Poll: Obama gets high marks for first 100 days

WASHINGTON — TON - As he enters his 100th day in office, President Barack Obama enjoys higher marks from the American public than his most recent predecessors did at similar points in their presidencies, according to the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.

More than six in 10 approve of Obama's job, nearly two-thirds view him favorably, and a majority believe he has gotten off to a solid start during his first three months on the job.

Perhaps most significantly, Americans so far find him to be likeable. More than 80 percent in the poll say they personally like Obama, even if they don’t agree with all of his policies. And respondents give him high scores on his personality, demeanor and leadership qualities.

Republican pollster Bill McInturff, who conducted this survey with Democratic pollster Peter D. Hart, says these numbers suggest “someone who is wearing well” with the public at this stage of his presidency. McInturff, in fact, even compares Obama’s early likeability to Ronald Reagan’s in the 1980s.

Yet the poll also contains a few cautionary numbers for Obama and his young administration: a growing number believe the president is liberal; a majority thinks he’s trying to take on too many issues; and there are concerns about all the government spending.

“The wind is at his back,” Hart says. But looking ahead to the next 100 days, the Democratic pollster adds that Obama might “face some pretty stiff headwinds in his future.”

Mr. Popular
Obama’s first 100 days have been marked by several highs (the economic stimulus’ passage, progress on a budget creating a framework for health-care reform, the rescue of Capt. Phillips from Somali pirates) and several lows (rising unemployment, confirmation troubles, furor at those AIG bonuses).

Despite these ups and down, the president remains quite popular. According to the poll, 61 percent approve of Obama’s job — that’s compared with George W. Bush’s 56 percent and Bill Clinton’s 52 percent at this same juncture in their presidencies.

Also, 64 percent view Obama favorably versus 23 percent who see him in a negative light — once again, higher than Bush’s and Clinton’s scores on this question.

In addition, 54 percent believe the president is off to a “great” or “good start;” 59 percent say he’s accomplished a “great deal” or a “fair amount;” and 64 percent feel more hopeful about the direction of the country with Obama in office.

What’s more, a whopping 81 percent say they like him personally (51 percent like him personally and approve of most of his policies, and another 30 percent like him personally but disapprove of his policies).

“How popular can this guy be?” Hart asks. “The answer is exceptionally popular.”

Indeed, as other recent national polls have shown, Obama’s early popularity has seemed to increase the number of Americans who believe the nation is headed in the right direction.

In the NBC/Journal poll, 43 percent say the country is on the right track, compared with an equal 43 percent who say it’s on the wrong track.

Yet that’s a 17-point jump since January, when just 26 percent believed the nation was on the right track. And it’s a 31-point increase since October 2008, when only 12 percent thought that.

“That’s an extraordinary movement,” McInturff says. “It means after 100 days that he has latitude to really govern with some potency.”

Warning signs for Obama
Still, the poll — which was taken April 23-26 of 1,005 adults (including 100 reached by cell phone), and which has an overall margin of error of plus-minus 3.1 percentage points — contains some warning signs for the Obama administration as it looks ahead to the next 100 days and beyond.

For starters, the number of Americans who view Obama as “very liberal” or “somewhat liberal” has spiked 10 points, from 49 percent in January to 59 percent now.

Moreover, 52 percent believe that the president is trying to take on too many other issues, versus 43 percent who say he has a clear and sharp focus on the economy.

And concern about the administration’s spending and the size of the budget deficit ranks in the poll as one of the public’s top two negative impressions about Obama. (Nearly seven in 10 think the budget deficit is a real number that has a direct impact on the average citizen.)

But the poll suggests a public appetite for Obama’s legislative priorities on health care and energy. By a 56-to-37 percent margin, respondents say they support expanding health insurance coverage and raising taxes on the wealthy to help pay for it.

And by a 58-to-35 margin, they favor charging a fee to companies that emit greenhouse gases — even if that will results in higher utility bills — and using that money to provide tax cuts for middle-class Americans.

A tough start for the GOP
While the poll finds that Obama is off to a solid start in these first 100 days, the same isn’t necessarily true for the GOP.

Just 29 percent have a positive view of the Republican Party, while 44 percent view it negatively — the 32nd consecutive NBC/Journal poll showing it with a net-negative rating.

By comparison, the Democratic Party has a net-positive rating, 45-to-34 percent.

Also, a majority of respondents in the poll say congressional Republicans have been too stubborn in their dealings with Obama. On the other hand, just 25 percent believe that Obama has been too stubborn, and 48 percent think the president has struck the right balance.

“While the Republicans are trying to be the loyal opposition, the public doesn’t see it that way,” says Democratic pollster Jay Campbell, who works with Hart.

And even though they’re no longer in office, the poll shows that George W. Bush (with a 26 percent positive rating) and Dick Cheney (18 percent) remain unpopular.

Mixed takes on interrogation
In the last several days, President Obama’s release of old Bush administration memos detailing controversial interrogation practices has dominated the political discussion. According to the poll, 53 percent say the United States tortured detainees, versus 30 percent who say it didn’t.

However, a plurality — 46 percent — believe harsh interrogation techniques have helped extract important information to stop terrorism. Forty-two percent say those techniques have undermined the country’s moral authority and have inflamed anger in the Islamic world.

And more than six in 10 oppose any kind of criminal investigation into whether the Bush administration committed torture.

McInturff says these findings suggest that Americans don’t want to litigate the past. “This is a country that wants to move on,” he said. “What people are saying is, ‘Bad things may have happened… But whatever happened, it is in the past.’”

