A Republican congressman from Georgia said Monday he fears that President-elect Obama will establish a Gestapo-like security force to impose a Marxist dictatorship.
"It may sound a bit crazy and off base, but the thing is, he's the one who proposed this national security force," Rep. Paul Broun said of Obama in an interview Monday with The Associated Press. "I'm just trying to bring attention to the fact that we may — may not, I hope not — but we may have a problem with that type of philosophy of radical socialism or Marxism."
Broun cited a July speech by Obama that has circulated on the Internet in which the then-Democratic presidential candidate called for a civilian force to take some of the national security burden off the military.
"That's exactly what Hitler did in Nazi Germany and it's exactly what the Soviet Union did," Broun said. "When he's proposing to have a national security force that's answering to him, that is as strong as the U.S. military, he's showing me signs of being Marxist."
Obama's comments about a national security force came during a speech in Colorado in which he called for expanding the nation's foreign service.
"We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we've set," Obama said in July. "We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded."
The Obama transition team declined to comment on Broun's remarks. But spokesman Tommy Vietor said Obama was referring in the speech to a proposal for a civilian reserve corps that could handle postwar reconstruction efforts such as rebuilding infrastructure — an idea endorsed by the Bush administration.
Broun said he believes Obama would move to ban gun ownership if he does build a national security force.
Obama has said he respects the Second Amendment right to bear arms and favors "common sense" gun laws. Gun rights advocates interpret that as meaning he'll at least enact curbs on ownership of assault weapons and concealed weapons. As an Illinois state lawmaker, Obama supported a ban on semiautomatic weapons and tighter restrictions on firearms generally.
"We can't be lulled into complacency," Broun said. "You have to remember that Adolf Hitler was elected in a democratic Germany. I'm not comparing him to Adolf Hitler. What I'm saying is there is the potential of going down that road."

Sam:
Hasn't happened for 180 years, why would they stop now?
A Republican congressman from Georgia said Monday he fears that President-elect Obama will establish a Gestapo-like security force to impose a Marxist dictatorship.
Alright, I'm convinced these people have completely lost their marbles. I bet he's building a nuclear bomb shelter complete with spam, peanut butter and powdered milk...he he he he he he
What's really funny is that the country overwhelmingly elected Obama who has been defined by Republicans as "ultra liberal" and "the most liberal senator in the senate."
We can conlude then that people in America overwhelmingy support "ultra liberal".
I love the dramatic labels from the repubs , "radical" , "ultra liberal" LOL!!!
"That's exactly what Hitler did in Nazi Germany and it's exactly what the Soviet Union did," Broun said. "When he's proposing to have a national security force that's answering to him, that is as strong as the U.S. military, he's showing me signs of being Marxist."
Is this joker for real? Are they trying to get Obama assassinated before he even takes office, because that is what it's starting to look like when they openly compare him to Hitler and Marx to the scared, racist, irrational and insecure.
If we're going to discuss dictatorships, let's start with the Bush/Cheney/Rove trifecta of idiocy and corruption. I remember my rights disappearing on THEIR watch
*patriot act enters stage right*
Good to see you, girlfriend. Always glad you got my back! You're like a trusty sidekick! Or am I the sidekick? LOL Either way, this GOP puppet is embarassing himself and most likely pissing off President Obama... I'll never get tired of saying that, it sounds sooo good!
Hey Lo...
Let's say it together....
Prezzzzz--i-Dent Obaaaaamaaaa
That silly Georgian GOP is just lashing out because of his deep embarassment of losing to a man of such caliber. I am just glad that the majority of Americans didn't fall for the slanderous lies that were being spread around by the Republican party.
Is this a sister article to the earlier "Palin haters show a special kind of gullibility"? Yeah.... and if you believed that 'Hurry! Read this! - - - Sheesh, What political shenanigans. The guy isn't even in office.
This man needs a visit from the secret service about enticing the public to kill our president elect will not be tolerated.
Why am I not surprised that this utter nonsense is coming from the south?
this is mere desperation, frustration and jelousiness . This repulican should be prosecuted for plannin and indulging to kill president elect Obama .
He is a straight out fool from the south.
To bad he skipped history class for a KKK outing on that day.
Hitler was not elected but appointed. He only garnered like 31% of the vote if that and forced Hindenburg to appoint him Chancellor. Stupid is as stupid does.
You elected Obama, not us!
How fortunate for you we did elect him.
Who knows what McCain and the Alaskan Lightening Rod would have done, probably steal your clothing and shoes.
I agree we need to stop electing idiots, is it to late to turn over the desicion made November 4th? We need to get that idiot out of there.
One of the things we were thankful for in moving to Nebraska is leaving
Dorothy Pelote (who had a saeance with Chandra Levy's "spirit" on the floor of of the GA statehouse in 2001)
Cynthia (remember the bit with the Capital police a few years ago) McKinney,
Zig Zag and Frag(2004 RNC convention) Zell Miller,
Sonny"(lets have a flag referendum...again) Perdue,
Mad Max Burns and ole Zaxby(yeah.. Sonny's right on that thar flag) Chambliss
and ofc Newt (I got busted serving my 1st wife with divorce papers while she was hospitalized with cancer so I could marry my secretary who is now my 2nd of 3 total ex- Mrs Gingrichs who weren't in attendence when "Newt" was named Mr Family values by the Focus on the Family and the apostle James Dobson last year) Gingrich
waaaay behind.....
We need to get that idiot out of there.
Don't worry, come January 20th, the idiot will return to his village in TX
It sounds to me more like inner perspectives coming in to haunt him. By this, I mean that the concerns of African Americans (particularly in the South) are real. Now that their is a person in power who may have an influence on changing that, there is a bit of fear of being treated the way he has treated others. I think a lot of what we hear is about that "turn about is fair play" fear. President-Elect Obama is not that kind of man in my opinion. I think he will try to serve based on what is fair to ALL and not just a few. So, if having folks (of any color) have an equal opportunity for success bothers you, then you will not like him. If you don't care what they look like if they have the skills, then you will find him to be a great President. He has benefited like no other from living in the world of Whites and Blacks. I don't know too many that fit that category. Yes some may have a parent from each culture, but very few Blacks have been raised in a White culture. It is a unique position and if we welcome it, we will most likely find he will govern us all as Americans instead of specific colors.
Jen,
Does that mean we can get rid of affirmative action and we can finally judge people based on the content of their brain not the color of their skin or origin?????? I think it's kind of funny because Obama ran on being African American when that is the smallest percentage of his racial make-up.
Also, for comment #1.2 he didn't win an overwhelming majority of the votes. He won a major percentage of the electoral college, a big difference.
LIAMD,
I think it would be great to be rid of affirmative action, but it would require people allowing folks equal opportunity. As I understand it, African Americans are not the only ones who benefit from Affirmative Action. The act is not race based-it includes gender too.
