hope over despair and for light over darkness!
Everything indicates that Obama should win and by large numbers. I still fear the GOP's underhanded ways they will try to steal this election! I don't trust them at all! We each must do everything to make sure our vote is counted properly. I can't bear the tought of a McCain win! Everyone pray for Obama's grandmother to stay well enough to see him take the oath.
BTW for all you Chaos / Hate Train, Joe 6-Pack, pregnant high school daughter, expense account fraud, $150K make-over, Abuse of Power etc. supporters

If employers could just drop coverage and not lose employees they'd be doing it. Also, you're mistating the plan. The employers couldn't just "move the employees to the government plan." If an employer chose to do that, they would still be subject to the penalty. The choice is provide coverage or pay a penalty. Period. Now, if the employer chose to pay the penalty because it was cheaper than providing coverage, then the penalty is what would subsidize the insurance. That's the plan. Stop lying and stop quoting the CATO institute. You might as well be quoting the American Enterprise Institute about Obama's tax plan. It's like quoting the Republican party.
CHANGE? Cuba got "CHANGE" in 1959
careful what you ask for
So I see that you would riot in the streets if you loose? That's awesome, you know that is exactly what the Orange Democratic party of Kenya did after Odinga was not elected. Hummm maybe a connection there? Nah can't be Obama isn't associated with anyone. So go ahead dems play the "race card" play the "voter not getting counted card". If you loose it is because America didn't want obama, and if McCain losses it shows America didn't want him as well. Also your name calling is a bit childish don't you think?
Elephant,
To set the record straight, just because i make way, way less than $250,000 a year DOES NOT MEAN That I "don't work and have no will to work." thankyouverymuch.
I dont care what your political allignment is DON'T make gross assumptions about anyones work ethic based on their annual income. my spouse and i make a combined 40k a year and you know what? We work our ASSES OFF for every single penny we bring home.
have your oppinion on "Sharing the wealth" i dont care, the financialy wealthy can keep their money. But dont you dare tell me i have no will to work. I am welthy in the ways that count, health, happiness, and a home full of love and you know what? Everyhitng i own means that much more to me to know that I work and scrimp and save to have the things i want. and then i know that MY Will to work has paid off.
Dian Larkin
You bore me. Your rants dont work on me. you see i am a hard working republican that does'nt depend on the govt to Pay my way for me. Unlike you that thinks the Govt should provide for your Every Need.
and dian... take what i said about rhonda and apply it to yourself too
So if the company is A.) paying a penalty or B.) Made to provide health care isn't that an extra expense that they wouldn't otherwise have? Do you know the cost of health insurance? A company that I did the bills for had 7 employees that they paid the insurance coverage for and it cost them over $70000 a year and that is for 7 people. That was also for a plan that had a $2500 deducible and an HSA. Just imagine the cost on a bigger company. Sure the rates are less because of the amount of people but the cost is still enormous. So people would either A.) loose t jobs or B.) have to pay more for the products that these companies make, distribute, or whatever. It doesn't help the middle class.
I am still waiting to see one statement about McCain and what makes him the best choice to lead this country, rather than more lies, half-truths, and complete misstatements related to Obama.
Now, the lies being stated about Obama by elephant ears can be fact checked in about 5 seconds .... I doubt that you are making any impact by posting those lies here - I think we're all savvy enough to look at fact check sites which disprove the false claims you are making.
If you choose not to look at the facts, then there is nothing I can do for you... but posting that drivel here is not going to sway anyone.
I would hope that you are smart enough to know that my comment wasn't aimed at the middle class. I'm glad you and your wife are living the american dream. My family as well we make a combined $62000 a year, we have a home, 2 cars, 2 children and a house full of love as well. From day one me and my wife have done things the right way and it does make you appreciate it that much more. That's why we shouldn't tax the rich to pay the poor. There is no appreciation in that. Why should we take money from someone who has worked hard to get what they have? Should we take money from them just because we aren't as fortunate? If I owned my own company and worked hard to get it at a place where i could have a vacation home, a boat, or whatever i wanted, where is it the place of the government to take my money and give it to others??
VC22
I am waiting for the same from a democrat. As to why Obama is better, and we are not talking about just reciting his web page.
So every post you see from the democrats on this board has been bashing McCain? I disagree with you. Of course there are some, but there are also people who are defending Obama's policy positions and those who have very clearly stated why they are voting for Obama.... I don't see any type of positive messages about McCain and why he is the better candidate.
But I guess that's the beauty of our country.... we can disagree and we can all vote... I am choosing to vote FOR a candidate. And you can choose to vote AGAINST a candidate. It's all our choice.
elephantears
Of course companies who provide health coverage now spend a lot on it. And guess what? They're still in business. Your statement that people would either lose jobs or customers would pay more simply isn't true. If the employer could fire people and keep his business running he would. That's business. You don't keep on extra employees. And the employer couldn't raise costs to the consumer because it would make the business less competetive. Do you know what the employer would do? One of two things: 1. Make less money for himself or 2. go out of business.
Well, I can hear the Repubs screaming as I write this. "EXACTLY! The business would go under!" WRONG!! The employer would take a smaller chunk is all. Your employer, elephantears, who paid $70k in premiums, I'm guessing he/she had an income in the six figure range. Probably well into the six fugure range. Well, under Obama, your boss wil have to get by on less I'm affraid. You'll excuse me and the rest of the folks who make under $100k if we don't weep for your boss.
Obama '08
VC22 - so because i am voting for McCain, what you are saying is i am voting against Obama and not for McCain. I am voting for McCain. I think he has the ability to lead this country and the experience as well. I agree with the positions he has and that is why i am voting for him. See you agree with Obama, I agree with McCain that is why we have different views. That is what America is about. By the way state your reason for deciding to vote for OBAMA.
eris you are right
even rabid republican arnold schwartzenneger said (ABC this morning) that Palin is not ready -- he said she "will be qualified ... will get qualified"
that's nice - altho I personally doubt she is capable of 'getting qualified' the gap of knowleldge and ethics and experience is too vast for h er
but wasn't it McCain who said this job does not allow for on the job training?
he thought it was a catchy sound bite (like "I'm not Bush") but, under the circumstances not surprisingly, it all comes back to bite him
luck... in a weird and sad way..... that the McCain slurs and sound bites are so transparently applicable 10xs over to themsleves isn't it?
Vote for Hope
OBAMA / BIDEN '08
Dian, Actually McCain said the office of POTUS does not allow for on the job training. I think among other things the VP position helps train to be POTUS.
I agree with something new please, poor employers, can't take those vacations to Aruba because they have to take care of their employees by helping them get health care. Poor things, they don't mind working their employees half to death and taking advantage of them, but heaven help them if they have to give some benefits!! And they might have to live in a $400,000 house instead of half a million one. I feel so sorry for them. Employers have been Scrooges long enough. Why does everyone think it's okay for doctors to charge you $175 for a office visit of 5 minutes after making you wait three hours? How did we get to this point? And why do we pay so much to insurance companies and never get the money back if we don't use it. I paid for my child's insurance for 21 years and he never met a deductable, why didn't I get that money back? They have just brainwashed us so long, we think it is normal acceptable practice to be ripped off. I personally think I would be better off just going on welfare and medicaid or disability.
Here, here Dian. What really distressed me in watching the taped interview with McPalin was their seriously contentious attitude towards Gen. Colin Powell. C;mon. I dont much care if Kissinger supports McPalin (he was a Nixon man), or Jim Baker... I think that Powell is one of the most loyal, sincere and generally nice men out there in military land and a man of honor. I understand that McPalin had to downgrade the importance of his Obama endorsement, but they came real close to blowing him off like someone who is completely unimportant.. I feel very good that Obama will consult with him at any time he needs to and that Powell will give such good counsel. Kissinger advised Nixon on Viet Nam... I say no more
Is it Nov 5 YET?????? lol
So let me get this right you are saying is my uncle who took over a family business and did things in that business to help it grow. He should not be allowed to reap the fruits of his labor for 30+ years. Why does it not surprise me that you fail to see things. With your comment you just sound jealous of the fact that he makes a decent living. It's not like it was handed to him he had to work hard to get it where it is. So do you think that everyone that makes more than you should take less pay? So you can be equals?
,
Clearly you are someone who can construct an Intelegent and sound argument. But if you want your oppinions to be taken seriously, then choose your words wisely. You made a very general statement that (the way you phrased it) did come across to include anyone who made a decent middle-class living.
I'm what i guess you could call a "gun-toting Liberal" my stances on all the issues straddle the party lines pretty evenly. I wont even get into that all here, but the thing that scares me most about this election is people using scare tactics and name calling to prove their point rather then truth and logic.
i agree SANSSERIF,
Some people on this site are just here to name call like children. DIAN
Elephant Ears: How refreshing... you FINALLY posted something about McCain. Thank you. My assumption that you were voting against Obama was based upon your posts. Apologies if that was incorrect, but you should be aware that this is how you are being perceived.
I am more than happy to let you know why I am voting for Obama - although I don't think I need to, nor do I think you will care.... Personally, I think you are looking for a reason to nit pick and attack my positions. And again, I am basing this on what I have read in your other posts... so it's a perception.
I choose to vote for Obama because his core policies and beliefs are in line with mine. I am sad to see the standing of the US in the world -- such a loss of respect from other countries... I am sad to see that the US falls far below other countries in terms of education (being the richest country, this should not be). I am sad to see the division among our own citizens (as evidenced by the posts on this very message board). I think Obama can help to mend some of these deficiencies and that I why I am voting for him.
I believe that we are wasting our resources in Iraq (a country that should never have been brought to war in this fashion). I want to end the war in Iraq and re-focus our efforts on fighting the war against terror and finding Bin Laden. I think that Iraq has distracted from that I believe that Obama will restore our standing of being respected as a world leader. I believe that people should have the right to healthcare. I like that Obama puts the responsibility not only on the government to fund education programs, but also on the people and parents to turn off the TV and encourage learning from our children. I like the idea that if you give back to the community then the government will help you get an education. I want energy independence and believe that Obama's plan is well-rounded. These are among the reasons I am voting for Obama.
I'm sure you could nit pick, question and disagree with me on every point, and that's fine (I am also letting you know now that I don't have time to debate every facet of Obama's positions) -- but you aren't going to sway my opinion and I am not going to sway yours.
Have a nice day.
and the truth is this rampent on BOTH sides of the election. (if youre for Obama , youre a terrorist. If youre for Mccain, youre racist) its really disgusting. we sometimes forget in times like this that it really is Okay to disagree on things. and we don't have to resort to fear mongering, accusations, and hate speach. we can all agree to disagree on things like the economy and abortion wiht out resorting to comments like "obamas funny name makes him a terrorist", and "McCains Age makes him senile and out of touch".
And Elephantears, I think this is a historic Newsvine moment! someone voting for McCain and someone voting for Obama agreeing with each other! (on somethigns atleast)
FYI, the map gives the wrong impression about Oregon. We vote by mail here; we've all received our ballots by now and can either mail them or turn them in at Ballot Drop Boxes anytime, so long as they're received by Election Day. My husband and I have already voted Obama/Biden!
kezzerdrix
Get over it, bub. Why anybody can find a valid reason for wanting four more years of republicans is beyond me.
The African American Muslim, as you call him, will be the next Pres. of the U.S. It's easy to see you are unable to articulate your support for the angry white guy beyond calling the other guy names. Good strategy. It's working so well for McC and what's her name.
