Palin's daughter gives birth to son named Tripp

ANCHORAGE — The teenage daughter of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, whose quest for the vice presidency began to go downhill the day she announced the pregnancy, has given birth to a son, a magazine reported Monday. Bristol Palin, 18, gave birth to Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston on Sunday, People magazine reported online. He weighed 7 pounds, 4 ounces. Colleen Jones, the sister of Bristol's grandmother, told the magazine that "the baby is fine and Bristol is doing well."

The governor's office said it would not release information because it considers the baby's birth a private family matter.

The father is Levi Johnston, a former hockey player at Alaska's Wasilla High School.

Palin announced on Sept. 1, the first day of the Republican National Convention, that her unwed daughter was pregnant. The campaign issued a statement saying Bristol "and the young man" would get married.

Levi Johnston's mother eventually disclosed that her 18-year-old son was the father. The following week, the young man attended the convention in St. Paul, Minn. when Palin accepted the nomination as John McCain's running mate.

The announcement that Bristol, 17 at the time, was pregnant immediately drew concerns that it could damage Palin's credibility as a religious conservative. It also foreshadowed a troubled campaign for Palin, who drew large crowds at rallies but was criticized for her composure in news interviews and for her experience level.

Sherry Johnston, Levi's mother, said in October that Bristol and her son were considering a summer wedding.

Levi Johnston told The Associated Press that month that he and Bristol loved each other and wanted to get married. Johnston, who dropped out of high school to take a job on the North Slope oil fields as an apprentice electrician, said he was a little shocked to learn that Bristol was pregnant but quickly warmed to the idea of being a father.

He said the two had planned to get married even before Bristol became pregnant.

Johnston, an avid hunter, hinted at the time that they were expecting a boy. He said he was already looking forward to taking the boy hunting and fishing.

Johnston's mother was arrested on felony drug charges this month after state troopers served a search warrant at her Wasilla home. According to authorities, she sent text messages to two police informants in which she discusses making drug transactions involving OxyContin, a strong prescription painkiller.

Sarah Palin and her husband, Todd, have five children ranging in age from Trig, 7 months, to Track, 19. In between are Willow, 14; Piper, 7; and Bristol.

One of many examples...A friend of mine Named his son 'Spike".

The problem was I had a dog with that name, it's alright, although he's grown up now, it's still fun to tease him about it.

It's hard to find a kids name, that the other kids won't invent someway to tease them about it, a rhyme or something.

    It's part of growing up.

I got my fair share. It's all fun.

Have a nice day Skyi the cow pie. :)

"Hmmmmmm"...Gotta love the levels of intelligence and education presented in that neat little package posted above. Once again, your abject hatred for someone based in emotions and not in fact are illuminating.

I am not a person who functions in fear, but this is a fear that I have...for those young minds that you are polluting with your bigotry, hatred and intolerance, wrapped up in some supposed package of intelligence.

By the way, for the record, my education and experience consists of multiple Graduate/Specialist degrees along with multiple earned Board Certifications that Court Judges use to qualify my testimony in civil litigation matters. (We'll leave the peer-reviewed Journal and book publications out of the mix for the moment.)

Here's hoping that 2009 can be a year of revelation and mind-expansion for you!

Sorry that Truth Detector is so afraid of truth .  Since he can read he should do so.  I was in beauty pageants too and won, but he would have probably declared me ineligible because I also taught trigonometry.  Heres hoping the New Year has an effect on his mind, and others that education, intelligence and experience matter more than skin color and hatred.  Lets put it this way:  You are taking a plane trip, the pilot has education, experience and intelligence, is well resepcted and knows what he is doing.  You scream, yell, insult him because you don't like the name his mother gave him and his skin tone.  You decide to have a pilot with no intelligence, no education, no experience, who gives her children names you like and has a pale skin tone. The plane crashes and many are hurt (economy-government-etc) but she survives.  After doing so much harm she gets millions of dollars to pose for photos and blames the wreckage on prejudice.  Please get a good dictionary, check you facts, open your mind. I will not waste time on you anymore as I have a life filled with importance. Thinkk on this  "If you put lipstick on an idiot....you get an idiot wearing lipstick."

        BB your ignorant.

        Easton is Old English

Mitchell is Middle English, Old French

Johnston is Middle English and Scottish.

There now your are slightly less ignorant.

Purple Party,  If you are going to call another person ignorant you might want to learn some spelling and grammar yourself.  It is "you're" a contraction of you are, not "your"

As to Bristol Palin.   She is unfortunately an unintelligent, immoral child who, apparently, was not given a proper upbringing.  As to the name Tripp - after the paternal Grandmother's drug bust - What was she thinking?

ignorant is the same as calling them stupid.

This is your ignorance, it's is a common misunderstanding. One is the condition of not knowing, but intelligent enough to comprehend the more sophisticated, or not so, concepts, retain, and use them. The other is the condition of being incapable of knowing, a lack of intelligence or common sense. You can be both Ignorant and stupid, but they are not the same.

Not to seem condescending, but for your personal edification, get a dictionary.

We have different words to express different concepts for a reason. to better formulate our thoughts and express them to others as civilly, coherently and accurately as possible. Communication only occurs when both sides understand each other.