...we can finally judge people based on the content of their brain not the color of their skin or origin??????
I think this is where you and I would differ. I believe Affirmative Action began because there was not that equality to race and gender. It seems when left to our own devices, only a selected group benefits overwhelmingly and others are deemed inferior as the excuse to discriminate. Yet, I honestly have never heard of a single person who was given an opportunity based on Affirmative Action proving the assistance did not benefit the person involved to showcase what they were capable of. It says a great deal about us that we are not wanting to explore why we need Affirmative Action in the first place.
I hear that African Americans are lazy and not very smart, but that flies in the face of history when they were the backbone/labor force of this country and the inventions by African Americans who did not have the White man's education proves their abilities to be equal to, if not at times, superior is a reality. The same is true for woman who were controlled by men and having to go as far as prostituting themselves in order to have an opportunity without equal pay! We have yet to reconcile that as well, yet some would whine that folks should work harder. If you work hard and are still cheated, you become angry and that is what has happened here.
I would love us not to need Affirmative Action, but until we decide to allow folks rights based on ability and not skin or gender, there has got to be some kind of law to stop this practice! If you think I am too dramatic, here is a story I have shared before from a friend who teaches in the south. Her school has one black teacher by choice of the principal. All the cafeteria and maintenance staff are black. The school is 50% Black and though several of these (Black) students have tested high achievers/gifted, the Principal says "never in her school", so they are placed in remedial classes and average White kids ( mostly from her church) are place in high achievement classes. That is the reality of how unfair we are to date! When these kids/adults are judged by their ability and not skin, ask me if Affirmative Action should stop and I will say, absolutely. Until then...
"He's showing me signs of being Marxist.""... and Mr. Broun you are showing signs of being the lost "Marxist" Brother!
Chico, Harpo, Groucho, Gummo, Zeppo and....you sir, Dummo!
Jen,
I understand your point of view and I am not saying it is wrong, but isn't it equally wrong to tell the white kid he can't attend the school he is qualified to be in because the racial quotas have not been meet or be interviewed for a job because the company needs more minorities to keep the ACLU off their back.
Did affirmative action have a place, yes, but IMO it's time has passed.
There will always be those who will discriminate and hate, no law will ever stop that. But using a law to counter that which purposely creates animosity and distrust of one's abilities based on skin color and/or racial makeup is equally as bad.
LIAMD,
I hear you and I wish I could say I have the prefect solution. I wish we could expand the school so all who qualify could attend without conflict, quite frankly. ANother story that is personal (and I have told it before):
In college a black friend who made the same grades I did and had done an extra project got a B from the class where I got an A. She knew without me telling her (ever) what happened and I knew she was right. This White teacher was not going to give her the grade she earned. No we can never make up for it, but because I know from personal experiences that these folks were not lazy or dumb but intentionally held back, it's more difficult for me to say it should end. I know you did not say this, but you do know Obama was not an Affirmative Action student, right?
It's not a perfect world, but I do think it is unfair to call someone inferior when the reason is they were never allow to succeed. I really wish we did not need this rule, but as White America really have been horrific to African American in history, I think it is a small price to pay. We hate what happen to the Jews and we tell the African American "enough already". Something just doesn't seem right to me.
We hate what happen to the Jews and we tell the African American "enough already". Something just doesn't seem right to me.
These are unrelated topics. The Jews were targeted for extinction not exploitation.
I don't believe you and I think all that differently in regards to this topic. We just disagree on what the governments role in it is.
I did not use this as a statement of equality, but as how we are willing to look at abuse differently depending on who is involved. It saddens me that you missed the broader picture here. You see, I don't think the Blacks who were hanged, bombed, burned, had limbs cut off, raped, cooked, cleaned, raised White children, worked the fields, and were held captive for generations would see the difference of being oppressed. We all are sadden by what happened to the Jews, but we tell the Blacks to get over it. We call them lazy. We say they only want a hand out. We say the are inferior. This should not be. If all men are created equal, all men should be given same access and I know for a fact this is not what happens. We do agree on some issues, but I don't know of any improvements for Blacks that came without government interventions.
...we tell the Blacks to get over it. We call them lazy.
By "we" are you referring to Democrats?
WASHINGTON - Deep-seated racial misgivings could cost Barack Obama the White House if the election is close, according to an AP-Yahoo News poll that found one-third of white Democrats harbor negative views toward blacks - many calling them "lazy," "violent" or responsible for their own troubles.
The poll, conducted with Stanford University, suggests that the percentage of voters who may turn away from Obama because of his race could easily be larger than the final difference between the candidates in 2004 - about two and one-half percentage points.
One-third of polled white Democrats harbor negative views toward blacks
I am not sure I understand your point. You found an article about Democrats having negative feelings about toward Blacks? I agree! I think these attitudes are not partisan. Hate does not have a Party. Folks hate because they hate. I don't dispute your findings or am surprised just as I would not be if it was about another party. So forgive me if you were making a point because I think hatred is very prevalent in America and this election is I hope the start of honest discussions. I have been having them with my friends/colleagues and it has allowed me a deeper appreciation than I ever knew possible.
Jen,
I understand your point I just don;t agree with you. It seems you might be suffering from White Guilt. Yes, no rational person denies what happened to slaves in this country was horrible by our standards. But, when can we get past it, another 150 years, what????
There are no slaves or slave owners alive today only people who were related to them. And I don't agree that only the government improved things for the black community, I for one volunteer a lot of my time to inner city kids and I can tell you for a fact many of their relatives at first resented my presence but now love the fact that I want to be involved. If anything, I could argue the government has contributed to the problems of racism by instilling equality policies. Aside from civil rights legislation most other gov't interference has been just that interference. As I quoted on another post "liberalism always results in the exact opposite of its stated intent".
LIAMD - your post 1.27 hit the nail on the head. We as people need to get past what happened happened long ago. We don't need liberalism (even if it is well-intended) messing things up by rehashing history and passing laws that end up heightening racial tensions and costing everybody grief and money.
Thanks GOP,
I failed to make one thing clear, IMO we can't forget what happened nor should we gloss over it so noone feels bad but to say 150 years later it's not better and we still need government to make sure people behave properly towards those of a different skin color in absurd. These policies only keep the resentment alive.
LIAMD
While I think what you are doing is fantastic, I really can not agree with you on what has a greater influence. I am not in support of hand outs but I do see that they greatest benefits provided to Blacks came from government. I say that with thought of providing them freedom from slavery, the right to vote, being equal citizens, the right to quality education, etc. I did not mean to imply your visits were not great too. I know we will not agree, but I have to say, I can't forget my past of having a fellow student, just as smart, with grade equal throughout the year to mine and her doing an additional project-end up with a B while I got an A. She knew she earned an A and knew no one would support her challenging it. I personally just don't understand why we are so willing to keep others down instead of allowing access equally. It is not White guilt. It is seeing the difference too often subtle, in action and then hearing folks ask what is "their" issues in one way or another. My point was not to relive slavery, but address how it affects us all today because it does.