For all you mindless Sarah, somebody give me a clue, Palin fans maybe you can be proud of her low IQ even more. Brian Williams asked the ditz what would be her pre-conditions before sitting down with a nation we might be at odds with; she had no idea what that meant. It had to be explained to her what 'pre-conditions' were. McCain sat there with this tortured look on his face. He felt helpless as he listened to Palin's mind numbing idiocy. There, another reason for you mindless drones to take up her banner and march behind her ignorant, uneducated, unqualified persona. This woman is nothing short of an absolute ignoramus an idiot.
Someone so horribly lacking in mental capacity should never think about putting themselves out in public view. Now, more than ever, its plain to see why the McCain campaign wanted to keep her from the press, the public and everyone else for that matter. McCain, this reflects on your lack of judgment and intuitive processes. After talking to her you should have that Palin was a complete dummy. Picking her gave the whole of America what your decision making process would be like in the White House; a total disaster...
elephant ears you caught me by surprise and it made me laugh -- your post about me -- thanks for the lol altho i did not imagine it as funny it just surprised me
seriously tho i am largely being tongue in cheek humourous therefore say things in a way i hope is both funny and supportive of our great nation -- like an anne coulter except on the side of decency if you will (not that i'm any anne coulter i actually know her slightly and she is a bright lady despite being wrong headed on every issue)
and in terms of name-calling -- no i do not do that -- i recite facts
$150K make over -- true fact
expense account fraud investigation-- true fact
pregnant high school drop out daughter -- palin parades her and the high school drop out boyfriend on national tv every chance she gets -- not good family values and bad bad bad role modeling -- it's NOT OK to get pregnant and drop out of high school -- we have enough of that in the US and it's called a crisis not a celebration
abuse of power investigation -- true fact
there is also the building contractor investigation but i did not mention that
6-Pack is a name Sarah made up -- you certainly cana't object to that -- al you Joe 6-Packs must love that name -- Sarah 6-Pack has a nice ring to it don't it just sayin'
Rush Limbaugh is a fat drug addict -- true fact -- would the world be better off without him -- well is the world better off without evil people?
Hate Train is what replaced the Straight Talk Express when the Straight Train plummeted over a cliff
oh and Chaos McCain earned that nickname when he caused endless chaos, drama and confusion by playing the very real financial crisis as a cheap PR stunt -- wandering the halls of capital hill with his posse - the debate's on, it's off, it's on, it's off -- not a leader THAT ONE unless you want to be led straight to hell
anyway you get my point --
name calling is what you Chaos / 6-Pack supporters do -- yuor name calling is typically a tip off as to which posts I can skip over -- they are the ones that start off "liberal idiots" or "stupid liberals" or "moronic liberals" etc.
and i believe that is why McCain appeals to you all -- all vicious attack and no substance
McCain assumes we are all stupid
Obama assumes we are all intelligent
I hope Obama is right
OBAMA / BIDEN /08

VC22 Regarding your comment in #1.17
"Respectfully, I have to say that you are seriously underestimating the college students of today. They probably have one of the biggest stakes in this election -- and therefore are voting the way they feel will give them the biggest chance at a brighter future. "
I firmly disagree with your elitist comment. "... college students of today" have no more or no less a stake in this election than anyone else. This is still America and the leftist elitists have not yet been elected. Should that day come and the left looking literati run society that may become true, but not yet. Unless that is what you meant, that in order to become part of that class the educated, they must vote for Obama to insure their own success in the new society as you envision it.
What is wrong with early voting, some people are better prepared than others and already have made up their mind!
Elephantears - Obama would be doing well no matter what his color! If he were a republican you would all be fawning over him (if he was white), as he can actually think and talk at the same time!
If you are a Democrat who cannot name one vote Obama made for the middle class please stay home. McCain Palin 2008
In the 60's and 70's you had to vote in person and use a picture ID, this was the best way to insure proper voting. Now there are 'community organizations' that make an enterprise out of voting, registering and creating areas where fraud has developed. Unfortunately most of this has evolved through laziness and a wish to game the system via left wing organizations and lobbyists. The rules should be rolled back. There is a lot of money involved in fraud and corruption here and the media has their hand in there bigtime too. Why do you think the media now cares very much which way people vote? Millions of dollars were donated to the Obama campaign, so millions of favors will be repaid. It's corrupt.
You are living proof that some mothers should be born sterile
That's not nice, Steve. You're suspended for a day - personal attacks are against the CoH. Please self-moderate better in the future.
Whitebird, I couldn't agree more. The rich are voting for McCain because they don't want to have to give up their luxuries. The poor and middle-class are voting for Obama because they want to be able to cover their necessities. It makes me sick when I hear people like elephantears griping about how terrible it will be when companies will be forced to provide their employees with health insurance! What's wrong with you?!
It's not like employers are being forced to provide their employees with big-screen TVs or fancy cars! This is HEALTH CARE. This is the ability to go to a hospital when you're sick or injured! This is something ALL companies should be providing to their full-time employees! This is a BASIC NECESSITY, and 47 million Americans do not have health insurance! 47 million American's have to live in fear of breaking a bone or having to get emergency appendix surgery because they don't have health insurance.
So all of you who are bemoaning those rich companies who will have to dig into their profits in order to give their employees the basic right of healthcare, take a good HARD look at what keeps these people rich. It's the hard work of their employees - employees that need to be provided with basic things like health care.
Interesting that we are now organize voting on campus with the President marching upfront - historic to vote for the President, so it is not a political debate but racial?
Colleges and universities are full of eligible voters, who have been -- and are usually -- apathetic about voting. Students have been among those citizens least likely to go to the polls. I think that every school should make a special effort to instill a sense of responsibility -- no, civic duty -- about voting in its students. For this is the essence of a functional democracy. Whether it's a historic black college or a historic white college doesn't matter, so long as they help to get out the vote. If our best-educated citizens dedicate themselves to voting in all elections, that bodes well indeed for the health and well-being of our republic.
Tony I personally wrote to thank the President of that University for his inspiring, creative and thrilling move! People are excited about getting their country back!!
As well all of us should be! I wish I'd seen it. Just reading about it made me cry. I am once again grateful and proud to be an American!
and wtih Obama in office we will once again be able to hold our global heads up high!
Getting college kids -- whose world it will be -- involved is good not bad
or are you one of those who believes Palin's party line that FREE SPEECH, VOTING and EDCUATION are bastions of the communists and just more grist for the mills of terrorism?
Chaos / 6-Pack supporters are as scary as the candidates themsleves -- you all really do not like freedom much do you? How unpatriotic of you all.
OBAMA / BIDEN '08
I am loving every second of this. OBAMA!!!
Tony - huh?
The map/chart which showed each state is incorrect. It has South Carolina as one of the states that does not permit early voting. This is incorrect. A voter just needs an excuse such as working during the poll hours, handicapped, senior citizen. I voted on Tuesday Oct. 21
Mike is quite correct.. There is early voting here in SC.
I caught most of the aired interview with McCain/Palin last night on the news, and even though I would not vote for McCain now, wanted to see if I'm being too hard on Palin's lack of anything worthwhile to the VP spot. This aside from her being unclear on the job itself, despite explaining it to 2nd graders, her "unethical" findings in Alaska. What McCain states many times is her extensive experience (which she also points out). The State of Alaska has a bit over 700,000 residents if I read the site correctly, and, yes, as governor she was in charge of 24,000 state employees. Ok, that's managerial and executive. However, the State of SC, which has approximately 3 millions residents state-wide, has a state employee count of 64,916. The State of Pennsylvania has well over 100,000; 24,000 alone are eligible for "furlough" because of budget crises. So, in the grand scheme of things, I think 24,000 is not quite ready for primetime. If you add this to her lack of other qualities, I think it's very clear that she is the worst thing to happen to the GOP. Her base is energized, but so many find her to be such a negative force. The American public has longer memories than most give us credit for; 2012 or beyond is not where she needs to be looking. She needs to sort out unethical issues in her own state and I am sure the voters in Alaska will make her do just that
so true and the gop will never support her bid for re-election so there you go sarah. she was to read the words written for her and play the game as written, but she let the thrill of the crowds go to the little head she had. the accounting starts on friday for sarah and her husband it will be interesting to read.
The map is wrong for Oregon as well. In Oregon we ALL vote by mail, and we got our ballots over the weekend, so we can now vote anytime we want.
I think early voting is the key to fair voting. It's ridiculous that we expect so many people to do something so important on a single day. Of course there will be long lines, mechanical failures, and other things that affect the result if we do it in one day.
Early voting is showing us what kinds of problems are surfacing while there is still time to correct the problems and let people vote. No ballots? Touch screens registering a vote for the opposing candidate? That's all stuff that would completely subvert the democratic process if it happened on Nov. 4. Thank God it is happening now.
Anyone who can vote early should vote early (I'm not even gonna promote a candidate in this statement). Vote early, let the lines get less hectic, give the polling places time to restock and repair equipment, and we will likely have the most fair election in decades.
Oregon is listed as not allowing early voting. This is wrong for we have mail in ballots and I & wife voted last week on 11/15/08.
yes mainebound 6-Pack Palin managed -- in just 20 short months of office -- to rack up not 1 but 3 ethics investigations against her
it must be some sort of record -- not in a good way
and why does she think that as VP she'll "control" the Senate?
uh...if the VP controlled the Senate it would not be a democracy...
OBAMA / BIDEN'08
Dian, trust me, I know... I think one newscaster described it best; she believes her own spin/PR...
I tried to "allow" for her VP job answer, given she was talking to 2nd graders, but c'mon, she could have accurately described the job as helpmate to the president, presides over the senate and votes in case of a tie, takes over temporarily if the President is unable to govern for a little while, and other important things the president wants him/her to do, to help out America. That would have worked without being complicated or too scary. No child needs to think the President might die, or be unable to stay in office. He/She will find out soon enough about government!
Hopefully on Nov. 5 Dan Quayle will have company over in the bad kid corner.____>
Cheney will have his own special place... and it will be real hot there... lol
There is also early voting in NC and in NJ which is not showing on the map. I got a call from my very conservative, republican, business owning in-laws last night. They voted in NJ and I was shocked and happy to hear it was for OBAMA.
In Washington State you have a choice of going to the polls on election day or casting your vote by mail - which many do. I recieved my ballot on Friday, I cast my vote and had it in the mail on Saturday. So, it is not really correct to say that WA doesn't have early voting either.
Also, for those worried about early voting - I don't think there have been any significant problems with voting in Washington, or Oregon (who does it all by mail). I think mail-in may be the way to go - no pesky voting machines.
Electronic voting machines changing the vote, shortage of machines in Democratic precincts, an average of 33,000 voters being deleted from five swing states, sounds like 2000 and 2004 all over again. Have we turned into a banana republic, will we accept another President who wasn't honestly elected?. It takes one senator to stand up on the senate floor and challenge the election and throw the election into the house of representatives , It was pointless in 2000 and 2004 because the Republican party controlled the house and the senate, no longer is that so.
Right on ! The most unpatriotic thing in our country is to allow
the stealing of an election, especially one so important to the
functioning of our planet. It's interesting to hear Palin talk about
Obama being so unpatriotic when her husband (and probably her)
wanted Alaska to seceed from the United States. Can't get more
unpatriotic than that !
That's why everyone need to be active. If people don't start protecting their votes and taking a stand it is always going to be this way. There are plenty of websites that tell you how to keep from getting your vote taken and then you pass that on.
I don't think the Reps will be able to steal this one as easily as they did last time. People are on to them and information and efforts to stop it are really good this year.
