Al-Qaida No. 2 insults Obama with racial epithet

CAIRO — Al-Qaida's No. 2 leader used a racial epithet to insult Barack Obama in a message posted Wednesday, describing the president-elect in demeaning terms that imply he does the bidding of whites. The message appeared chiefly aimed at persuading Muslims and Arabs that Obama does not represent a change in U.S. policies.

Ayman al-Zawahri said in the message, which appeared on militant Web sites, that Obama is "the direct opposite of honorable black Americans" like Malcolm X, the 1960s African-American rights leader.

In al-Qaida's first response to Obama's victory, al-Zawahri also called the president-elect — along with secretaries of state Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice — "house Negroes."

Speaking in Arabic, al-Zawahri uses the term "abeed al-beit," which literally translates as "house slaves." But al-Qaida supplied English subtitles of his speech that included the translation as "house Negroes."

The message also includes old footage of speeches by Malcolm X in which he explains the term, saying black slaves who worked in their white masters' house were more servile than those who worked in the fields. Malcolm X used the term to criticize black leaders he accused of not standing up to whites.

In Washington, State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said the latest message was just "more despicable comments from a terrorist."

The 11-minute 23-second video features the audio message by al-Zawahri, who appears only in a still image, along with other images, including one of Obama wearing a Jewish skullcap as he meets with Jewish leaders. In his speech, al-Zawahri refers to a Nov. 5 U.S. airstrike attack in Afghanistan, meaning the video was made after that date.

Al-Zawahri said Obama's election has not changed American policies he said are aimed at oppressing Muslims and others.

"America has put on a new face, but its heart full of hate, mind drowning in greed, and spirit which spreads evil, murder, repression and despotism continue to be the same as always," the deputy of al-Qaida chief Osama bin Laden said.

He said Obama's plan to shift troops to Afghanistan is doomed to failure, because Afghans will resist.

"Be aware that the dogs of Afghanistan have found the flesh of your soldiers to be delicious, so send thousands after thousands to them," he said.

Al-Zawahri did not threaten specific attacks, but warned Obama that he was "facing a Jihadi (holy war) awakening and renaissance which is shaking the pillars of the entire Islamic world; and this is the fact which you and your government and country refuse to recognize and pretend not to see."

He said Obama's victory showed Americans acknowledged that President George W. Bush's policies were a failure and that the result was an "admission of defeat in Iraq."

But Obama's professions of support for Israel during the election campaign "confirmed to the Ummah (Islamic world) that you have chosen a stance of hostility to Islam and Muslims," al-Zawahri said.

It took a racial epithet to convice you this guy is clearly evil?

Remember back in 1980 when Ronald Reagan won the Presidential election and we had a plane full of people held hostage for over 440 days? Ronnie said, either send back the plane (and the people on it) or we turn your country into a parking lot on inauguration day. Your choice. If memory serves me correctly, that was a game changer and worked out just fine.

To the present, previous posters are correct, Obama does not talk himself to death. He takes action and that is exactly what al-Qaida is afraid of.

Zawahiri is well taken care of by the CIA or Mosad Zionists, Im sure Bin Laden is dead and a new boogie man is needed to scare the sheeple into more war to do Israel's dirty work.. MSM DID A GOOD JOB DEMONIZING ISLAM According to January 2000 U.S. Congressional testimony, al-Zawahiri was granted U.S. residence by the Immigration and Naturalization Service - something almost impossible for many legitimate immigrants to obtain..

Well I'm relieved - these people are obvious idiots, saying things that will only unite 7/8 of the world behind Obama. (As if you can trust anyone playing "holy man" with an assault-rifle on his shoulder and wearing a 1973 pair of eyeglasses!) He'd be better off trying to build a new Peoples Temple in Guyana or something.

I mean what else have they got left for recruiting now?

"Everyone who wants to slide back 2 Centuries, live in a cave, use one hand to wipe yourself with, then cap off your life by blowing yourself up for a doddering old fool - raise your hand!"