I voted for Obama and it had nothing to do with his color. I see him as Black and White to be honest. But when he speaks, he seems to understand both your frustration and Blacks frustration. I like that he is able to recognize with empathy both sides and that is a great tool for a President of a diverse culture to have. I listen and I hear brilliance not because he can change the world, but the attitude of how to set about it is so methodical and deliberate to meet the needs of all, that I must hope for the possibility that he could provide what helps mend our country together for those like me who want that. It would be nice if Americans would allow him to make the attempt for all Americans betterment before we condemn him. It's just a thought.
We have no inferior people in our great land, we have emotional scares and a horrific past. I don't have a solution and I won't pretend that I am not emotional about this, but I hear a lot of stereotypes. I think some are formed because a group of people have been held back and told so long that they are not good enough, that they believe it. Then there are those who have given up or don't care and they respond with as much anger as they can get out. Then there are others who look to TV shows to determine the behavior of all. It's all this and so much more.
I am a firm believer you cannot correct the future if you will not confront the past. If we have Americans who feel history is playing a role in their lives today, and evidence such as the Ku Klux Klan actions this shows us there is something to what these Americans are experiencing, then those of us who are better than that should listen and work together to make a change.
Throughout all my posts, I find folks seem to imply I am a democrat or liberal. It's funny because I have never voted ever based on a group of beliefs. I could not tell you what any groups stands for to tell you the truth. I have always listened to individual candidates and if what they say speaks to me, they NO MATTER THE PARTY, gets my vote. There is not right Party. Both are quite flawed and frankly, as far back as I have checked, rhetoric flows during campaigns that never seem a real issue (like abortion) are seriously addressed by the very folks who claim it is such an important issue. Eight years after Bush, abortion rights are still an issue.
We wil have to agree to disagree on a couple points but it has been noce discussing this with you. I look forward to the next topic we cross paths on.
LIAMD
I have only respect for you and I thank you for challenging me to think about what I believe without feeling personally attacked. I too look forward to future discussions. I have no doubt there are many areas where we would completely agree.
Are all repubicans morons?
no
prove it
Yes, by an overwhelming majority!
Considering they didn't vote for Obama, I'd say no...but what would I know, I'm only an impartial observer.
jaywow67 - so now if one dem says something I consider stupid, are all dems stupid? Don't be shallow. That is how we get into messes like we are in.
Obama does have the potential to do what was said in the article. He has a cult-like following of empty-minded people who can't see the obvious. His profile is much like Hitler's profile (No, I am not saying he is the next Hitler but there are similarities). Obama is great at covering up true intentions with rose pedals. People don't smell the underlying pile of poo he is trying to deliver. His plans are very socialistic but are seen somehow as a good thing.
I personally think he will end up causing such a financial disaster(yes, even further than the overwhelming mess we are already in) that he won't have the power to succeed at all of his plans.
Don't get me wrong; I want Obama to pull this country out of the whole we are already in. I want him to be the best president in history because it will take nothing less than an amazing leader to get us back to where we should be. The truth is, though, with no real experience he really does not stand a chance. Talking smooth will get you a lot of things but eventually you have to pay up.
No, not all republicans are morons, foolish, stupid or any other label given, come on, we have extremes on both sides.....You seen and heard the old lady that collects crystals and sees republicans as gestapo, and we've all seen the ultra right wing war hawk that thinks democrats are loonies....
Talking smooth will get you a lot of things but eventually you have to pay up.
.....and has G.W. Bush taught us that lesson. I've lost $$$ because of his ignorance. So much for his 'experience'.
I've lost $$$ because of his (G.W. Bush) ignorance.
Surely you don't believe this was all Bush's fault. If we want to play the blame game, there are a lot of others than can be looked at. Quite frankly, ignorance is more prominent in your statement than can be shown on the part of President Bush.
Are all repubicans morons?
Every one that I have met and I've been on earth a long time.
Yes, by an overwhelming majority!
really? Last I checked Obama 17,535,458 morons following him.. a clear majority in popular vote.
Every one that I have met and I've been on earth a long time.
The funny thing is, you used longevity as a quantitative thing. It's like using water to measure speed. Being around for a long time isn't indicative of anything in regards to the amount of something you've met.
and has G.W. Bush taught us that lesson.
Say what you like about Bush, he's done stupid things I don't agree with either, but I can say that he's done about everything he said he was going to do.
The truth is, though, with no real experience he really does not stand a chance. Talking smooth will get you a lot of things but eventually you have to pay up.
That's just it - smooth talk got him in. 250K down to 120K for tax breaks making the Obama / McCain tax plan difference over a year a whopping 90 dollars, increase in gun cost as an effective tool to keep gun crime down and doing nothing about the fact that gun crimes happen with illegal not legal guns, reworking 'no child left behind' with the only change to keep military recruiters uninformed. He wanted us ALL to hope... well, while we may get screwed at least I saw it coming. The look on the supporters faces will be priceless.
Seriously, I hope I wrong about him. I too hope he pull sit together and gets it right, but so far in the past two weeks so many silent changes have poised to happen that... well... a big ol bag of 'told ya so' just might be in order next year.
I believe we should see what Obama does before we come to judgement, but I have read his book, and many of his comments. Many of the things he says can be interrupted in this way. In addition there are many similarities between Hitler and Obama, and there rise to power. With the exception that Obama has never served the country and Adolf had served his.
If you have to ask you probably already know the answer... :)
Many of the things he says can be interrupted in this way.
For anyone who didn't get that sentence, I think Oliver was going for "interpreted". And Oliver, almost anything can be twisted, misconstrued and interpreted to suit your preconceived notions. Sarah Palin did it marvelously for 2 months by taking pretty much everything out of context. I've read 2 of his books (not sure if there are more) and I would never fathom comparing it to Mein Kampf.
Based upon the evidence that:
They got Bush elected not once, but TWICE
The best they could find for a VP pick was an illiterate, divisive clotheshorse
3 words: Joe The Plumber
I'm beginning to wonder if it is really a question about Republicans being morons or Democrats being morons or just Americans. I personally think it is moronic to have a complete inability to grasp someone elses view on other issues. (Of course I don't think Americans are morons.. I'm just amazed at the current level of discourse).
I think there are a lot of Republicans and Republican supporters that are not morons. Both sides are approaching most issues with the impression that the other side is moronic. And whoever gets the most votes can claim victory in being less moronic than the side that lost.