Totally off topic but I saw Karl Rove today.. eeesh he is disgusting. I like John Stewart's description of him. The man with a head like a potato.. that is SO correct.
When voters call opponents potato heads and bimbos, we can be assured tired same-old-same-old Dems like Biden and BHS will have a chance.
This is a big worry of mine.
Who is in charge of watching and rechecking the ballot counter/recorder, and why is it so hard for anyone to to see proof of a count?
Tom - your's is a ridiculous comment aimed at taking pot shots at democrats.
MOST of the name-calling I've seen and read AND respond to on newsvine and elsewhere, come from self-admitted republicans.
Get off your horse dude, before he trips and throws you...
The U.S. does not meet the basic requirements the UN has for free and fair elections. We have just been "grandfathered" in because we have been voting for so long. Carter's foundation works to set up election processes in 3rd world or developing nations, and those nations have better systems (corruption-proof, accessible for voters, etc).
I think we should have a consistent nationwide voting system with a paper trail and with sufficient time allowed that those who work two jobs to get food on the table still have time to vote .
How about this:
Vote by mail for all states using paper ballots that can be retained for recounts and that can be read using scantron machines.
A two week period for voting, with people getting their ballots two weeks before the election day, and a well publicized post-mark date for returning ballots as well as drop off sites for last minute voters.
Signature envelopes to prevent voter fraud, with secrecy envelopes inside that to protect privacy.
Gee....I'm a genius! Except that this is exactly what the state of Oregon currently does, so this is not something I came up with on my own. It works here. It would work nationwide.
.
2. Pa(none of this
I didn't call him a name I said he is disgusting and I like John Stewart's description. His head indeed looks like a potato.
As for disgusting he is a dangerous man and a criminal. The sight of him walking around a free man makes me sick. I hope one day his crimes catch up to him.
My day was going well until you mentioned Karl Rove now I feel I am nose-diving into the abyss of hopelessness...Oh well, guess I'll just double up on my anti-anxiety medications and vote early for Obama/Biden 2008.
Aww crap sorry Cim. Just do what I do and hope and pray someone eventually indicts his ass.
palco you are right we all need to get off the vine and start writing to our representatives now as well as to the officials in the swing states!
LET FREEDOM RING!
Tom....I guess most of these people (say, 85%) don't see all their buds taking POT SHOTS, name calling, slamming, lying, etc. directed at the Reps! Guess they are the only ones allowed to sound ignorant & not realize it!
The chart/map is incorrect for it has South Carolina as one of the states where early voting is not permitted. All one has to do is provide an excuse such as working during election day, handicapped, over 65. I voted on the 21st of Oct. without any problem.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=gA6_k3NtXZs
Ask yourself before you vote....Do I want someone who is hiding his past?
YEP!..LOL
Absolutely. Hope he reads the Koran when he's inaugurated.
Love those paranoid videos. It's like watching a comedy. I needed a good laugh today.
Eris, if you want a laugh, go read Obama's platform! Maybe when Obama gets in we'll have early voting in "all 57" states. (And they call GWB a dumbass, LOL!)
Sure they will still vote for Obama he is the all knowing, all powerful, savior for this country. Last time i looked he had a halo around his head.
I assure you that one doesn't need to be all-knowing or all-powerful to be a better choice than McSame
Obama '08!
Lord Jesus! can't we just get off this band wagon with the rest of the hbigots , and vote for the best man for the job ! OBAMA/ BIDEN
Oh yeah let's laugh at Obama saying 57 states. ahahaha that was funny.
OK I got one for you... WHERE'S SPAIN?
AHHAHAHAHAHAA
Oh wait.. in the Latin American hemisphere?? AHAHAHAHA
And they called GWB a dumbass LMAOOOO
Real Virginian from Pro-American part of USA voting for Obama/Biden 08.
Did yall not get the memo? Ayers and terrorism is out this week... the smear of the week is socialism.
Oh and I got another one for ya..
Putin is flying over Alaska!
AHAHAHAHHHAHAAHA
ooh I have to stop I could do this all day but my belly hurts now
That's good news Alykatma.. spread the word. Palin is a socialist.
And she has been bragging about it.
Yeah. Like John Sydney McCain and Sarah Palin. A lot of past history there. You betcha!
BTW Al Quaeda put out a video. They support John McCain because the Iraq war has been beneficial to recruiting members. The longer the US is in Iraq the more it benefits them and terrorist experts agree. The war in Iraq has helped them more than anything. They want the US in Iraq longer. They even threatened another attack to push the election in McCain's direction and they called him The Son of Bush.
Scary crap isn't it?
eris i'm not sure 6-Pack is a socialist
are neo-Nazis socialists?
thanks eris
I've spoken to current and past vets -- the ones I've spoken to say a few things:
1. yes we are killing terrorists in Iraq BUT THEY ARE TERRORISTS WE CREATED OURSELVES
2. they signed up thinking they would be getting Bin Laden and are highly disppointed to get to Iraq and feel they are jeopardizing life and soul in vain
3. they would rather go to afghanistan 3xs then go to iraq 1x for the above reasons.
Obama has promsied to find and kill Bin Laden and I intend to hold him to it
Meanwhile McCain is off in the corner singing BOMB BOMB BOMB to himself and Palin thinks Russia is allowed to fly over American lands; admits she has not paid attention to the Iraq war; believes seeing Russia from her state is all the foreign policy she needs (how hard can this global stuff be or economic stuff for that matter); and figures it will all be striaghtened out when she, as VP, together with uneducated Todd control the Senate.
OBAMA / BIDEN '08
LMAO
I think they prefer the term National Socialist or Nationalists
LMAO
It is true. But we were never there for terrorists and the whole world knows it. Bush/Cheney/PotatoHead and McCain too and their greed for power and control is what got us there and in the interim we have created a monster.
Although with McCain I think he just likes the whole tough guy thing. I am not sure he understands the concept of power. I think he just likes "taking the other guy down"
I am praying like crazy they don't do another attack. I think McCain in office means more of the same craziness and Constitutional wreckage that has been going on for 8 years.

Sure they will still vote for Obama he is the all knowing, all powerful, savior for this country. Last time i looked he had a halo around his head.
Well that's just plain silly... OF COURSE most folks will still vote for the candidate with a halo around his head, as opposed to the alternative... the candidate with an "albatross" around his neck.
Yes, yes , yes - go Obama!!!!!
LMOA!!! That is so funny and true!!
Good one! :>
WOW! If this is not a statement of how ready the American public is for changes in Washington , I dont know what is. Florida A&M good for you. Your leadership should serve as am inspiration for others to follow. I can not wait for voters to have the chance to clean out the congress and the house in two years.
All I can say is " IT"S TIME FOR ELECTED OFFICALS TO GET IT RIGHT, DEMO, REP or IND" in Washington as well as state and local arenas! (Not necessarly just my way but just the right way for us all!)
Are you seriously telling me that they aren't acting like lemmings ? Almost a thousand people and not one of them is voting for McCain because they want to see the first Black American President ? Give me a break already. I really believe this is the first time I have been angered by a seed. White people are racist a bigots if they support McCain but heck as long as the black americans support Obama they are the saviors of our country ? Talk about double standards at their best. These college students need to think freely and not just vote for this man based on his color to make some kind of historical statement, to which they have no real clue what it is. I don't doubt they can think on their own, but the mob mentality wins every time .. it's called peer pressure. How do you think they would be made to feel if they openly said they voted for McCain ? I am tolerant of a lot of BS but this was way over the top.
As for early voting, I thinks it's ridiculous unless you have an REAL reason to do it. There is way too much that can go wrong in 2 weeks, which I am sure if McCain wins the other side will be crying about the injustice and tampering (and once again I don't support EITHER one of these tickets).
I do not understand why they would print such a racist remark as the one made by Robert Jones? Can't we vote for someone based on their character, not the color of their skin?
dwayne-987654,yes we can but they can not.you see the world has left them behind but they made that choice to stay just as we were so ok leave them there and lets get on with the race to change the race to unite and the race to improving the lives of all americans. there are many republicans who stand with Obama/Biden and we are both young and old, rich and poor.
FIRST.........PLEASE can someone explain to this idiot....if Election Day is November 4, 2008.....why in the HELL are people voting now?
This is like the new model automobiles............the 2009's are out before 2008 is half over. WTF?
because, boboamma is a black running for president he can call the shots or screams RACISIM. Plus Opra's big no-no endorses him, so now he's celebrity....but who couldn't see the RACISIM in that one. this whole election is a farce. i might move to canada if he's elected. well not might, i will. be safer, and I'd be secure with my job.
good riddance. Canada wouldn't take you, eh?
actually, general motors electric diesel division had given me an offer a while back.....where are they located at? Canada
Well, here I go again responding to the mentally challenged. Hey Kezz, remember to feed the gators before supper and give the corn mash a good stirrin'. Don't forget to fertilize the "funny weeds" out in the garden.
Scopata-- early voting allows for people who will be otherwise engaged on polling day to cast their vote. If, for instance, I found out today that I would be travelling for work on Nov 4-- I might take the opportunity to vote now, for convenience. It is no different than submitting an absentee ballot, if you are overseas in the military, or domiciled in a different state (say as a college student) than your residence-of-record. Election Day is a "must vote by today" deadline, not necessarily a "can only vote on" deadline. Look at it like turning in a paper early, not having to show up for a final exam.
Kezzerdrix-- Oprah, as a private citizen, can endorse whomever she wishes, so I'm not sure what it is you're objecting to there. But, if you feel the need to vote a referendum on the election with your feet by moving out of the country and giving up your citizenship, that is your right.
As an open comment, all this wrangling about who has played the "race card' is unfortunate. Like it or not, race remains a major issue in American politics and society-- but reducing it to a game of "who trumps who" is stopping us from really dealing with the issue in a substantive way, one thing I would have liked to see happen in this campaign. If it annoys you that the student body and faculty of a traditionally black college has taken the initiative to vote early as a political statement, then look at the history of African-American politics and education, and ask yourself why they might feel the need.
Kezzerdrix, do you need some help packing. You will be one less bigot.
You know Canadians don't feed to the racial BS if you try to bring it up.
It has to do with the fact that there are more people
than voting machines and some actually have to work
for a living and can't afford to take a day off to wait in
an endless line like Floridians did in '04 . Only a person
who endorses the techniques utilized in the '00 & '04
Presidential elections would be against the basis of our
Constitution and ideals set forth by our founding fathers.
Early voting allows people to not have to stand in lines to vote. I would think that more people would choose to vote because early voting is more convenient than fighting the crowds at the polls.
I chose to vote early because at the last presidential election I stood in line for 3 hours and was afraid that it would be even worse this time. Plus, now when someone calls or comes to my door I can say "I've already voted" and they'll leave me alone!
It's a matter of convenience I guess. I stood in line for 45 minutes yesterday to vote as opposed to the 3.5 hours I stood in line last time I waited till election day.
WmRAllen,
All party and non-party affiliations aside...
Reading a rational, educated, intelligent, well-thought and cohesive comment, such as your's, is uplifting and always a pleasure.
I appreciate it and you.
Retired to Florida, thank you!
Just because a person votes early does not mean his ballot is read/counted until the poles close on election day. So really, what is the big deal?
I hope Obama bin laden loses by 1, personally i'm so sick of seeing his ugly mug....i hope if he is elected, some ....well we are over due for a presidential assination, funny that would be the first time i thought that about a president......jk....to a point
I believe there might be something wrong with you.
This story is about early voting.