What is wrong with the world when so many people actually LISTEN to people like this?  Is it nuclear waste or rogue microwaves?

        DirtClod88,

If you think that's something, read response #31. Some of us reported her in an attempt to have comments removed. I truly believe in Freedom of Speech, but Laura went out there and just took this judicial right just a wee bit too far. It is not offensive to me, because I am not an insecure individual, but she broke Newsvine CoH.

I object to so many Viners here and their comfort level of "spelling out" the "N" WORD.  That makes what Zawahiri said fairly tame.  It is offensive as a few of you are.  You might have attempted to make decent points or POORLY tried, but once that is done, no matter who does it, it is lost in the translation.  You hide behind the screen and attempt to cloak what you type by surrounding that one offensive word with so many other words and that is totally unacceptable.  And I think an apology is in order, but I am positive that I won't get one from the "Anne's and Laura's etc" here.

I am a Black American and no matter the political-civil climate of this country, I have never been a N!  And I never will be.  Actually TO ME --- "N" means "fool" therefore, that applies to the "YOU TWO or more" of you, no matter your pigmentation.  Moreso infact.  Finally, that shoe fits better.

You did have options.  "N", Negro, Black American or nothing at all.  Looks like a lack of brain power to me.

        S. Elaine,

I don't particularly like using or writing the "N" word, for I have explained this in responses on additional forums, and was simply quoting Laura.  I am an African American/Black woman so I definitely the know this word can be offensive to Black people. Do you know what my mother's degree reads, "The Alabama State College for Negroes", which remained in her nightstand for many years beneath all other papers she considered junk. The college name is changed to Alabama State University. My mother couldn't get a teaching job when she moved North and blamed it on that one word inscribed in her degree.  I was nearly grown before I found out my mother had a degree and earned it in 1944. How many black women you know earned a degree in 1944? So don't insinuate I don't know the impact this word have on Black people and I "attempted to make decent points or poorly" tried when using it in my response. This is purely an assumption. One thing my parents taught me is you don't apology unless you intentionally offended someone. Otherwise, say excuse me. Offending you or anyone else was not my intentions and definitely not part of my character, but I will write, excuse me.  Unless you know me, don't judge or assume anything about me. Now you should apologize to me, because when one assumes and accuses someone of something before questioning them to find out why, this is intentional. Thank you!

        Elaine,  Very well said.

The morons and cowards have discovered our secret handshake.  Their cancer seems to have metastasized throughout The Vine.

It's easy for them to use certain insults from the privacy of their double wide.  It's the only safe place since decent society has overwhelmingly demonstrated (see Nov 5th headlines) that the rest of us are sick of their poison.

If this month's election showed nothing else, it showed racists -- both foreign and domestic that despite this country's regrettable past, the majority has moved beyond it.  Sure, we still have issues to address on how we treat one another, but most don't automatically sum up a person by race or gender or address.  Those who do still think in those terms are wanted in the Smithsonian.

My mother's degree says the exact same thing, from Montgomery Alabama.  I have no offense for the word Negro. The degree does not say Alabama State College for N******.  And my mother got a teaching job in the south, to Principal to Superintendent until her death.

I know you by what you protray, therefore my judgement is simply what I am shown.  Being a Black American, you of all people should have known better and resisted to stoop to that level.  Many times it is not what we say, but how we say it.  Therefore I stand on my post and my criticism.  Talk me down when you have something to say.  Just because you are one of the "darker" natives, does not give you license to use the word.  EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And like I said, I did not expect an apology nor do I want one at this point any longer.  I made my point with what I said and if I have to shout it from the rafters, I will.

And btw, since you asked for an apology "ANN", I am deeply sorry THAT YOU CAN'T OR WON'T SEE THE ERROR OF YOUR WAYS and embrace constructive criticism with a vow to make a positive change.