I am quite stunned that jaywow67 got 13 votes for his insinuation that every Republican is a moron. Every single Republican or Republian Supporter. It's pretty easy to go on the internet and enjoy your anonymity by simply making fun of people. There are intelligent Republicans who are still hanging on to a party that they hope will come back - one that practices fiscal responsibility and encourages less government (that is certainly not the party it is today).
I do not think Ron Paul is a moron. He may be pretty out there but I like his ideas on less government and the guy understands the financial system better than anyone I saw in any of the debates (have you seen him talk with Fred Bernanke?).
This is coming from someone who was so excited to see Obama elected that I could not sleep the night before the election. I huddled nervously under a blanket hoping there was not going to be some sort of upset for McCain. I couldn't sleep the night of the election because I was on YouTube reliving the moment he was elected. It was a great day. I am by no means a supporter of Republican policies.
I like to think that most Americans are willing to look past their differences and not revert to childish name calling through a computer. I believe that most do not demonstrate such a level of cowardice or a lack of understanding and are willing to discuss issues in a responsible manner. Sometimes I have to look a little to be proven right....
Thank you brianandrew, well said!
I get so tired of this crap.
Read some German history. Hitler was not elected, he was appointed. Also, it was during a time of great cultural and economic unrest. And the Weimar Constitution had already been suspended the year before. The Reichtag was effectively dead at that time.
People are trying to dredge up the bogey men of the 50s and 60s. We have enough to worry about without politicians going off the deep end and inciting their constituents to do stupid things.
You too? The more I read, type and even study; the faster they come from the woodwork. Like little marching ants carrying the false bad news. From every walk of life. It is so dreadfully disheartening. No wonder our kids are stupid.
LadySaidy, do you not see the events we are experiencing today. There is social unrest and the government is doing things economically similar to the way the Wiemar Republic's did.
We have a charismatic leader, that is a socialist/Marxist. If you don't believe it read his book!
We have a charismatic leader, that is a socialist/Marxist. If you don't believe it read his book!
1. I wouldn't exactly call Bush charismatic, but whatever floats your boat.
2. While his plan to bail out the major banks and lending institutions certainly could be considered Socialism, I can't find any example of him appearing to give a crap about the American worker. So I guess he's no Marxist.
3. I'm not sure that Bush has ever written a book, unless filling out the crossword puzzle in People magazine counts.
Hahahahahahaha! Classic, RNoel, you will be receiving my friend request momentarily. I think most of the people who post those types of comments don't know the definition of socialism, much less marxism.
Yes Gordon, I have been paying attention to what is going on. Personally, I don't see too many similarities between the Weimar Republic after WWI and the present day.
I could probably list a few more ways as to why we are NOT in any way, shape, or form in the same predicament that Germany from 1919-1933. I'm hoping you get the picture.
And no, I haven't read any of President Elect Obama's books. Between work and school, I have very little time for reading Memoirs / Biographies for pleasure. Neither is it a genre I find very interesting.
What I have read are the economic and social proposals of both campaigns. I have also read Karl Marx. Have you? If you had, you would know that there is no way we are even close to becoming a Socialist / Communist state.
Are there socialistic elements in some of the proposals put forth by President Elect Obama? There are a few elements. But there are already "socialist programs" being used by the Government today. Ever heard of Social Security, Medicaid, Medicare, Public Housing, SChIP, Unemployment Benefits? Those are socialistic programs.
As for Obama being a charismatic speaker? Definitely. So was JFK, FDR, and Ronald Reagan. Wasn't Ronnie known as "The Great Communicator"? By your standards, that would also mean Reagan was possibly the next Hitler.
I would recommend that you stop panicking about ghosts of social theories, stop listening to Rush Limbaugh, and give the guy a chance. He hasn't even been sworn in yet. And if he screws up, we vote him out in 4 years. Deal?
Oops. The above post was meant for Oliver Shagnastey. It's early. I've only had one cup of coffee.
To send a message to Paul Broun, e-mail Paul@PaulBroun.com.
He obviously needs to hear from everyone.
I just did! Thanks! But he will be p'oed with me. tee hee
Keep sending those emails to him. He represents all of us in Congress let him know what you think.
"When he's proposing to have a national security force that's answering to him, that is as strong as the U.S. military, he's showing me signs of being Marxist."
I'm just curious, what does Mr. Broun consider Blackwater to be?
I'd imagine he would consider it a private security firm, not an arm of the government.
Except that they are all ultra right wing and all republican and the leader is a committed Bush/Cheny follower...i dare say they will dissolve the relationship with the government after Jan.
Except that they are all ultra right wing and all republican and the leader is a committed Bush/Cheny follower...i dare say they will dissolve the relationship with the government after Jan.
Can you show me a handful of militartistically strong Democrats?
This is the kind of racist speil that lost the republican party the Presidency.
This agent of hate has overlooked the fact that everyone who voted for Obama has learned the tactics of the Republican party is to accuse others of what it plans, or already has done. He also failed to look at the constitution to see what Obama suggested is exactly in the constittution.
To take it a step further his suggestion is really no different than what Bush and the republican party did in contracting with BLACKWATER in a non competitive exclusive Billion dollar a year contract, and everyone with a brain knows it was Blackwater inciting the events in Iraq to create war like tensions. When Blackwater left Iraq, the fighting decreased significantly.
The only Hitler devotees are those of the Republican party, and it's devotees who believe this kind of drivel, and four years from now this kind of talk will be severely outdated and the theme for those whites who will demonstrate there nature of Nazistic terrorism as they did duting the civil rights era of the 50's and 60's with the differnce being they'll be a miniscule and easily dispatched minority.
I beat you to the Blackwater comment! But only by 3 minutes, and since I'm pretty sure your post took much longer than mine to write, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.
Well, I'm glad you guys mentioned Blackwater, b/c it was on MY mind, too. such hypocrisy from the right.
Well elder logic says, "if you make your bed hard, you will have to lie in it". And that GOP bed must be concrete by now.
I'm just curious, what does Mr. Broun consider Blackwater to be?
Interesting question. From the perspective of traditional fiscal conservatives and anti-war liberals, Blackwater's far too expensive to bear. As an enforcer of ideology, much like these contrived Marxist troops roaming around like modern-day Robin Hoods, I would imagine that his take is much more conciliatory.
Afrimerican
For the love of God quit pulling the race card. It has lost a lot of power now that a black man has became the most powerful person on earth. How can you still try to drag us down with racism? Please, it gets so old to those of us who are not racists. Every time I hear somebody pull the racist card I know he/she is actually racist him/herself.
be like the egyptians ERASE EVERYTHING BUSH
Might you say, we should "walk" like Egyptians?