You really want to see someone kill him if he's elected?
You seem like a sick person to me, and I'm not kidding.
you are a truly sick and dangerous person -- may the men in black come knocking at your door.
Just another hateful racist, Mary. His type is what the "ignore list" is for.
naw, just don't like liars, and seeing the same lying face every day....why I was serious, I'll more than likely be moveing to Canada. If lie-boy is elected....pack up the wife and kids......boom.....outta here....good luck "with that". Funny how nobody thinks...i may be black?
see how it comes out im a black racist.....lol
kez you do know that the secret service reads these blogs.if you keep up with the hate, your a$$ may be in cuba for the election
just goes to show ya what a comic strip this has been since day 1....Not to mention a black cutting down a celebrity black, makes me a racist.....
Kezzerdrix,
Canada looks pretty good right about now.
But then again, I dont think you're gonna make it that far.
Have you picked out a plot yet?
Maybe you should, it's not so expensive.
Cause you'll probably kick the bucket, with a massive
coronary, WHEN Obama becomes YOUR President.
well they can read all they want to, i never said anything that i was or was going to have anyone shoot anybody.....hopes are not illegal, and golly polly, i dont see anywhere that i said i was going to do anything now does it? For exsample, 1 I don't own a weapon, 2 I don't have the heart to kill someone....might if it was my life or thiers, but they'd more likly win. 3 it's the i kinda almost feel....like the part...."jk= just kidding, to a point, =means it's getting there. Not to mention, America does have a record altho it was broken during the Bush legacy, where what was it, 4th president was assinated, or had an assination attempt?....so unlike some people's ghestapo thoughts, I never even hinted, i was gonna assinate anyone, and wishing it hmmmmm that breaches even more than the freedom of speech of americans. but go ahead jump to conclusions
I think you should rethink the part about wanting to see a president or anyone killed and may be seek some medical help before you say something to someone even more disturbed than you and end up hurt or killed.
I wish you luck and some happiness.
By the way, I didn't vote for McCain.
You know you can be easily traced if something did happen to Obama. I would love to give the FBI this "confession" you just spewed.
You can give it to the FBI
They have a spot on their website just for it.
tips.fbi.gov
Hopefully the Secret Service is monitoring this and
will be watching you closely. Your politicians have
actually made it quite easy to "easedrop" on those
considered to be domestic terrorists like you.
If they weren't they will be. Remember the investigations into the "Kill him" thing? I don't think they will find his joke as funny as he did.
j/k... to a point
Yeah you're a real funny guy
Why is this poster () still allowed to post here with the inflammatory language that he/she is using?
I hit the "ignore" button so hopefully all the posts will just disappear for me, but these posts offer absolutely no value.
Kezzerdrix
You do know that Canada is a socialist state, don't you? Theay have national health care! And cheap college education!
After eight years of economical and moral rape to this country and the world, and to see comments like this remind me how important is is for decent human beings no matter what their political view, to stand up and shame shallow and cowardly people into whatever cave they may reside.
palco
The world is run by cowards. Hence, the current state of affairs.
Shame doesn't work on people like this. They have no shame. We can let the government see how funny they think he is since he thinks he is such a comedian. If they decide he is a threat then he will wish he had an ounce of shame. Or at least half a brain.
now this is why we must vote and continue towards the change that is needed in this country. racist is the tool of the white and now you hear it being used against the one bright voice for change. the thing that these bigots can never understand is why we support Obama because he is black they missed the point we support him because he is the best man for the job. soon all bigots will be standing alone because we the american people are tired of all the bs they spread.
Please be careful what you say. A lady reported that an Obama caller turned her into the Secret Service because the citizen said "Obama's a socialist & let babies die in a closet in a hospital." The S.S. drove from Houston to Texarkanna, to ask her these questions. Said, they also had the right to question her neighbors & her family. Thank goodness her husband was there to back her up. The husband & wife were not allowed to know who the Obama solicitor was, nor did they have a recording to play to the couple. The S.S. said that we should not say anything to these solicitor's....if you do not agree.
I believe you are seeing a glimpse of things to come from this canidate. Remember his next agenda will be to disarm Americans & take away our Carry Permits, so we can not defend ourselves. Much the way that Hitler did to the Jews before he threw them into concentrations camps.
Krezzerdrix -- You are so lucky to live in this country and be able to spew your garbage without repercussion. By the way, I'm sure you're opposed to any type of socialism -- don't think Canada is your solution!!!!! Funny, they are the one country that is not experiencing the economical problems that the rest of us "capitalist" countries are!!!!!
I feel terribly sorry for you and your attitudes. Must be a hard way to live. In reality, though, I think you are a paid talking head for the Republic Party and you should limit your blogs to Fox News because they are the only ones who will give you the time of day.
Wow! Now I've heard it all. Obama will put us all into concentration camps!!! Run for your lives!!!
Do you realize that an increasing number of Americans want guns to be illegal. I don't own a gun, nor do I plan on owning a gun. If everyone's license to carry were taken away I would be thrilled. Hunting rifles = fine. License to carry/conceal = no good.
Obama '08
p.s. The Jews were not disarmed before being hauled off to concentration camps. Jews aren't in the gun toting crowd and never have been.
You do know that if the world could vote, they'd vote for Obama. As a matter of fact, out of 180 countries including Canada, where you want to go if Obama is elected, they would vote 92% for Obama. You see Krezzerdrix, your kind, whether you are black or not, are in a very small minority.
Crockett, where do you get these ideas? Obama has specifically said he supports 2nd amendment rights, but that he thinks we should keep assault weapons out of the hands of criminals. As for Hitler and the jews, they didn't have any guns to take away. I suppose you will now use that as an argument that if they did have guns they could have prevented the holocaust. Right. The wermacht defeated by civilians with deer rifles, shotguns and pistols. One of the most ridiculous arguments by gun nuts in this country is that gun ownership means that in a dire threat to our freedoms by a tyrant we can fight back. Can't you just see the good 'ol boys in their pickups, deer rifles, shotguns and an occasional AK47 sticking out the windows, roaring off to do battle with the U.S. Army.
Yeah that will be a big help against tanks, and apache helicopters. lmaoo
maryaponders and other
we have Palin largely to thank for people like kezedrick
she is the one who incited crowds to yell KILL HIM and SIT DOWN BOY
and somehow she got away with it and i'd like to know why frankly
and she had the audacity to say she would galdly say Obama pals around with terrorists again (Campbell Broww CNN a few nights ago)
McCain / 6-Pack right now are sending out these incredibly expensive and offensive and dangerous mailings with cut out letters spelling terrorists and when you open the card there is Obama
Obama needs to start a lawsuit against these people
any and all Obama supporters please contribute to his campaign so he can fight these dangerous tactics! i know you've likely given all you can but even $5 more to finish this right! I swore I would not give more but i did today.
I really want my country back.
OBAMA / BIDEN '08
I hope he does too. Though he probably won't.
What I'd like to see is after both McCain and Palin are defeated in their bid for President and V.P. that both their states get rid of them too. End their political careers.
I believe Kezzerdrix is an unbalanced individual and we should all report him. He has nothing to add to the blog except very inflammatory ignorant rants. I don't care what candidate you are voting for, who wants a lunatic inciting such hateful actions!
He's been reported several times now I think. To the Secret Service, the FBI and newsvine.
Obama can't start a lawsuit against them cause all the things they are saying are True.. sorry dian..
There is no proof anyone did anything like you say in the above post.. IF this had actually Happened there would be Video to back it up.. but there is none.. Why?.....because Racist Democrats like to say it happened without having any proof then people like you continue to spout the lie..
And here we go with all the hate.....see , its kinda ALMOST funny TO A POINT, cause, i never said i or anyone was going to, actually, was going to do anything. /Kinda said too, I don't own a weapon,(gun for the simple minded liberals), never said I was or anyone was nor did I tell anyone to, or even SUGGEST,do anything to anyone(that includes Obama for simple minded lets blow something out of context Obama "fans" and Oprah lovers). Now some supporters of Omama want to carry it out to what now....next someone will say because I don't like Osama bin laden, (not to be confused with Barak Obama ok?) and think well ya, he should be dropped like a deer, nobody would care, (not saying< Obama, but Bin laden 4 the simple folk), but all of a sudden it's like mayhem. I think if i recall correctly, someone posted a while back, (too far back to even look for), someone said something simalar, only more to the exstreme about every other president before today, includeing, that Bush should be shot and killed, hanged or some crap like that, but hey, most of us ( i can't vouch for Obama supporters however), just cause someone thinks or feels something doesnt mean squat, hey, what i think what you think, they person next to you thinks, gotta think right, have feeling? Now, as well just because I'm sick of seeing someone's face all the time talking about what they think i want to hear to do the oppisite later, qualify's me as someone that's going to "kill" someone or do any kind of "bodily, physical harm", well those people are sadly mistaken. So now, because some "DING-DONGS" didn't like what i had to say....the only way to start trouble is to blow it out of proportion, well, and those are the type of people that vote for Obama, but that is only in "my eyes" and only "my opinion", but I'd put a lifetimes of paychecks to bet, lol that this as well, turns into a Obama fest of rants....because i think Obama is not, nor will he be, anything that he claims himself to be, nor will he do the things he claims he will do. He can't. The way he wants to do it, just will not work, but hey, believe what you like, as will i. Don't like what i say or think....golly polly, I see a lot of people not likeing a lot of stuff a lot of people have to say. Only diffrence.....I'm not for 1 second fooled by Obama. Nor do I support Obama, and yes.....I do so hope he loses. I'd like to see the most pitiful loss in history....really i would, dont think it will be, but i dont think he has as many people as Obama lovers think, and will be a somewhat close one, but if it is.....1 vote, just 1 would be something history just wouldn't put down, no matter who wins. So, far all the lil I'm a so-so because i don't think YOU or OBAMA is right....so what, thats how i think, don't like it? Well, Russia has a nice policy of sticking people in the nut-house for not thinking the way they like, perhaps, maybe perhaps some might like it better there, i mean, then everyone will think like you, even if they don't want to, but then....golly, you can't think for yourself, can you?.....however election day IS Nov. 4th, I'll hit the polls, Vote MCCAIN/PALIN for 08, because I'm not special people who's change(and the only change you will see outside of totaling the government the rest of the way) will be giving a bogus election day.....I wonder ....think he'll go back to his racist church he attended for how many years, (only to find out it was racist ONLY after he started running for president, and took how long to disown AFTER everyone found out it was a RACIST church another JOKE), oh....thats right, DC is too far , well I'm sure he'll find one close by. But see, there's the stuff....and thats just 1 thing, that took the vote I might have had for HIM, and turned it into vapor. You want change with Obama? ....don't worry trust me, you'll get change alright....just don't count on it being the change you were looking for, and don't be disappointed, or cry all about it, cause everyone else tried to tell ya, he lies, he's a racisit, who attended a racisit church, pal'd up with slum-lords, put money in thier pockets as well his, and terrorists, ( you can put lipstick on a terrorist, its still a terrorist)and told you everything you wanted to hear....just to get elected.
Please just stick to your short rants, they don't make any more sense than the long ones, but they do take up less space.