Those two words, even though they are mistakenly used synonymously due to ignorance, are not the same. Either the user of the word, used it incorrectly, or the receiver did not understand the contextual meaning of it, the two words are not the same.

Either ask for clarification, or perhaps feel you have been insulted, without reason. Wars have been started for as much.

If you learn a new word every day, you can actually expand your range of thought. Because that's precisely what words are.

May you have a wonderful, and fruitful year.

TRIPP EASTON MITCHELL JOHNSTON...........at least it is an AMERICAN name...........unlike the PE.

Because it can only be ignorance that would lead you to say something like that.  Though I don't suppose you care all of these names including Tripp are European.

I was told I was ignorant because of defending the names of a New Born Baby.

Furthermore don't claim your nobility when you were using a baby to take a swipe at Obama. That transends ignorance and heads directly to crass.

Language is what gives us advantage above animals. You disagree with the accepted definitions of language set down in the dictionary, not with me. So you have nothing, as you can not communicate in any intelligent manner to anyone and your option is made worthless.. All you can do is babble and squawk like an animal. Advance concepts are beyond you. Stubbornly Remaining ignorant is not strength of character, or a virtue.

Claiming it is just your opinion, as if you have a right to remain uneducated, you give us no alternative but to talk down to you like a child, in a level you can understand, Using your own definitons and the terms you are limiting yourself to you force others to do just that, so don't blame anyone else for it. And If you can not keep up, then shut up and listen, Are you are incapable of learning? Unless you ever admit you are wrong, then you might as well be stupid, because the result is the same.

                      BB,

I didn't call you ignorant.  I simply pointed out that your post clearly shows your lack of knowledge/understanding of proper syntax and grammar, posssibly as a result of lack of intelligence/education.   As to your disagreement with my assessment of that poor, poor  child Bristol Palin, I suggest you  work to see that the Sarah Palins of the world concentrate on family, rather than personal aggrandizement (look it up)  through political gain.  Bristol Palin and her boyfriend have a hard road ahead of them.  And their incredible choice of name for their newborn, given Bristol's  future mother in law's drug bust is inbelieveable.  Isn't anyone thinking in that family????

I am sure I am not as intelligent as you are, especially in your opinion.  I can see by your pattern of conversation everyone is beneath you.  You can throw around the big words It doesn't bother me. (no, I didn't look it up)

Yes, Bristol has a hard road ahead of her, but when you make a mistake you end up paying for it, but a lot of young people get through it when they have a loving family.  It just isn't all that important to me, and it shouldn't be important to you, what she named her little baby boy, it is her business.

By the way, when I used spell check you were the one with the misspelled word.  So much for intelligence and good typing.

Thank you Truth Dector for your comments.  They have been recorded and all of us have been "taught" by you.  You gave the whole department foder for our sociology project. You fall into several categories: refusing to follow directions (refused to find correct definitions of bigot, prejudice, etc) , refusing to answer questions (taught by Palin maybe), refusing to acknowledge anyone might have a differing opinion than yours, refusing to answer intelligently and instead yelling insults and lying, believing that what you read and hear and see is always, always true, refusing to believe that educated people who are teachers are allowed to have opinions too, refusing to answer any other posts on line, and finally refusing to read accurately....I said I WAS a teacher.  I'm a lawyer now. Maybe we should refuse to acknowledge you too.   I'm sure we'll find you again, under different names, or course. Until then: Please ready the posts from Science Guy on this site (especially his quotes from Failin and her comments on drop-outs).

I am so glad Bristol didn't name the baby Barack Hussein. Mind you I agree it's quite a pretty name, modern American, and the baby name pundits say it will be very big in 2009, but it's not really Alaska now is it?

Tripp now there's a name for Alaska. So cool.  I was so impressed I sent a baby card and I hope all you posters did the same.

A first grand-child for the First Family is wonderful news!

A few questions for you.  Do you know the Palin's personally?  Have you ever been to Wasilla, Alaska and talked to any of the people there?  Have you ever spoken to Sarah Palin and asked her questions up close and personal?  Or do you just get your information from the Media and the Newsvine?

I hope you have, because if you haven't then your questions are very foolish.

Yes, I have been to Alaska.  Have you?  No, I will not speak to Failin, will you?  Where do you get your information? Newspapers, Time magazine and others, books  interviews, comments and discussions here at the university are part of my information gathering. Foolish is a horrible name to call someone you know nothing about.  If you can't answer with civility and well known  facts, then please be kind enough to not to show your temper.

I don't believe I called you foolish..... an educated woman of any color would know that I called the questions foolish.

I also asked you had you ever visited Wasilla, Alaska and talked to the people there?  Have you ever talked to anyone that knows Palin on a Personal note, or have you talked to her personally and really got to know her, not something that the Media has put out in mags. newspapers, etc.

                                So judge not..........

Lets start a thread about BHO's daughter's names.......the thread would be collapsed and you know it.

Some libbys were losing their minds last night on a thread where that hideous black/red dress Michelle Obama wore was called a black widow.....they were stumbling over themselves with racist finger pointing. The designer named the dress "black widow" of course this was not disclosed to the liberals until further down the thread.