On a purely scientific and non-facetious, the Egyptians of olden days seemed to have quite a language and they definitely kept documents. To that end, I'm not sure that I understand your statement.
I think Americana2 was referencing the ancient Egyptian tendency to erase all images and references to past rulers.
Think Ahmenhotep. The rulers, and priests, systematically erased all references to him and all temples the he built. Amarna was razed to the ground.
Unfortunately when you do that, you cannot learn from the mistakes of the past. It doesn't do anyone any good.
Here is this idiot right here
http://www.paulbroun.com/index2.html
GOP sore looser although he won re-election. Wanna bet he won't get in to see the President Elect too much unless in the hallways? Not to mention the approval rating of any of his initiatives? See, GOP wants NO unity, not for real, for real. They like appearances only. They lost in divisiveness and they apparently wish to continue this trend. oh well....................
And this Ladies and Gentlemen, below is the actual plan that the Pres/VP Elects are proposing. Again I say, SERVICE IS NOT A FOUR-LETTER WORD but should be a standard bearer for all concerning and actively participating Americans. WHAT THIS GOP BLOW HEART IS DOING is fanning the flames and untimately making his journey difficult. I keep saying "that reap what you sow" can be a painful lesson. And often-times, learned too late.
Maybe it's me. Maybe I'm nuts after all. Send in the little folks in the white jackets 'cause I am so tired of trying to give peace a chance and folks the benefit of the doubt. Better Barack than me. (or many of you all too, for that matter). When God issued minds; many of us skipped the "heart transplant" line... apparently so.
the odd thing is... people already get a $4000 tax break for attending college when they pay for it out of pocket. It's adjustable depending on several factors like dorm or off campus, in state or out of state, and total cost after grants, loans and scholarships.
As for the extra service, most schools already require that, so either its just making up a feel good talking point or it's adding to what already exists. Extra curricular sports and so on also usually have some kind of community give back program. It takes charity as it exists and makes it obligatory.A forced hand is a cheap hand.
"weatherizing buildings", most people don't know what that is - its a low level 'green' remodeller, and it's gonna make practical things impractical because they're mandated, they'll be more expensive. Maybe I can get the money to actually have some college kid o install my windows for free with the tax break I'm allegedly recieving
"Any man who is under 30, and is not a liberal, has no heart; and any man who is over 30, and is not a conservative, has no brains." - Winston Churchill
S. Elaine Jones - "See, GOP wants NO unity, not for real, for real. They like appearances only. They lost in divisiveness and they apparently wish to continue this trend. oh well...................."
Actually first off I want "no" affiliation with this man (Obama) and will state proudly I did "not" vote for him. When we are attacked and more Americans are killed because of him, I will at least have a clear conscience.
Secondly, I will stand behind Obama just as all of you stood behind Bush. So hypocritic statements such as this really fall upon deaf ears.
Sounds like Congressman Broun might be seat-challenged the next time he runs for office.
Good grief! We risk the entire economy becoming stagnant sooner than having more gun control. If any 'control' changes are implemented by Congress, {some decade in the future}, it might be ownership of an assault weapon...which normal citizens really have no good use for anyway.
I can say that more people signing up for the Peace Corps *and* AmeriCorps (they serve the ranks of Habitat) would probably *be* good diplomacy and it would be good for our citizens to experience some first-hand 'good will toward mankind' too.
Our citizens aren't learning how to give more of themselves in walking city streets here while holding an assault rifle!
?seat challenged; ya think? we can keep hope alive.
and our citizens are not learning anything trudging around trying to hold up their pants either. whew........... what to do what to do with the GOP?
B-online, who are you to tell anyone what type of firearms they need, or should have?
May I tell you what type of footwear you should have or wear? Or perhaps I should try to legislate the type of chair you sit in! Firearms are tools, and there are many applications, and many types of tools.
If I prefer what you have been told is an assault rifle for target shooting or hunting, or home defense, what business is that of yours or the government.
You need to understand that true assault rifles were banned in 1935! What some politicians call assault rifles are not!
I'm not as afraid of Obama as I am Ried and Pelosi. Even Obama is going to be looking over his shoulder to make sure those two don't sell him down the river.
Curious -
I'm not as afraid of Obama as I am Ried and Pelosi.
Why?
If Obama plays President anywhere close to what he displayed during the campaign, he will run to the left of center. History tells us he tends to prefer to be a lot farther left than that, but he ran a fairly centrist campaign. Not to many on the far left are willing to campaign on a tax cut agenda. Obama wants to live in the new house for more than four years. I'd be more afraid of him if he gets re-elected in 2012. Especially if congress is still a democratic majority.
Reid and Pelosi on the other hand are salivating over their chance to enact their far left agenda now that they have a democratic president. They've been waiting for two years for this. They are pretty safe in their respective districts and states. They don't have as much to lose as Obama does.
Don't get me wrong. This is speculation from a my point of view. He could very well come out swinging from the far left, but I think he's a smarter man than that. All may be told in the first few weeks. We'll have to see if he jumps on the wagon being pulled by Pelosi and Reid and starts cracking the whip pushing them on or pulling in on the reins and slowing them down.
He's not my guy, but that doesn't mean I don't respect his intelligence.
Wellllll, even as a Democrat I have had the chance to speak with Pelosi on several occasions....she's about as partisan as you can get!! I don't really trust her that much either. Matter of fact she reminds me of Newt Gingrich with a dress on.
Studiusbagus
Even though we may never agree on politics I have to compliment you on your comparison of Pelosi and Gingrich. Well done.
This guy is like so many republicans I know...living in a propaganda fueled fantasy world. What ever happened to right and wrong, instead of "D" and "R"?
Give them a chance, the worst is yet to come, and nobody can stop it. Our new president is right, we are all in this together.
Harold,
You may be right but why are so many "democrats" yelling now it our turn?
History Education could go a long way in congress.
Maybe the new administration could have a few classes for all members congress on Ethics AND History. ;-)
As soon as anyone starts to invoke "nazi", "hitler" or "marxist" in their bluster about an individual, it only demonstrates they have an empty void between their ears, and no facts to base their hate rhetoric. In the next 2-4years the doubters will have had a chance to see "Leadership by example" from Obama that will finally call out these clowns. In 2010 & 2012 watch the Hate Mongers - of all Political persuasions - get kicked out of Congress.
Obama will not need to do anything as such, just carry on doing what he excels at - being a Leader, the people will do the rest following the Values he aspires to and lives by. I am so looking forward to the day when the euphemistic light bulb goes off in peoples head about Leadership and its effects. People will repudiate the hate nonsense of their own accord due to Obama's Leadership by Example.
Its what is behind the phrase "Change does not come From Washington, Change goes To Washington". Its the only way permanent Change happens, it cant be Legislated for, it has to be imposed by the people themselves or it does not survive. A Culture cannot be changed by politicians, only the people can do that. Many - especially the hate mongers - still dont get it, despite seeing a campaign go from ground zero to winning in 22 months.