To make it blunt, I never said, suggest, hinted anything that I nor anyone should shoot, kill or do any bodily harm to Obama....How I feel or anyone feels about anyone INCLUDEING OBAMA, or anyone else for that matter is a god givein right, kinda comes as a birth right called freedom of thought and exspression. Now I'll be willing to toss a life time of pay to say what I also say after will be BLOWN out of proportion as well. Obama just so happend to belong to a "all of a sudden" RACIST church? Didn't denounce it till when, after how long? Everyone knows the SLUMLOARDS he coveted, he never had any knowlege they were SLUMLORDS putting money in thier pockets, and chumming around with them. As far as Ayers goes( remember Obama's terrorist pal, and good neighbor kitty corner or some crap), well an American terrorist, is an American TERRORIST, no matter how much "lipstick" the democrats shmear on his and his wife's face. As far as racist goes, not gonna stop now...Oprah and "her" show falls into that bracket as well. But back to the party....Election day IS Nov. 4th, and that "if" Obama is elected, will be the ONLY CHANGE you will see. Outside of running the government the rest of the way into the dirt. Kinda funny....seriously....the guy belonged to a publicly racist church, for how long, and he acts like it wasnt like that till he started running? Thats not the funniest part tho.....the punchline of it is......people BELIEVE HIM, aaaand....to top it with cherries.....god its better than SNL.....PEOPLE ARE GOING TO VOTE FOR HIM! Thats just CRAZY FUNNY! He fipped on almost every issue to what people wanted to hear, and even FUNNIER, people buy it.
At least McCain's record stands, if he did, voted, or whatever, he doesnt lie about it, he fesses up, he doesnt flip on a subjusct, cause its what you want to hear....he stands his ground, and stays there. THAT is president material, not flip-flop ill fish for this topic, its what they want to HEAR. So ya, go vote Obama...go ahead, I'm sure it'll give all you Obama/Oprah/ Biden supporters a issue to cry how wrong you were if "that" does win....Perhaps also, those that like to TWIST what people say, and distort it to whatever (Obama,Oprah, Biden fans, knotice i dont say "supporters") If you don't like what people think, because it isnt what YOU think, there's a huge place called Russia, there everyone who thinks diffrent gets locked up in a nut-house. Better than being pinned down in a welfare country....the direction it will go if Obama is elected.....there's your change....early election for speacial people, and more welfare, the country can't afford to pay out as it is.
Short rants, please!! There are so many mistakes in the drivel you write, and not just the spelling and grammatical. Write to Palin, you and she are obviously on the same 2nd grade mentality level.
steve i'm not sure which part of my post you said was not true or had no video
in terms of the "he pals around with terrorists" spouted out by Palin there is plenty of footage to back it up as well as plenty of footage of her rousing her rabble to shouts of KILL HIM and SIT DOWN BOY millions including myself saw it on CNN and it was dicussed on ABC -- Palin should not be inciting hate and violence against a US Senator but she did -- and when it got out of hand she shoud have stopped it but she did not
AXIS OF EVIL THAT ONE
in terms of the new mailing from McCain -- it is on the Obama web site go check it out -it's really creepy - you cannot expect McCain to be posting this sort of trash on his own web site i don't think
he is not leader enough to come out into the light with half the stuff he does -- but he's still doing it
so what part was not true again?
thanks, OBAMA / BIDEN '08
About Nazi Germany and the Jews, it was my understanding that the reason for the lack of armed organized resistance was not due to the lack of arms but to ignorance (at least until the latter stages) of the fact that the purpose of the roundup and incarceration was extermination, not resettlement.
As for Jews not being in the gun-toting crowd, perhaps you've not been paying much attention to news from the Middle East for the past 60 years. It seems to me that the Jewish experience in Europe may have changed a few minds regarding the possession and use of firearms.
Also, the right to keep and bear arms was the #2 amendment to the Constitution, just behind the one promising freedom of speech, religion, assembly and the right to petition the Government for redress of grievances, which suggests (to my mind) just how important that 'the right to keep and bear arms' was considered to be. Such a prominant position seems inconsistent with the idea that the purpose of the was to promise the freedom to practice for Olympic target competition or blow away Bambi. Our Revolutionary forefathers did not appear to have the same confidence in the unwavering good intentions of government (even the one that they set up) which seems to predominate amongst the products of this naton's public eduational system (Oh no! Political indoctrination? That only happens in non-democracies.--right)
As to the question of the hopelessly unequal struggle between a poorly armed civilian population and the world's only remaining superpower with it's awesome array of weapons, take heart, as the people of Vietnam quite clearly demonstrated to anyone paying attention, such a contest is not as hopeless as it might initially appear.
Finally, from what I have heard, those states which have laws permitting the carrying of concealed weapons have lower rates of forcible/violent crime than those who do not. The person intent upon robbery or murder is little concerned with the possible illegal nature of the firearm that he carries but the thought that you might have your own appears to have a somewhat chilling effect.
So you do what you like, but it is my intention to have access to firearms so long as others (including the State) has them, whether or not I am legally allowed to do so.
Don't kid yourself the Reuplicans will be out in force on Nov. 4th.
The Republicans will do their civic duty even if they are not behind the McCain/Palin ticket.
That is where the Republicans and Democrats differ.
Lots of Democrats will sit back and let others do their civic duty and may exert themselves to join in a celebration if Obama/Biden are successful.
Why do you think Sen. Obama is running so hard to get out the vote.
History has shown that Democrats want someone else to do the lifting, just give them their handout.
This years election has become historic because Mr. Obama has moved people to get out and work for the campaign...the response has been overwhelming.....more people (Dems and Repub) are getting out to vote than in any other election to date. No matter which party you belong to, that is amazing.....
You have contradicted yourself by saying that Dems sit back and let others do their civic duties, and Mr. Obama has rallied us to become a blanket of unity and hard work. I for one have worked my ass off for this campaign....and regardless of who wins this election, I'm proud of the work we have done.
How much of YOUR free time is spent actually working for the McCain party, or do you this that just posting here is enough for your civic responsibility?
Glad you feel like Republicans will be well represented.
Personally I think they're a bunch of bullies who will not
show their faces in public because they've been exposed
as hateful moronic destroyers of our global civilization.
Sorry they had to take the whole world down with 'em.
Pam..
You really got my interest up when you said,.... "Mr. Obama has moved people to get out and work... " but then you followed with "for the campaign". .... I thought I was actually going to read something inspiring that Obama was going to do if he was elected.
If only you had stopped at "has moved people to get out and WORK...."
Are you a one-worlder? Is your guy? Absolute best reason to avoid him.
Kari - are you implying that if you are a democrat that you don't have a work ethic? I'm a democrat and I have been working since I was 15 years old... sometimes holding 2 jobs -- and I have also volunteered for several philanthropies and for political campaigns steadily throughout my life. One of my core beliefs is that one should always give back to their community in order to help others who may not be so fortunate.
Just giving you a different view of who Democrats are.
I also wanted to let you know that I hope your posts are not representative of the Republican base. If they are, then I can see why one would not vote republican. All I have seen from you is hatred, sarcasm and nastiness. Who wants to be led by a party that believes in those things?
Listen Up
To what history are you refering? When have Dems let others do the heavy lifting? It's a cute little line to utter, but what evidence do you have?
something new please, you missed the point I was making ,I know the internet is not the problem I just wanted to remind the poster that while he/she has a voice and uses here to post such bs,I wanted them to use their time on the net to better inform themselves so that when they do comment it will have a base other than the racist bs I have heard here.
Old enough
I hear you. My point was that you're partaking in wishful thinking. Those who truly want to be informed are; those that want to continue believing what they've been believing their whole lives will. I see your comment more as a prayer than a call to arms. One of the reasons I'm so enthused about Obama is that I believe he's a good role model for the youth of this country. We've had eight years of a president who got to where he is because of his daddy. Now, we're being offered McCain in the same fashion. Daddy and Grandaddy were both four-star Admirals, no? Could that be how he got into the naval academy? hmmm? He's a child of entitlement like Bush (both 41 & 43). Obama, on the other hand, is self made and inteligent. I think an Obama presidency will bring with in an increase in education (both through policy and leadership-by-example) and public service.
Obama '08!
pam i can't get out but i do see being on the vine as a contribution otherwise i would not spend the time and i am doing all i can as well
you descibe Obama well -- unifying -- quietly energizing (vs. hysterically energizing all sizzle and burn and no steak)
Your describe Obama as an agent of unity and of reform and that is his enormous experience base
You describe a true leader!!!!!
OBAMA / BIDEN '08
there is nothing Unifying about Obama. he is playing the Class warfare tactic the same thing the democrats always do. Blame people that have worked very hard for what they have achieved and then tell them that all that hard work was for nothing .. Cause obama is gonna take it from the people that worked hard and achieved and give it to the lazy people that wont work.. I notice you say you can't get out Dian.. its not that you cant. its that you wont and want Govt to provide for you..
It's not Obama playing class warfare, it's the Republicans. The Republicans have had 8 years to improve the country but they haven't. Just gotten us into more debt, and pushed more of us into a smaller income bracket. I have worked hard all my life and am almost 60 and have very little left to show for all my investments. I lost 1/3 of my investment's worth over the last several months. That hurts because it wasn't that much to begin with. I am tired of the rich getting richer and us middle class folks getting poorer.
And Steve, obviously you are the devil's child for what you spew forth to other people, you know nothing of Dian, yet you accuse her of wanting the government to provide for her. Most of us who have paid taxes and insurance all our lives WOULD like to be helped once in a while instead of the many deadbeats who drain our coffers regularly.
Whitebird .. then put the blame where it belongs .. I know you dont like to hear the truth but it was the Democrat policy of Fannie and Freddie that caused you to lose all that you ahve invested.. I know that i can't convince you to research anything but the facts are the Facts.
but you keep on believing all the things that Obama tells you. but in the End your gonna pay alot higher taxes than what he is telling you.
VC-22 and Pam..
Where in THIS: "Pam.. You really got my interest up when you said,.... "Mr. Obama has moved people to get out and work... " but then you followed with "for the campaign". .... I thought I was actually going to read something inspiring that Obama was going to do if he was elected.
If only you had stopped at "has moved people to get out and WORK...."
... did I ever mention a democrat or any certain group? Obama has said .. over and over and over that he is going to create millions of new jobs... but he has NOT mentioned anything about getting Americans motivated to go into the workforce. You know as well as I do that there are many AMericans who take handouts from the governent EVERY month when they are very, very capable of working instead. But it is easier to get a check than to work. I understand that there are truly needy Americans.. BUT there are also those that CHOOSE to label themselves as needy when they really are not. And it is well known, that the democrats are the political party that continues to supply those handouts and enabling those people. Wouldn't it be great to hear those actual words come out of a candidate's mouth? Something like.. "I have made a promise to provide jobs.. now let's ALL go to work!" You can't seriously think that is a bad thing. Can you?
"All I have seen from you is hatred, sarcasm and nastiness. Who wants to be led by a party that believes in those things?"
This is completely false. Sarcasm.. yes, when I respond to personal attacks or when what I say is taken out of context.. you bet! Hatred and nastiness? Not at all. I'm going to back through these now and see what you have had to say... I'm betting that eventually I am going to be able to prove you a hypocrit. Let's see if you practice what you preach.
Obama is the only real change that can be made. McCain has tied himself to big business, the far right, and the religious nuts, as well as being just plain demented. And if he has a stroke in office, omg, we have Barbie Palin, with fangs. No thanks, I'll go with the calm, intelligent one.
kari you've been asked before to stop being so nasty please stop being so horrible all the time for real you and your posse T-Lame and Steve here are all really mean-spriited angry people and the only personal attacks on these posts come from you all
It's really depressing and at the same time despicable that a university student interviewed after voting would say "It's our chance to elect the first black president". Voting should not be based on skin color, ethnicity, or anything else but capability to fill the position. Pro Obama voters should be very careful not to push the race card in the face of American voters...they may see a backlash the size of which they've never seen.
