Correction: Newspapers-bankruptcies story

advertisement

NEW YORK — In a Dec. 9 story about newspaper companies that might follow Tribune Co. into bankruptcy, The Associated Press erroneously reported that analyst Mike Simonton at Fitch Ratings said bankers might hold out for more concessions when renegotiating debt agreements with such companies as Freedom Communications Inc. and Media General Inc.

Simonton was speaking generally about publishers that need to renegotiate debt agreements, and he did not specifically cite Freedom or Media General by name.
