— Former New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark has become the new administrator of the U.N. Development Program.
Clark gained unanimous approval Tuesday from the 192-nation U.N. General Assembly to head the agency that oversees a global development network with an estimated $13 billion in resources. The program operates in 166 nations.
She replaces Kemal Dervis, a former Turkish Cabinet minister. She was New Zealand's prime minister from 1999 until 2008.