I'll have to go vote for McCain to make sure that at the very least, someone with solid experience in Washington will be in the White House protecting my country. As McCain has said...none of our enemies will be testing him when he's in the White House.
Obama's idea of "spreading the wealth" is another way of saying that he intends to literally take money away from people who have worked and earned it by their achievements, education and give it to the losers who have made it a career of holding their hands out waiting for govt handouts. Communism or socialism at its best. Obama will be encouraging the losers in our society to continue being losers and discouraging any type of personal achievement. OUr country's economy will be further ruined and it will take decades before we can return to normalcy.
Forget the university student Rachael, that was Colin Powells reasoning in essence as well! I have no intention of voting for the democratic party's "can I make it up to you" candidate.
The man was literally thrust into the nomination, by the media, and a democratic party brazen enough to think they could finagle their way back to the White House by claiming change and prosperity, comes at the hand of a supremely unqualified senator from Illinois, who has a Muslim name, and who just happens to be black.
Obviously, the almost messianic attraction, is undoubtedly due to his political prowess.( The last sentence was sarcasm, for the benefit of the simpletons out there)
I don't think you are aware that taxation of any form is 'spreading the wealth'. Guess what, the wealth has been being spread for a long time. Hmmm, even our founders taxed us, guess they were socialists huh? Ever heard of the whiskey rebellion?
"Spread the wealth" Bush has been doing all this time.. where have you been? he took it from the middle class and gave it to the wealthy. He took small business loans and gave them to wealthy corporations. And don't even bother calling Obama a socialist. All he plans to do is roll back the taxes to where they were during the Clinton administration.
If you want to see a socialist have a look a Palin. She is the biggest socialist there is yet a lot of people seem to be ignoring that fact.
She redistributed the wealth in Alaska. You know, taking the oil profits, impose a tax and kick it back to Alaskans...
Note: Sarah Palin is the governor of a state that practices collective ownership of oil and other natural resources, and equally distributes the state's cut of the revenues to every citizen.
As for those "losers" with their hands out. Some of those people were just screwed over by hard times, death in the family, serious injury and job losses.
Why aren't you pissing and moaning about the wealthy that takes your money and jobs away from you? Do you think they need more?
Do you think ALL wealthy people work? Some of them haven't worked a day in their life.
I do hope you're not a Christian. Because that is a very unChristian-like attitude.
As for simpletons Clint...
“With one voice, 65 of the nation’s greatest minds, the largest number of Nobel Laureates to ever endorse a political candidate for office, have encouraged the American public to vote Obama on November 4th.”
Since you aren't one of those (or even close) I think I will hold their opinion in much higher regard.
People are asking me about the race problem.... I know of no race problem. The great problem that confronts the American people to-day is a national problem -- whether this great nation of ours is great enough to live up to its own convictions, carry out its own declaration of independence, and execute the provisions of its own constitution. (1893)
~Frederick Douglass~
Rachel
I'm an Obama supporter, but I agree with you that there are a lot of bigots out there that might not want hear young black folks talking about electing the first black president. There may in fact be a backlash. Sadly, there's still too many Americans that don't want black people to be "uppidy" in that way. I trust that you're not one of them.
Obama '08!
I don't think there is anything wrong with stating the truth. If the tables were turned and this were the first white President, white people would be saying the same thing. It is not black people's fault that some white people can't get over it.
G'Morning, Eris!
Kari, if the Democrat's didn't work......we wouldn't even have an economy.
LOL Morning Pam!
Oh Pam now you are just being silly... for goodness sake don't you know being a Republican means you're the only one working? How can you miss the obvious logic in that?
I wonder if by work it means working hard to rip other people off? I bet that is darn hard work. Makes me tired just watching.

Rachael -
You feel/think that it's depressing and despicable that perhaps, for the first time in a young Af/Am male's life, he's excited that he's able to cast his very first ever vote, and no less, in a monumentally historical presidential election...because he said; "It's our chance to elect the first black president?"
Would you be calling it depressing and despicable if a young white female attending a university, whom perhaps for the very first time in HER life, is able to vote, no less, in a historically monumental presidential election was interviewed immediately after voting and said; "It's our chance to elect the first WOMAN vice-president?"
Please, do answer that question...
I don't think she can, Rachael, because your question just makes too much sense.
Honestly, I am tired of hearing about Obama being black. He's half/half. He only looks black. Geez, it's like saying I'm Latina because I look like one, but I'm actually from the Pacific. My name sounds Hispanic and I'm completely not. You're not going to vote for Obama because of his name? That's pathetic. I don't care if he's a Muslim- we all have a right to practice our own religion. How would you feel if you're labeled as a terrorist just because you're a Muslim?...and Rachel, who are you calling a loser? There are people out there who work their butts off everyday and still need help from the government. Not everyone has it good like you do and the money is not all going to go to welfare- there's road improvements, education, national security, etc. Yes, Obama might need more experience, but McCain had the advantage to pick a far better running mate and he picked nut job Sarah Palin. If he really thought about country first, did he think about what would happen to the country if anything ever happens to him if he becomes elected as President? It would be in the hands of someone who thinks dinosaurs and people co-existed... (Really? Is she serious?)
That's just one reason.
If I were black, I would be very excited about this election.
I wouldn't vote for him just because he's black, I would vote for him because he is the best candidate for me. Race certainly has never stopped white Republicans from actively going out and campaigning for the black vote, and it's never stopped blacks from casting their vote for a white man either.
I'm a woman, and I won't vote for a woman just because of the gender issue....I will vote for a woman if I feel she represents me....likewise, I don't have a problem voting for a man, as testament to that fact, all I've ever voted for were men.
I don't care if he's black or white when I vote for him, either...I have voted for Mr. Obama because he is the best candidate for me.
If Madeline Albreight ran...she'd have my vote in a second.
Actually if you compare their resumes you will find that both Palin and McCain are less qualified than Obama. It is interesting.
Then check voting records and you'll find that McCain voted in favor of domestic terrorists. Yep he did.
McCain's terrorism problem dates back to the early 1990s, when he sided with right-wing domestic terrorists and voted against tough new legislation cracking down on a wave of anti-choice domestic terrorism targeting women who visited abortion clinics, their doctors, and clinic staff.
In both 1993 and 1994, McCain voted against the anti-terrorism measure. On each occasion, McCain was one of thirty radical anti-choice Senators to oppose the bill Fortunately, despite McCain's opposition, it passed the Senate by a 69-30 margin.
At the time, right-wing anti-choice extremists were terrorizing women, doctors, and clinic staff across the United States with thousands of acts of physical violence and threats of violence each year.
He supported domestic terrorist. Spooky isn't it. I guess it is ok in this country according to McCain to bomb and shoot who you want as long as he gets to decide who needs bombed and shot.
I don't want this man armed with nuclear codes. He is a menace to society.
I an article written by Tim Dickinson...he joined the Replican party in 2000 to vote for McCain in the California primary, and is now a contributing editor covering National affairs for Rolling Stone magazine......holy s*#t!!! Trust me, you gotta read this.
Go to rollingstone.com/issue1063
I just read an article....meant to say. I'm operating on minimal sleep. Tile kills.
To Greg: FDR was the president that created the IRS. It was only supposed to be for a little while. Seems to me taxes have gotten out of hand. But I feel if any special interest group wants special favors....then let them pay a "Special Tax", just for them. Another thing the Dem's have let out of the bag, is Gay Rights. Do you know how much this nation has paid out the yeng yang for them??? 300 Billion & counting. It's just going to get worse. Do you know that Gay Rights is what put Athen,s Sparta, & Rome out of business. We are headed that way to.
Great article Pam. Thanks for the post.
Gay rights ruined Athens and Rome? Why wasn't that in my history books?
Damn that no child left behind!!
ROTFPMPLMAO!
This world gets scarier by the minute doesn't it? LOL
gay rights......i seem to remember something in our sacred Constitution about equal rights for all..... ALL
if i needed more reasons not to vote McCain / Palin their platform of perverting and subverting our constitution to withhold rights from some Americans would do it for me
the entire purpose of our constitution is to confer and protect rights
if we subvert and pervert our constitution and use it as a vehicle to withhold rights we are sunk!!!! absolutely sunk!!!
our freedom is in our constitution and only there
gay rights are no threat to us -- but that is not the point -- the point is equal rights for all means ALL
McCain / Palin supporters scare me very deeply - you do not appreciate how very fragile and precious freedom is
i am voting for our constitution and voting for freedom
OBAMA / BIDEN '08
above someone says the media thrust Obama into the nomination
wrong the people did
the media are not sending the campaign every $5, $10 & $20 they can reasonably spare
millions and millions -- myself included -- of people are!
Obama is the people's candidate -- the middle class candidate
i remember the entire thing unfolding
the media were reporting what they were witnessing is all they did
the media was as surprised and awed as i was
the mieda were reporting surprisingly large crowds turning out
hundreds then thousands standing in the rain just to see Obama and maybe get to hear a few words
Obama was shocked, the media were shocked
and previously despairing middle class people such as myself were galvanized into hope and into action
OBAMA represents hope to a long-hopeless-and-sinking middle class in America
Obama represents uor possible resurrection in the global community
that is why over 100,000 people stood outside just last saturday to hear him speak
this man's destiny is to begin the healing and repair of our great nation
OBAMA / BIDEN '08
retired to Florida,
i think you just said it..
They want to Elect a man just because he is black........
thats a pretty poor reason to elect someone
Geeze, the kid didn't say he was voting for him because he was black, he said, "Hope to elect the first black president of the United States.” I hope to be electing the first black president of the United States, too, but I'm not voting for him because he 's black, I'm voting for him because he is for the middle class. And McCain is an old man who is losing his mind, i.e., Sarah Palin.
Whitebird .. shouldnt you be in school Teaching .....
Is whitebird's intelligence getting in your way?
Please dont confuse Ignorance with intellingence..
I sincerely doubt I am confused. whitebird had a perfect understanding of the article and stated as much. You came up with your own .. opinion. The truth is not ignorance. Reading comprehension is a perfect sign of intelligence. Unfounded biased opions are.. . without substance.
It's spelled intelligence, Steve, something that you are devoid of. And Steve, shouldn't you be at work, working, or are you one of those Wall Street types that doesn't have to work because you've made your millions off my investments? Thanks you Eris, for watching my back. It's a shame there always has to be some slime ball on here spewing hatred.
Dian Larkin
I was the someone who said Ohmama was thrust into the nomination by the media.
You go on to say that is false.
Your reasoning only confirms what I said and obviously their tactic worked to some extent.
You're welcome to blindly follow the yellow-brick road all the way to Oz.
But excuse me if I don't fall for the story-book ending the democrats conjured up, as a way to fool the weak.
This is reality, not some choreographed, off-off- off-Broadway play.
Although it does resemble a little thing called the "Pied Piper", except the rodents would be replaced with democ-rats.
you are excused clint
In July 1862, during the Civil War, President Lincoln and Congress created the office of Commissioner of Internal Revenue and enacted an income tax to pay war expenses (see Revenue Act of 1862). The position of Commissioner exists today as the head of the Internal Revenue Service.
FDR never had anything to with the IRS, and Athens was destroyed by Sparta, Sparta's decline can be linked to their stringant military traditions that overtaxed their population, and Rome suffered from centuries of incompetent leadership forced upon them by their order of succession, and an over sized empire. One thing i couldnt find is how much gay rights has supposedly cost us, but to think it cost 300 billion is just plain dumb. I am surprised whitebird didnt school you since she/he is the actual teacher here.
