If what we have been going through for the last eight years reflects great experience, then give me the un-experienced every time. H.W. Bush has just public ally announced he would like to see his younger son Ted elected president. He followed that announcement with his opinion that the American public has in fact had about all the Bushes they want. I almost fell of my chair from laughing from the knowledge that George W. Bush only has 14 more day to insult the American System. These Bushes have absolutely no shame at all.

Yo, Tobucks.   If you think GW is the reason we are in the mess we are in, you need to do some research.  I am the first one to admit that he is not the brightest bulb in the box, but i prefer to look at the people who REALLY, REALLY run this nation..............CONGRESS.   We can pick hairs about that statement, but if we keep Barney Frank (an insult to anyone with a brain) and his ilk in Congress year after year, we deserve what we get.   Barney Frank epitomizes what is wrong with politics.

    famous obama thoughts and comments:

I listened to Reverend Wright's sermons for twenty years, he baptized my children, but I had no idea he was a racist who hated the United States.

I worked as attorney for Tony Rezko for awhile, but I had no idea he was doing anything illegal.

I served on boards with Bill Ayers, got earmarked money for his education ideas, and started my campaign as State Senator in his home, but I had no idea he was a former domestic Terrorist....uh.....I mean I thought he had been rehabilitated....uh...I mean he was just some guy in the neighborhood.

I know Blagoyevich, but didn't know he was trying to sell off my vacant senate seat. We had not contact with him about it... uh....I mean I had no contact with him about it........I mean....uh....uh....we had no INAPPROPRIATE contact with him.

I know Bill Richardson, but had no idea he might be involved in something illegal.

What a joke, now you see the real Obama, political payoff for firing Commerce SEc, needs to payback the Mexicans! with this and Hillary, it will be a mess, wait and see,

Obama will vote not presnet, not here, not responsible, and we will have Hillary and Leon trying to find the door in the dark, Hillary has not delivered nor been responsible for anything, her claim to fame is married to Bill. and Leon? forget it, i think he was the mayor or something from Denver and got the Airport funded. Otherwise he has been missing in action, andlook at the commerce appointment? the record is looking questionable. fast,  i think lack of experince and other qualities are showing up fast.

      From NBC's Domenico Montanaro
It appears President-elect Obama forgot to tell the incoming chairwoman of the Senate intelligence committee about Leon Panetta as his choice to head up the Central Intelligence Agency.

Here's the statement from Sen. Dianne Feinstein's office:

" 'I was not informed about the selection of Leon Panetta to be the CIA Director. I know nothing about this, other than what I've read,' said Senator Feinstein, who will chair the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence in the 111th Congress.

" 'My position has consistently been that I believe the Agency is best-served by having an intelligence professional in charge at this time.'"

      OOPS!

Well my first thought is "Ya gotta be ******* kidding me" (Sorry Jean !)

Suprise choice?...not really. Everytime I start to lay aside my cynicism it is revived by another of the pe's questionable and often outright idiotic choices. I am suprised that more do not remember Panettas ineptness in California as well as the Clinton White House.

The choice for Leon Panetta as Director of the CIA is ludicrous. The CIA, like it or not , is on the front lines of gathering intelligence which can directly or indirectly protect our citizens and military from attack. The CIA was rendered ineffective under the Clinton White House, and would appear to be headed that way again. This is unfortunate as it has taken a lot of hard work to render it an effective intelligence tool since 9/11.

        Kristina-416455

All of the people who comment negatively every time a story about an Obama choice comes out are the extremely right-wing, very divisive types.  You do not represent most of this country,

Kristina I find your blind loyalty to a weak future leader troubling, and a great example of why our country is headed much further down the road to disaster. Your candidate has shown no leadership ability thus far. You seem to have gobbled the scripted rhetoric without an understanding of what was not being said. Obama's continuing foolish appointments are an indication of the pathetic leadership that half of the nation will be forced to endure by the uninformed vote of the other half. Please by all means state your points affirming peo's leadersip abilities.

Be careful what you wish for.....Unquestioned change is not good even when it is promised by a media created celebrity candidate who is more concerned with repaying political debt than of standing up for his own rhetoric which was swallowed whole, and unquestioned by his supporters.

Yes Get a clue d) the media also created Bush the Cowboy and we all know how good he has been for this country. This was the year of hard choices it was between a Visionary and a Maverick with some memory problem and so as the story goes the People have spoken and they Chose a Visionary, all we need now is the people to get out of his face and let him do his job.

Get a clue< while most of what you say is true.  The CIA was pretty F***ed up under the Bush Administrtion also.  Like most of the bad info about the pre Iraq war.  So you don't want to say too much about how bad the CIA was under Clinton.

Verno, I thought you were one that said Bush lied about WMDs. Now you're saying he had flawed info. Now we're agreeing. The intel for a lot of other countries had the same info. Not sure what happened to the WMDs. Saddam had them at one time (chemical and biological) since he used them against Iran and against the kurds. There was also the belief in US and international community that Saddam was doing his best to get nuclear program going despite sanctions in place.

WMDs probably were taken across the border to syria. If you recall September of 2007, the Israeli's bombed a site in syria that was later inspected and found to have traces of chemical and nuclear materials. There were in fact some chemical weapons found by our military in Iraq, but not in the quantity they were expecting so very little was even said about it, or probably the media chose not to even report it.