They still think its political, its not, its a desire inside people that is now surfacing due to steady Leadership. They will "get it" in the next 2-4 years, and the result will be Life Changing in the US. Its going to be a wonderful thing to watch evolve.
Zydor, those who do not remember history, are bound to repeat it.
Obama's rise is similar to Adolf's. Some of the things he proposes are similar to Stalin and Adolf's
I am not saying he is the same, but he certainly needs to be watched closely!
Some of the things he proposes are similar to Stalin and Adolf's
Such as ? And base the response on factual evidence of formal Policy not smear and innuendo.
Gun Control, Redistribution of wealth, etc... The remark in his book about how he chooses his friends, or the groups of people he selects his friends from.
You really should read his book. If you hold traditional values dear, it will scare thte hell out of you!
what pray tell are "Traditional Values" I'll give you gun control. Not that Obama will take away yours, but I don't want to argue the 2nd admendment, and I'm fine with idiots thinning the herd by letting their kids play with them.
But any of the other admendments (cept maby the 4th) what have the Republicans and Bush done to protect those admendments in the last 8 years. And how many have they begun to chip away at?
But I'm more interested in hearing your definition of American Tradition Values.
I'd like that answer too. Is that where so called "family values" = 1 wife at a time (with several mistresses on the side) aka Newt Gingrich comes in?
Or Oliver, do you consider those gay bashing, baptizing the dead, polygamist and polytheistic Mormons to be more in line with "traditional" values there?
Spare me the morality of your "value" judgments Oliver, I gave up taking advice from Republican hypocrites a long time ago.
What do Bush or Gingrich have to do with this discussion? I did not mention them. Nor did I hold them up as examples! Just because I do not care for Obama, does not mean I favor Bush or McCain!
Neither party has offered us a true leader. Al they present to us are politicians in a time that we need statesmen!
E. Jones,
That really sounds great. Are these mandatory programs? Sounds like our son will have no choice when he reaches middle school. He will be required to work for the goverment for free or will he get paid? Apparently if you are in college you will at least get paid $40.00 per hour for public service. And if your an inner city child the most you can expect is to be a menial laborer no more than construction. Retirees will be unpaid volunteers who may have to work to supplement thier retirement. Oh by the way are there going to be enough public service jobs to go around?
The one problem with sending our young overseas (without defense training or weapons) is the unrealistic idea that different cultures will see us as peaceful and the whole world will "become as one". Wrong! The Islamic extremists only wish one thing for the west - DEATH... Osama himself said he would go out of his way to kill any American within the same country as him. You can not be friends with them, there is no diplomacy, no negotiations, they want us dead or we all become Islamists no inbetween.
Sorry folks, you will not convince me that this plan is totally flawed. From what I see of this generation, this plan is exactly what they need. If the young men and women of the military serve; why should civilians be exempt and not be expected to serve, study and be less idle. I am for service. As a vet, educator, parent, grandparent and community activist and volunteer and Christian: I only see one way for this country to survive in a viable fashion is that we work in some form, be it paid work, school work, volunteer work, community work; heck, even farm work. They like to eat. Then see how it is gathered. Yes, I am a task master and I was that way with my three educated children. Work! Idle hands are the workshop of the devil and idol minds are the detriment of contextual thought. My grandson just made two C's due his new found interest in sports and girls. He has lost Christmas and has but one way to redeem himself maybe. He will as of tomorrow be leaving his mother's home (just a few blocks away) and coming here to me. He will be expected to perform 1 hour of community service per day 2 full hours of study, 1 hour of chores to my design here, 30 min of reading, and then bedtime. No games, no movies, no phone and he will be here until Thanksgiving. That is his punishment for not appreciating for he has. He is not to complain. And if he complains, the time will be extended. He will remain in sports due we have paid for it. Service!
E. Jones
Sorry for picking on you, I didn't realize you were a fellow conservative. When you wrote what Obama's plan was, I thought that you wanted goverment to take care of your childrens future. But now I see you do what all conservatives believe, let the families take care of thier own children. If they need help then thier local community the last resort the federal goverment. Not Goverment First its Family First. Remember we believe the phrase "God, Family, Country".
Now about comparing conservatives with neonazis that I have seen in the site and others. Neonazis are anarchists bent on overthrowing the goverment and then using the goverment resourses to oppress and suppress everyone who doesn't believe as they do (facsism). Now both sides of the aisle can be accused of this. I have seen many liberals wish to shut up conservatives permantly, but I don't wish that of liberals, I like to hear opposing views, sometimes just to find out whats out there.
Rep. Paul Broun (R-Ga.) This is the same congressman that introduced an amendment to the U.S. Constitution to ban same-sex marriage, a result of the backlash by lawmakers upset with the California Supreme Court’s ruling legalizing gay marriage.
Bastard. What a wanna be dic-taker.
To Rep. Paul Broun: please take three deep breaths, unlock the door, and get a life. Good grief. I'm not sure the English language has the terminology to describe your moronic 'fear', but we could try the term: Duhhh. Obama's transistion team already is a pragmatic middle road looking vehicle. In addition, a scholar of presidential transitions has given Obama's team an A++ for their efforts so far. I'd say that's worth thinking about. Your vehicle of thought looks like it needs four wheels, a motor, and a paint job. As for RobWI: sounds like your 'study' was done with the lights off after too much bratz. This endless attempt to smear Obama with McCarthy-like accusations is below contempt. If you want to post here, at least make some feeble attempt to support your theorizing. How would you like it if I said: after studying the Republicans for some years, I've discovered an eerie parallel to neo-early-Sumerian ideology, and am also worried that they might show signs of Bright's Syndrome, mixed with systematic Kantian overtones. Pretty sinister sounding.
One of my grandsons, child of semi-priviledge has just received two C's due his new found interest in girls and wrestling. Therefore due his lack of service to his school work, effective tomorrow, he will leave his mother's home (only a few blocks away) and come to Granny! oh boy......... I think the other grand are kinda quiet now. They have done this drill below, before too. GRANNY'S HOUSE AND NOT ON VACATION IN THE SNOW THROUGH THE WOODS.
Not the dreaded granny. He has effectively lost Christmas after a fabulous birthday this year and a wonderful Halloween (my least favorite holiday) due the grades and an ungrateful attitude for his blessings and entitlements (yeah sho ya right.........) and the only way that he can POSSIBLY redeem himself for Christmas, and that is only a possibility is service. Therefore, he will have to: for his punishment since corporal punishment is foolishly outlawed.... He will come to me starting tomorrow until Thanksgiving and it ain't no holiday!