Thank you for your blessing Dian.
At a loss for words huh?
If you only had a brain scarecrow!
"YYYOOOUUU'''RRREEE OFF TO SEE THE WIZARD, THE WONDERFUL WIZARD OF OZ"

I think voting early by mail is a good idea.
It is so convenient.
It saves time and money for my family.
I hope I don't find myself feeling ripped off again after all the states report tallies from the election.
It is sad to think our U.S.A. allows corruption from the greedy...
voteing early by mail.....now what planet does that come from, there is no fair vote by mail on either side.....gee, lookie ACORN! that was a real winner!
Careful...the ACORN axe cuts both ways....or didn't you know about McCains support of ACORN?
It is legal where I live in Phoenix.
I don't know where you are from, but all you have to do is call or e-mail your party or your Secretary Of State for your voting options.
Here is a link to my SOS http://www.azsos.gov/election/VoterInformation.htm .
You sound as if you are grasping at straws trying to point out blame for something most of us have nothing to do with. (ACORN)
I found my method on my own and it suits my needs.
I have broken no laws.
- McCain's appeared at a 2006 ACORN rally.
- Gov. Rick Perry of Texas signing an ACORN-sponsored lending reform law in 2005.
- Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger of California signing an ACORN-sponsored bill in July of this year.
- Gov. Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota signing an ACORN-sponsored bill in June 2007.
- Gov. Charlie Crist of Florida partnering with ACORN in March of this year for a "Homeownership Promotes The Economy" taskforce.
- Sen. Joe Lieberman meeting with an ACORN Katrina Survivors Association in February 2006.
AND WHO is pals with terrorist, why John McCain's transitional team leader:
William Timmons, the Washington lobbyist who John McCain has named to head his presidential transition team, aided an influence effort on behalf of Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein to ease international sanctions against his regime.
The two lobbyists who Timmons worked closely with over a five year period on the lobbying campaign later either pleaded guilty to or were convicted of federal criminal charges that they had acted as unregistered agents of Saddam Hussein's government.
Exactly, Kezz... my husband will be out of the country on election day and received his voter's packet by mail and had to send it back by mail. I didn't feel really good about that type of voting method either.
southpaw,Very big stretch. McCain spoke at an event where ACORN was one of the groups being honored but never mentioned them specifically. Several governors that signed bills that had ACORN's name mixed in amongst the many sponsors and an employee had a friend of a friend knew a guy. Real damning evidence you got there.
You left out McCain's connections with the KLA.
“He did everything that we asked of him, including arming the KLA”, said Albanian lobbyist Joe DioGuardi. The Albanians collected one million dollars for the presidential campaign of this senator.
Americans of Albanian heritage collected a million dollars in one evening for the presidential campaign of Republican Senator John McCain.
KLA members, however, continued Spencer, were trained in al-Qaida camps.
"There is little doubt that there are powerful elements in Kosovo who are Islamic supremacist and pro-Sharia (Islamic law)," he said. "They will do all they can to turn Kosovo into a jihadist camp in the heart of Europe."
thanks but the racist who post their bs here can not understand this because it is not enough to read you must be able to understand what you have read and then process the information as it relates to the issue. their issue to the same as always fear but the fear is a tool. once their eyes are opened and they start to understand the reasons why they have no hope they will be able to change and become apart of the move for change. but not until they leave behind what the rest of us know, hire the best man for the job, get behind him and learn that we have to change this way of government that the republicans have been using for more wealth for the next 10 generations. we have a chance here to do what has made of a respected country around the world and now is the time to show all the people that we are an enlighten nation.
clatech... no they have not... i'm a 5-TV person watching or taping all media + large and small print publishers throughout this election and msnbc (at every suggestion of such) clearly brings out the possible 'success-map' for McCain and suggests what McCain has to do.
Tony... nope! Not as racial as when Americans of Slave Descent had to "Count the beans in a Jar" and still be refused a ballot.
Bon,,, Kudos to you, while asking, "How many voters know that McCain has created a New Tax on their benefits package?" i really wish this generation would read the fine print in both plans.
Sociopathos- Some vote early just because it is more convenient to their own schedule...simple as that...
On-Topic: my truth would say, "it matters not." my feelings would say, "yeah, better vote early before the oposition starts stealing those bad electronic votes."
The Political Campaign Organizations want early voting -just in case bin Laden sends another "Scare-Tape" and makes voters think the best way is to stay in Iraq forever.
Hey LISTEN UP!!
I've always said Democrats are all looking for handouts!! Only this time, there's no money left to give out!!! HA!!!
Hard as they might try, ACORN and the other Democratic workers trying to register fictitious voters won't stop the McCain team from winning this election!!
New AP Poll released yesterday shows a DEAD HEAT!!
McCain/Palin 2008!!
it's funny how people always point to polls to prove their point -- almost like the Bible!
pilgrim 101,
You Dems are always citing the skewed liberal polls of Gallup, NYT, MSNBC, ABC, NBC, etc.!! Just maybe, some concerned citizens might like to know of a poll that has a different slant!!
I hardly expect you'd agree!! HA!!
McCain/Palin 2008!!!
Bill
You might have had a point, but Zogby and Rassmussen (two very conservative pollsters) have Obama leading by a WIDE margin.
That's just to make the election more interesting and for everyone to watch the news so they can get high ratings. Well it doesn't matter. I voted early anyway.
Obama/Biden
Check out these results of The Army Times' poll of Military
personnel re: the election (in percentage):

McCain/Palin 2008!!
You know it's funny, but my husband, a Vietnam vet, doesn't even allow McCain's name to be said in the house. He was serving in Vietnam during the time McCain crashed his plane and became a POW. He and everyone else over there knew that McCain gave the North Vietnamense information that led to American deaths. But thanks to them not killing McCain, McCain's father had everything covered up. My husband says this was common knowledge at the time. He calls McCain a traitor, and neither he nor his vet buddies will be voting for McCain.
thank you for that important information whitebird
which makes McCain's shameless milking of his own horonable (or not so honorable)sevice evern more shameful!
i venerate all vets and thank youf husband for serving! i often wonder if McCain's endless playing his vet card bothers them at all?
Whitebird,
I'm also a Vietnam Era Vet. Your husband has been misinformed. Scuttlebutt is notoriously inaccurate!!
My point is I have much more respect for the poll cvonducted by The Army Times than I do for the likes of the left liberal media/press and their polls!!
McCain served honorably!! Obama avoided military service.
McCain/Palin 2008
They are missing the whole point of this story...Dems are voting early because they are focusing extremely hard on their ground game. Church leaders and community organizers are driving POOR people and the elderly to the polls. As a republican this is disturbing and depressing to me. I do not want poor indigent and 'uneducated on the issues college kids' voting or even having a voice. PLEASE PRAY that the Conservatives in this country realize this and 'VOTE NOPE'
Are you saying that you don't believe that all eligible voters should be allowed to vote?
I think what he is getting at is that people should do their homework and make an informed decision on who they are voting for.... instead of simply checking a name because that is the one they have seen on television the most. Let's not pick apart words. I think you know what he means.
Steven
Do you really think that McCain supporters are all rich and educated? Have you taken a look at the map? The red states are states like Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi, etc. Let's just say they're not the states where literacy reigns supreme. It's the Repubs that count on the idiot vote.
Obama '08
Like all the republicans that still think Obama is not a citizen of the United States? LMAO
Or the ones that think John McCain is a maverick? The maverick that voted with Bush over and over again? lmao
The maverick that copied Obama's campaign slogan then changed it because no one believes he is about change. Even funnier he thinks anyone will believe he is "Country First" after that failed campaign stunt. LOL
Or the ones that call Obama a socialist but overlook the fact that Palin is a big fat socialist?
Yeah people do your homework.
Ignorant people should not be allowed to VOTE!
And just how do you get to decide who among the poor and elderly and young are uneducated? Can you tell just by looking? ... Incredible and unbelievable
Not all Mississippi is for McCain. Myself and many others folks will be voting for Obama. And there are about as many Obama signs as McCain signs in my small northern Mississippi town. But you will find many of the rednecks and wealthy are voting for McCain, while middle class, young, and educated are going for Obama. And unfortunately a lot of people will not vote for Obama because of race. It's their loss, however, they are the ones who will gain under Obama and lose even more with McCain.
All they're doing is driving them there. They are not in the booth with them. The people will make their won decision to who ever they think is right.
Well if Republicans were so concerned they'd get out and do the same thing. But god forbid they have to get near the yucky poor people. They'd rather intimidate them after they get to the polls.
Steven H-664277 said:

HUH? You don't want "poor indigent and uneducated on the issues college kids' " AMERICAN CITIZENS who have a CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT to a VOICE/VOTE on any election or AGENDA set before them, within their state and district?
American's opinions just don't get much lower and uglier than your's...
if you were for educated leaders and education steve you would be voting Obama
and what is your problem with the poor and the elderly voting? how un-American is that
i have to say in my wildest i could not imagine even seeing such a post as this one i have to go back to it humor me please
Church leaders and community organizers are driving POOR people and the elderly to the polls. As a republican this is disturbing and depressing to me. I do not want poor indigent and 'uneducated on the issues college kids' voting or even having a voice.
disturbing and depressing to you that all Americans get a vote and have a voice
disturbing and depressing there are those actual real Christians who will help them do that....
college kids get no vote in "your world" (to take one of 6-Pack's lines, as she apparently lives in her own world -- and reports it as "in my world" and the evidence is sure piling up that she does in fact live in her a world of her own making - too bad she's being investigated on several counts b.c of it)
POOR people get no vote in your world
elderly people get no vote in your world? after Palin gets in to "control" the Senate you can request legislation to have all our elderly taken to alsaka and dumped in the tundra to die
this is fascism pure and simple and scary
no wonder you are voting for the neo-Nazi candidates McCain / Palin
VOTE FOR FREEDOM VOTE FOR AMERICA
OBAMA / BIDEN '08
and if people were voting simply for the person whose name they see and hear most on TV that would be McCain / Palin
every single time i turn on ANY station it's all McCain / Palin all the time endlessly
I find THAT disturbing and depressing
and yet Obama is still the people's choice
OBAMA / BIDEN '08
I guess if Steven had his way these old people and poor people would just be left to die somewhere. No matter that the old people worked hard all their lives and now have nothing to show for it because their big companies left them out in the cold and the poor people are poor because big companies moved out of the country to avoid paying fair wages and providing insurance to their workers. I am personally sick of everyone being so enamoured with big business. As far as I can think back, big business has screwed the American worker, and now they are screwing America. Capitalist, my foot, they are capitalizing monsters.
Interesting that they have Oregon shown as no voting early. We all vote by mail here so my ballot has already been sent in, as have those of thousands of others. Or you can wait and send it in the last day or drop it by the county. No issues with fraud, no hassles with polling places. It is a great alternative to all this voter suppression garbage that is going on. Give the Oregon system a try. Oh and one more thing on Acorn issue. Were Elmer Fudd and Tony Romo going to show up in those areas to vote??? NO. ACORN actually pointed those names out to the states when they turned them in, as required. That is different than the Republican operatives who told folks they were registering democrat and then turned them in as Republicans.
Steven sounds like a commie to me.

score keeper, way ahead of you buddy. I've already forwarded it to the Secret Service.www.ustreas.gov/usss/Kezzerdrix, your off to prison buddy.