Linda, unless I'm sadly mistaken, and my civics teachers lied to me, it's our Job to get in our leader's faces.  Election to office is not a ticket on the free ride of a power trip.  Some people tore GW to pieces for doing a job that none of them could do nor want.  Yet according to you, we should all just sit back and enjoy the ride to what many feel is a disaster looking for a place to happen.  Read your Constitution and memorize it, I think we may be seeing the last days of it, as this country now seems to have more people wanting the free ride, and fewer able to give it.

Panetta is an unusual pick to be sure, but looking over his bio, he has some impressive credentials that, IMHO, support his appointment (although I am sure there are arguably other qualified persons, too, and I am not exactly giving him a ringing endorsement).

Although Panetta is not a "company man," he has worked at the highest levels in the past (in both Congress and the White House), and could bring a fresh perspective to the CIA's operations.  He isn't completely unqualified, because he was apparently the Chief of Operations and Planning in the intelligence section at Ford Ord when he was in the Army (although this is going way back a bit).

However, because he has been out of the loop for so long, he will need to cram on ongoing and planned intelligence operations.  What is more odd is why he would want this particular posting at this time, since in recent years he has been active in ocean environmental protection measures (for which he gets my applause).  But Langley is a long way from Carmel-by-the-Sea.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.  For now.

wow...talk about out of left field??!!!  Seems a little odd.

But, then again, who here really knows what qualifications are needed to run the CIA?  I'll give Obama the benefit of the doubt on this and we'll see what happens.

As for the righties who keep clamoring about old time Washington guys getting picked by the guy who pushes change....all it tells me is you guys are really desperate for something to biatch about.

Why not pick a carear CIA person who has served both...Dem and GOP presidents?..that would have been the smart pick....

Rob  why is it wrong to hold Barack Hussien to his word?..... He promised changed and competence......

Panetta is a miss on both things...

A better choice for CIA Director? Colin Powell, for starters. Maybe his old boss, Stromin' Norman? Maybe any retired member of the joint chiefs? The list of those more appropriate than that political hack is enormous!

Maybe the PE reads this stuff! How many times is he going to disappoint before he's even president?

Why doesn't he just let Hillary make the choices directly? Whydoes she have to let him make the announcements? We are in trouble and being led by the blind. How long do we have to let him stay in office before we impeach him?

We spend way too much time blaming the Clinton's and the Bush's for all the problems we have today. The hard Truth is Democrat or Republican We have not had a leader in 20 years and that includes the current choice. The United States is on the brink of disaster and I think the Obama choice is just enough to split this country in half. We knew he had no experience going in but I thought he would try instead of just handing it over to the Clinton's. We need to have another election, but this time base it on qualifications not color or party.

It's no longer an issue of partisan politics or left vs right. Although I do have to disagree on one point......... I am not sure that we have had a leader since the early 1800's. We have a ruling class embedded firmly in our nations capital. They are not going to give up their privileged lifestyles easily. People like Putin, Ahmadinejad, Chavez, and Qhadaffi are surely celerating as thehy watch the impotent circus of current U.S. politics and the incoming Clobama administartion.

Honestly I think Truman was the last President of the people. If you read the history he wasn't liked nor trusted by FDR, but the American people needed him and he came through.

I do agree though we have people who feel  like they can do what they want, then call us the electorate stupid because we do not like their policies they set. Until we vote them out and stop taking their crap, we are the stupid electorate.

Meet the new boss.  Same as the old boss.

Looks like now the same people will be in DC regardless of what we think.  Bush/Clinton/Bush/Clinton...  In some form or another, they all seem to end up in the same place after every other election.

Our government is far too corrupt and inept to be of any use to the average (read: majority) citizenry of this country.  CHANGE will come when all citizens realize this and vote for people NOT affiliated with any policical "gang".  Otherwise, CHANGE will happen when Rome falls.

Either way, CHANGE is coming.  You can bet on it.

I think we all expected more change. He could not pick all no name people. But he could certainly find a lot of honest qualified people outside of the same old crap that's been in Washington for the past 16 years. athe majority voted for change and I would love to see change. I didn't vote for Obama and am getting more and more convinced everyday that I vote the right way. I wish him well but I will not let up on him any more than the democrats let up on Bush. If he does anything good I will acknowledge it, unlike the opposition for the last eight years. Right now I haven't seen much to get excited about.

Years ago there was a saturday or sunday late night program called DC Follies.  If the last eight years haven't given us enough material the last weeks after the election surely have added enough to the file for a long run. I for one really enjoyed the program the first time around hope they start it up again.

CIA - most important weapon we have to fight Terrorists - now we have minimized and compromised this agency with a rookie.  Remember all the leaks in the Clinton White House?  Obama is getting scarier by the minute.  Now we know - Jimmy Carter II with Clinton cast.  Obama is his own man alright!  What a pool of geniuses - add Reid and Pelosi - looks like the Republicans will be back in two years!

Maybe this is Obama's way to sympathize with Hamas and Al Quida...Maybe if he can undermine the CIA with inexperienced people he will be able to sell off the rest of the USA to the ARAB and IRAQI govt.

A loyal politico with no intelligence experience to administer, but clearly not run, our intelligence apparatus. Within a month he will be talking like an expert. God help us.