1. He wil come straight home from school after practice (the funds have been invested) and prepare his uniform for the next day and have dinner then...
2. He looses his game boy and WII and cell fone and is required to read after school for 30 min and write me a two paragraph essay on the reading each day and do his homework. Each day! then... We may play a board game and it can only be scrabble and no word under five letters is allowed. He is 14.
3. He will spend 30 min on a community project each day in the neighborhood or at our church, then...
4. He will spend 1 hour on a household chore of my choosing and of his ability each day, then...
5. He will shower and retire for the evening with no snacks. A home cooked dinner should be sufficient. He will say his prayers in a quiet room with no TV and go to bed.
And this service will resume the next day and the next and the next until the day before Thanksgiving where he will spend with me at the homeless shelter preparing two dishes for the needy and with me the night before assisting in prep for our family dinnner. We will go to Prayer service at church before the meal the next da and have a lovely Thanksgiving.
Demerits will be deducted for any back talk, eye rolls, sighs, complaints or work that does not meet my standards and specifications and my standards are pretty high. He is on MY lockdown service program. He may then return to his home and parents Thanksgiving night with my recommendations for Christmas.
It is all on him. He has already been informed and has packed. He even called me today before practice to see how I was feeling with "I love you Granny"! Well, I love you too and cya tomorrow. Does not work here, that love ya BS. Will he love me enough to obey? I am a task master and I expect that you realize that you are born to be a bum or a dummy or a slacker.
Service is not a dirty word. Should be implemented more. And do any of you think his parents told me no. I wish they would have.......... and they would be over here too serving with him.
SERVICE! TO MUCH IS GIVEN, MUCH IS REQUIRED. And I have not been to the judicial system but I have been to 5 college graduations and one military graduations for three kids. I did however go to the principals office a time or two but that did not last long after I came in like Napoleon (msp).
SERVICE! RESPECT! ACCOUNTABILITY! MANNERS! Old school! Still works for me.
I agree with you because I have a niece who's a teen and you know how it goes, anyways if she does bad in school she loses her privileges of phone, being with friends and so on.Her parents make sure of that because they want her to learn how to deal with her responsibilities.Strict yea but worth it and her parents aren't together but they both raised her well and agree on many things when it comes to their daughter. This summer she got one of those program jobs making some money and learning what's it like to work,it made me so proud.
My mom is an senior citizen and she's a volunteer for the Red Cross for over 10 years now and has been down south for disaster areas, does hometown work and enjoys every moment of it.
So tell me why are people are having a fit of doing community service and getting something out of it that benefits the future of our children,to have something to believe in and be appreciated when it's due?You give and you get back more than what you've given to make yourself feel good and enjoy doing it.This is what we need our Country needs, especially the poor stricken poverty towns that gets ignored and has no hope.Well, this can be hope and for the children who can have something and look forward for their future.
That guy is really is a fruit loop without the milk in it,how dare he brings up something that has no comparison what so ever.He needs to go back to grade school and read up history again for stupidity of his ignorant brain and mouth.
Old school!! Amen, amen, PREACH!!! I love it. You're my kind of grandma S. Elaine!
You keep proving that you are closet conservatives, letting family take care of things first.
Just in Obama's service plan alone what Broun was trying to point out is what will community service mean. Will it be young people patrolling the streets to inform authorities of any wrong doing or perceived wrong doing, even reporting on their parents and family. Hitler had his brown shirts doing this. There are only so many community service projects out there, with this plan you will flood the market and these kids will have to do something. These kids will also have to be trained and equipped by the goverment. Sound familiar.
Who takes up the liability on the people doing these services. When you are putting kids in dangerous situations someone will get hurt. Either in construction, caring for other people, patrolling the streets, even sweeping sidewalks there are dangers. Let me determine what is best for my own son.
You keep proving that you are closet conservatives, letting family take care of things first.
What does being a conservative have to do with "family first"? The vast majority of families, conservative and liberal, try to solve their own problems before looking for outside intervention or assistance.

We have an aging population. A good amount of community service could be reading to or keeping company with the elderly. Or how about building homes for Habitat for Humanity? Giving out juice and cookies at a Red Cross Blood Drive? And why would Obama need children to report on their parents? He already has Bush's Patriot Act so he can listen to your phone calls.
Who takes up the liability on the people doing these services. When you are putting kids in dangerous situations someone will get hurt. Either in construction, caring for other people, patrolling the streets, even sweeping sidewalks there are dangers. Let me determine what is best for my own son.
Where do you keep getting this crap that kids will be "patrolling the streets"? It just shows how ludicrous and insane your argument is. You honestly believe that kids are in dangerous situations if they visit a retirement home or sweep the streets? Let me tell you what's best for your son. Adoption.
Whoa now your telling me that I should not even be raising my own son? Because I am a conservative. What was meant by the closet conservative is to point out that we are not all that different in our beliefs. The children doing 50 hours community service like I said will have to do something. In our area it is rural farm country. The school my son attends has about 400 students (rather small but also is representative of the area). Being there are 300 students in middle to high school there would be required 15,000 hours community service that is 1875 8 hour days. Let me tell you there are not that many community service jobs in this area. To get the students the required time they would have to be bussed to nearby cities ranging from 20 to 30 miles away. But the problem with that is the schools in those areas would already have all community service jobs. The market will be flooded, so what will they do? Just to make you think I pointed out the worst case. But just for doing this I didn't think I would have to give up my son to adoption.
Obama, being Black, and being elected president, isn't realistically imaginable to suggest that such achievement eliminates racism in America.
I did not play the race card, it is already in play, and like any good player I read the table and ante'd up.
In the case of this election, the best man won because a series of national tragedies outweighed racial concerns, and put focus on someone willing to stand up and make the point that Change was needed in Washington to stave off the country being siphoned into complete collapse by the Bush -ites, Neo cons, and the big business interest that have bought influence of government to the brink of ruin.
The empirical evidence sustains it was a Republican agenda, but Democrats share fault because greed is contagious and many Democrats rode the gravy train.
The talk about being on the left, or centrist, or moderate is B.S. for a national leader, and any leader who adheres to such is a fool. The President is the President for all citizens, be they Dem, or Rep. or whatever, and he is mandated by law, and by spirit to act in the best interest of all, not just a select few, or the party, or the race, or the static. ideology of geosociopolitical theory.
When compared side by side Obama, and the democratic party has evidenced a more realistic, and more open policy of "...justice for all", while the Republican party preach and demonstrate hate, and separation.
ouuuuuuuuuuuuuu naw u didn't go there did ya? Ouch! That critique bites, stings! Where is my salve? Heck I wish I had written that one.
and naw u didn't say this did ya? <snip "I did not play the race card, it is already in play, and like any good player I read the table and ante'd up."