Thank you, Southpaw Liberal.
But really, there should be some sort of moderation here. Free speech is one thing, but these kinds of comments have never been protected
Boy! You guys are scarry!
Are you shaking in your boots yet Kezzerdrix?
Does the phrase " Mamby Pamby" mean anything to you guys?
Pathetic!
Sent it to the FBI as well
Score Keeper... send it to the new moderator of Newsvine - it will be read much quicker!
(system hanging up for me in a big way, so sent you an email with the same info, also)
Score keeper: So you want to take away Kezzerdrix's freedom of speech and report it to the FBI. What are you reporting? He didn't threaten Barack Obama. The FBI and Secret Service will be laughing at your report.
I guess freedom of speech only works one way, huh? Your way!
He sounds like a nut case to me. Look at his rhetoric, it's that of a mad man! And if he didn't directly threaten Obama, he was inciting at least. I myself turned him in for inflammatory remarks. If enough do, he'll be thrown off the forum.
What we need is government owned radio and television.
That way we won't have to think for ourselves.
We'll be told when and what to say, and we can model the media like Al-jazeera.
Death to anyone who doesn't conform.......................Kezzedrix!
Obama/Biden 1908!
I could not believe what I was reading. these(kids) voted. they want to see the first black president? I am a black woman. and as much as I would love to see THE FIRST black president. I have to put aside my personal feelings. I have to choose the right president. I have to know I have chosen someone that I know will not back down from terrorist. I want to know I am safe in the country I live in. I want to know that my business will be here 4 years from now. I worked and still do for what I have. I have a very good business. because I worked for what I have. I'm suppose to feel sorry for others and share my wealth? hell no!
Obama went to harvard only because it was handed to him. he did not have to pay. he actually makes me ashamed of being black, people like him will continue to give the blacks the stereo type name. always taken but never work for what you should have. so many blacks hate whites for what the whites have. but did you stop and actually use your head. they worked and still work for what they have. stop sitting there feeling sorry for yourself and stop always looking for hand outs. my parents worked their butt off for what little they had. but they were always proud because they did it just like any white person did. they worked for it. they may not have been white, but they know they were just as good, because they were hard workers like a white man!
IF others want what I have, then go and work for it. I don't care what color you claim to be. we black people have fault a little harder to get where we care today. but I'll be damned, If the first black president (Obama) make a laughing stock of the blacks.
so people, if you really care about your country you should not be so greedy and just pick obama because he is black!
my vote will go to McCain, at least I know I will have a president who will actually work for my country!
Trish, all I can say is God Bless you ... you get it, YOU REALLY GET IT!
The principles upon which you are making your decision to vote for the next President are the same principles that I apply as well. And they are the same principles that I spent 21 years of my life serving my country, to protect and preserve freedom for others so they may have the same choices I had as a poor boy growing up in Alabama.
The fact that some choose different principles is their right ... a right that I have served to protect. I only wish their eyes were open a little more.
Thank you for your post. I enjoyed reading every word of it.
Trish, first you are kidding, right? And second, there is no way you could be black and say that about Obama. Obama worked very hard all his life to get what he has today. He could have gone to work at some high paying law firm, but he chose to work for the little people were he could really make a difference. What have you done to help anyone other than yourself?
And Obama was still paying his college loans off just several years ago. And the only one who says they will go after bin Laden is OBAMA.....hello!!! McCain said he'd stay in Iraq for 100 years. Obama says he will go after Obama and kill him! McCain has been in the Senate the last 26 years, why didn't he go after bin Laden any of the last 7?
And the only people who make a laughing stock of black are people like you who support a man who didn't even want to make Martin Luther King Day a national holiday, who can barely stand to look at a black person, who encourages hatred during his rallies, and is a demented old man. No, no, no to McCain. And I am a Southern white woman.
I just voted McCAIN/PALIN and so proud of it -- YOU'RE WELCOME AMERICA!
Thank god for early voting.
Hey Kezzer, can you imagine the up roar if 95% of white America voted for McCain/Palin. The New York Times, Washington Post, LA Times all would be screaming racist, 95% of blacks pick Obama and they say its great turn out, a wonderful time to be an American!!!!
Many blacks voted for Clinton, Gore and Kerry...and back then they also said it was a great turn out..so whats your point? When blacks vote for a white person its ok but when they vote for a black person, THEY are racists? Geez you people !!!!
Hey genius, what percent of white voters voted for a white candidate since the country's first election?
What percent of black voters voted for a black candidate since the country's first election?
What percent of white voters voted for a black candidate since the country's first election?
What percent of black voters voted for a white candidate since the country's first election?
Do you have the answers or are you making a point? I'm a little confused.
If you don't see her point, you must be a Republican.
Well, now.. THAT is another intellectual, democratic remark.
I was curious about those percentages, actually.
Maybe you have them.. I can tell by your posts this morning that you are a person of high, high intelligence.
So intelligent, in fact, I bet you can smell the sarcasm dripping in this post.
Now.. about those percentages....
Sarcasm, cynicism, divisiveness, negativity, pettiness, glass is half-empty, I got mine screw the rest world view? Yep, I can smell it. For almost eight years now. Time to air this country out.
Kari,
I'll assume you were talking to me and respond. Those numbers you were asking about? Yeah, if I grew up black in America, having endured segregation, Jim Crow, and generally a buttload of racism, I might be inclined to vote for just about anyone that appears to look like me. I might have a better chance of not getting the shaft in every aspect of my life with a black president.
Unfortunately for the Repubs, Obama is not only black (half black actually, which doesn't make you popular with some black folks), he's intelligent, has surrounded himself with a bevy of excellent advisors, and has a strong message that resonates with Americans of every color. I see nothing wrong with black people voting for "their guy" given what black people have been through. But I'm not black and I'll be voting Obama because he's the right man for the job...and because the other guy sucks.
Obama '08!
Hey Mr. Dickerson,
That name suits you.
something new please....
An awful lot of White voters had to vote for an Awful lot of Black candidates because if they hadnt.. all the Black people in Congress and the Senate would never have been elected..... so.. what is your point
Or Black or non-white governors like the governor of Louisiana!
greg-23 you are right...it's time to get rid of GOP (Greedy Olde Party) selfishness and paranoia.
McCain is 8 years too late. Perhaps if he was elected in 2000,things would've turned out for the better, especially in foreign affairs. But, he got screwed by that pink embryonic rat Karl Rove, who ought to be smeared with honey and staked to a fire ant mound.
I've heard plenty of women say they would vote for almost any woman (except NOT Palin obviously) and no one starts screaming labels or slurs at them
we've been voting for old white men since the beginning of the nation and it has not done us much good
i'm white and thrilled to be voting for Obama b/c of who he is and what he represents
it is a special bonus in my mind that he is black as maybe things will begin to even out a bit with his election not in terms of HAND OUTS but in perception and misperceptions
-- i would like Martin Luther's dream to come truw -- that some day all men will be judged not by the color of their skin but by the content of their character
i love that and live by it -- character matters -- Palin & McCain do not have any -- Obama has character AND brilliance AND education -- McCain / Palin are lacking those as well
there is no one running who is better qualified than Obama
it's been said before but bears repeating
I'll take my chances with the Harvard constitutional law professor thanks
OBAMA / BIDEN '08
Sad day in a country's history when those we choose not to single out as different pull the "card" and wave it in our face when out of 305 Million Americans the Democrats could only come up with a guy with no experience. Rome lasted 2000 years. I had hopes generations for humdreds of years would enjoy a novel idea like the United States. The President has nothing to do with Wall Street so quit crying about the economy. It's the rest of the world that you need to be concerned about. Never once has this country ever looked weak in the eyes of the world. Elect a black man with a great smile and no experience and you ruin 228 years of hard work and freedom. I'm just glad McCain was never a dope head.
Jack,
All you see is a black man. I'm getting so and tire of you dumb$%^s putting a label on others. With all that experience McCain supposedly has, his raisin brain should have been a part of the solution to help fix the mess that we're in, except he was part of the problem. He never went to college and graduated 4th or 5th to last in his military acadamy. Obama is very intellegent with multiple degrees and experience to help others help themselves and redevelop communities. I don't care if McCain served time in the military. That don't mean squat in this upcoming election. I've been in the military for 19 years (as a reservist) and is proud to say that I'm in for a manditory 6 more. I love serving my country, but not people like you who live in it that want to corrupt it.
rozdez,
So The Naval Academy is not college to you? I seriously doubt that McCain who is a Naval Aviator fighter pilot is a "raisen brain" (you meant raisen right, not raisin). Can you land a fighter aircraft on a aircraft carrier rozdez? No I didn't think so. I'm surprised that you have been in the Military Reserves for 19 years and wasn't aware of this. Can you match up to his career, otherwise, it "don't mean squat."
McCain didn't just serve time in the military; he was in combat, was a POW, he has leadership skills, and is a better candidate to lead this nation in time of National crisis, particularly if our National Security is threatened. Obama can have all the degrees he wants, but let me share with you something Calvin Coolidge said years ago:
NOTHING IN THE WORLD WILL TAKE THE PLACE OF PERSISTENCE.
Talent will not; nothing is more common that the unsuccessful
person with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost
a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated
derelicts. Persistence and determination
alone are omnipotent. The slogan "press
on" has solved and always will solve the
problems of the human race.
- Calvin Collidge
You can try to blame McCain all you want for the current crisis we are in. You really should read the facts. While McCain and others were calling for controls on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mack, which was the culprit that brought on this crisis. Democrats like Barney Franks, Chris Dodd, and others were saying "everything is okay" at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. One congressional video tape shows a Democratic Congressman and Congresswoman saying "it ain"t broke, so we don't need to fix it" while chastising the official who was warning them of impending disaster. Check out the facts, you can find them. You're a smart guy I'm sure.
And by the way, thank you for serving our country.
A Vietnam Veteran
thank you rozdez for both your service and for your post
Look at some of the historical data on how many people vote in the USA. An average of about 40% of those that are, by law, able to vote. Now, because Americans are getting hit in their back pocket, finding out more about the true corruption in gov't, and knowing that only the citizens can make the change they need to improve their life, they are voting. Early, absentee, Nov. 4, or however else they can.
I think everyone, before they post a crappy remark, should do some research on the truths about what they are posting. Not what the press say, but what the facts say.
Also, read the fine print on ALL polls. They use some 800 people and use their results to say this is what the entire US say. Example: How many polls are taken in Harlem? Neighborhoods in LA? Hamptons? Bel Aire? Polls are kind of crappy, but that is all the media has to use to judge the election. So they run with it.
Also, just because there are some "registered voters" whom are not real people doesn't mean they will show up at the polls. Remeber, proper ID is needed to vote. Having an ID that says Mickey Mouse with a picture of a duck might not get you to the poll.
Thank God for good old fashioned Chicago Democratic Machine Politics.
Vote Early and Often!!
Remember, thanks to changes in voter registration laws you can now register and vote in multiple locations and in multiple states!!
Just vote a "provisional" ballot in as many locations as you wish!
This is our chance to correct the past voting injustices!
The media has anointed the chosen ones in every state and local election as well as at the federal level, so don't forget that they know best!
I know, I should shut up and just drink the koolaid...
Bobw.
funny.. very Funny....
dont bogart that koolaid
Sounds like you know what you are talking about. Is this something you did in you past twisted life?
So riddle me this Batman: Does voting early prevent the Dems from crying "Recount" later on? There's got to be hanging chad hiding somewhere out there.