Well Brava, Well done and go on wicha bad self. Chile pleazzzzzzzz!
I guess ya'll heard that!
Girl, you always got me rollin and thinking,lol..S.E.J
Afrimerican - I have to disagree with the dems being a party for all. The whole Obama political rant was to tax the wealthy. Are the wealthy not Americans because they succeeded? And the definition of wealth to Obama is $250,000 for a family which sounds like a lot to some but depending on where you live in the country, thats not a great deal of money. Also, if you own a small business and your entire business is pulling only $250,000 a year, you will also get penalized. So aren't the people working for small businesses Americans? So since the people working for small businesses will probably lose their jobs they are getting penalized. Aren't they Americans? I am sure I will never convince you that racism is coming from both sides but trust me as a white guy who had to pay for every step of my career path while watching people of other races get their college paid and get jobs based only on the companies making a racial quota, the racism of today is on both sides. Lets make a deal. I won't talk about racism if you don't and we will just get past it rather than make it stick out like a sour thumb.
Only a Republican and so-called consevative would make a comment like that,i guess he get his info from that idiot Rush Limbaugh
You have to remember that Rep. Paul Broun was elected in a democratic Georgia. I'm not comparing him to an ignorant bigoted racist in-breeder with @!$%#-for-brains. What I'm saying is there is the potential of going down that road.
I'm just trying to bring attention to the fact that we may — may not, I hope not — but we may have a problem with that type of philosophy of racial segregation or racism.
What did Broun say about race?
Two words introduced by Broun say everything about race: Adolph Hitler
Anyone with a brain and any sense of history understands the symbolism of hatred, racism, and bigotry that is mustered by the mere mention of that name. Yes, Broun tantalizing uses the trendy new GOP doublespeak when mentioning Hitler in the same speech in which he attempts to persuade us that we can't trust Obama as President.
The phrases I wrote in my first post are obviously satirical twists on the doublespeak Broun uses. I could just as easily say that I've said nothing bad about Broun, I'm just saying, you never know...you know?
Stop the GOP Doublespeak(Orwell would be so proud...)
LOL from Georgia, did I really have to guess it would be a Republican? Like red-neck noise? New poll Bush the worst opinion poll of any President ever, thanks for that necks! and you wanted McSame?
This is the worst case of sour grapes I have ever seen when one party loses. There are some saying the world is going to end. Obama will enslave us all and we will see the destruction of the free world as we know it. HOGWASH! Some of the things being said are laughable but this kind of crap is ridiculous.
I hope it is laughable. But it was a concern of mine after hearing some of Obama's remarks and reading his book. The actions of some of the leadership of the house and Senate coupled with the new leftist president elect are scary!
Then you and the rest of the whiners better go hide somewhere while the rest of us pitch in and help fix this mess your Commander and Chimp created.
I will try to keep this short. Bush's popularity I believe is quite low (name calling is not necessary). There are many reason's the main one being constantly hounded by the liberal media, late night comedy constantly downing him, controlling liberals in goverment blaming him but never taking alot of the blame themselves, and the worst part for us conservatives Bush would not defend himself. But being his popularity was low that means he lost a lot of us too. So we don't lockstep like you all think we do.
I have to go to work now.
I been calling him and the rest of his Monkey Sticks that since day one when he stole the election in 2000. I'm sure you GOP'ers will find some great adjectives to lay on Obama.
Bush would not defend himself. ???
Give me a freaking break here. The man lied us into a war that has killed thousands he tried to tell us he was right even when he knew it was a crock.
Hmm we seem to have a differing view of history. As I remember it was Gore who when he lost the vote in Florida, he demanded a recount but of only I believe 3 counties. Of course these counties were the most democratic and would yield the most votes for him. That's great if he were running for state representative of Florida, but this is a general election and if there is a recount then the whole state has to be recounted. Then when the democrats said that every vote should be counted, they tried to throw out absentee ballots from certain counties. Just who was trying to steal the election?
The UN, Nato, Congress, Senate all agreed that Sadam had violated sanctions and they demanded that we do something. We went through diplomacy with more sanctions, we went through votes on the subject, we exhausted every avenue before we went to war. We found that Sadam was bluffing, so what were we to do? Once you pull the trigger you cannot recall the bullet. Now Obama took the most uncontroversial route by coming out against the war. This is like his reaching across the aisle to Sen. Lugar for a non-poliferation treaty, uh there is no one out there who wants loose nukes (except terrorists). This was done just to show he could be bipartisan. I myself am against war but so is just about everyone else. But at times war is a neccessary evil. Obama wants to pull our troops out as quickly as possible. You do realise we are still in Germany, Bosnia, Korea, ect. We are there to keep the peace under a show of power. This causes us to develop alot of enemies but also friends. The one war in which we pulled out completely when it became unpopular was Vietnam. What happened there we had protests and condamnations from even some famous people (Jane Fonda to name one). After we left (with the south Vietnamese pleading for us to stay) the communist leader Pol Pot moved in with his armies and annihalated millions of the south Vietnamese. Did the antiwar crowd at the time shed a tear for the innocents that were slaughtered, or did they pat themselves on the back for getting the US out of there.
No sense arguing with you . You seem to know it all. I'll just let you dissolve into your delusional little world. Hope you have a nice trip,
Is there federal law out there that states that if your party loses the election that you are required to shut up and go away. That is what I keep seeing from many of the comments in this site. The rep. for Georgia has all the rights to say what is on his mind as is all of you. I have the right to say what I say. You can choose not to read it. That is what is great about this country. As long as we have this freedom it doesn't matter who is president for this keeps the checks & balances intact and active.
I don't know it all, no one does. But "Thank you"
Obama won and they STILL don't lay off with the scare tactics.
I hope Obama does as well as MOST of us hope and this guy looks like a fool and loses his job next election.
jesus h. christ, here we go again...and again. god only knows why!!! these ideologues cannot tolerate a democrat, thats the bottom line. if a dem is elected, no matter the office, all hell is going to break loose in large chuncks. WE ARE AMERICANS you idiot. if this turd has to scare his constituents to get elected, and stay in office, may god have pity on us all.
i would like to ask this shmuck why, after all these years of warning us that a democrat is going to declare a dictatorship, remove every gun from the face of the earth (or at least the u.s,), start teaching satanism in schools, burn every church in the country to the ground, has it not happened in all these years? why? because the american people would go kicking and screaming before they would let anything get anywhere near that point. believe me!!! and as a non-violent, hippy, christian, ect., i would be right in the middle of it.
the far wrong-wing, evangelical, conservative pubies ain't got a lock on patriotism, boys and girls. and its time for these hair-balls to shut-up and join the 21st. century and help re-build the country that they have done their gut-level best to destroy, low these last 8 years!!!
luv,
ron