It's unreal. He's borrowing money left and right, and who is going to pay for all of this borrowing? He will be long gone and the rest of us who didn't make crooked deals under the table with companies like Freddie Mac and Frannie Mae will be paying for it. This guy has an agenda and so do the rest of the sellout Democrats. Unfortunately, the Republicans are no better. Like Thomas Jefferson said, there should be a Revolutionary War about every seven years. That's because he didn't trust government (people some how and some way become corrupt if they aren't already when they get elected).

It's so sad that many in this country feel the change that we needed from the Republicans is what Obama is bringing. That is a joke and he and the rest of the Democrats have them all duped. Thomas Jefferson, where have you gone?

Most people give Obama favorable ratings in likability but his policies. He's very likable on camera. People are losing steam, as more people figure out he's just extending the Bush/Clinton agenda.

Actually a top university poli sci department recently rated accuracy of pollsters based on their actual statistics (hard numbers) of accuracy in the recent presidential election. Two were dead on--Pew and Rasmussen. This one was near the bottom--far overboard for Obama.

Now let's look at Rasmussen for the actual facts. As of day before yesterday those who "Strongly Approved" of Obama had dropped rather dramatically to 35% with those who "Strongly Disapproved" of Obama at 32% or a 3+ rating--just slightly lower than George Bush at this point in his presidency. As for those who generally approved, Obama's numbers had dropped from 1/25/09 at a 70/36 ratio to a 54/45 ratio.

The biggest losses in support are among independents. The MSM is furious and is trying to recreate reality by their own polls. Rasmussen is not partisan and the results are clear.

Rasmussen also pointed out 58% of Americans thought it was atrocious for Obama to release the CIA information that has emasculated our national security. Only about20 something thought it was the right thing to do with others not sure.

Three Days in a row with the same story with a slightly different headline. Do you think MSNBC wants us to Know we still love Obama. You would think the Headline would be something like. "airforce one scares the crap out of 1000's taking a photo opportunity" Or Maybe "Obama Refuses to Close border with Mexico Despite 100's dead" Or maybe "Obama Locks up senate with Defection of Arlen Specter. It is a one party world."

We get that you guys wanna get invited to the easter egg hunt next year but its bad enough that you blow sunshine up this guys ass everyday atleast come up with some new information rather than regurgetating a poll over and over again.

Lets see how well he is doing in a week or 2.Soon we will know how far the current bio threat will mutate.I don't think anyone we will be very happy knowing he may have helped spread it . Common put politics aside and look at what took place. Our president went to a country that a pandemic is emerging from either knowing or un-knowingly.

The first case was documented in February ,It was determined and documented to be spread by human to human contact in march. He was there in early on April 16-17.I am sure some there is documents that show the Federal government was informed by officers working in Mexico.Don't forget the whole point of the meeting was to talk of the drug problem. So there would have been extra officers on hand preparing for his vist .I am sure with all the sick people Officers took notice there trained to.Either Obama knew and went or he did not know anything either way someone has put our president at risk and in these times the last thing we need is the commander and chief being infected by a possible fatal virus By his own choosing or by someone else's failure.

Heads need to roll for this starting with the CIA and Home Land Security

People just need to understand a scientific vote and this is NOT one. When the media polls people, they go to ONE certain area where the majority is Democrat and make calls. When people understand that the media's words mean nothing, they will see that they are the criminals of society. Too many people take the media's word as Gospel. My family. We have been Republicans since the beginning of our relationship and that's over 30 years. We have been very successful in our relationship and our finances because of our Republican beliefs. When Democrats complain, they are complaining about themselves and don't realize it, because they THINK the president is going to lead them out of bondage. The only problem is, he won't. No president ever has and no president ever will. If you fail, you fail on your own. If you have beliefs of how this country should be run, and you are having hard times making ends meet, what makes you the expert on what should bring the ends together? Too many people just sit around and whine all day and night and that is why they are unable to get ahead. They want something for nothing and don't put in a days good work. they complain about other people at work and don't focus on doing their own work. That is one of the reasons they can't get ahead. they probably dropped out of high school also. If you can't go through high school, what makes you think you can handle a job? So, polls or no poll, we will live in a great lifestyle no matter what. Just to let you know, we work the government. We get free money from them. It's called Grants and we don't have to pay them back. My daughter got a grant to go in business just because she is a woman starting a business. So, don't complain. It will get you nowhere, except maybe in here complaining to others of your failure. Remember, when you complain, you are showing others you are a failure.

The only joke about this poll is this. While MSNBC was distracting everybody with this poll for the last three days, and with the CIA/intelligence fiasco last week, the democratically controlled congress is supposed to have passed the budget. It still has in it the Cap and Trade, as well as the nationalized health care. The Congression Budget Office has said that our economy cannot handle either one in it's current condition let alone both of them. But did we hear much about that. No, we have this on here for the last several days as well as an article about mama Obama being on the most magazine covers. It's an old war strategy, called "Divide and Conquer". They've got us fighting over his popularity rating while the White House and Congress just screwed every last one of us over. That's Democrats, Republicans, and independants.

Is it that you people supporting Obama think that all of us that don't support him are Bush supporters?

ARE YOU CRAZY?

Just because I don't support Obama, don't paint me with the same stupid color you paint everyone else with. It's just plain stupid. It goes to show exactly how narrominded and idiotic some people can be.

I don't support Obama because of his policies and his history. Plain and simple! It goes no further than that. His policys suck. His liberal tendencies suck. His upbringing and training will damage this country. We are in the age of Jimmy Carter on steroids.

For those of you who are too young to know Jimmy Carter - he was America's worst president. Double digit unemployment, double digit inflation, double digit mortgage rates. Kissed Iran's butt and let them hold Americans hostage for 300 days.

Obama is worse. Time will prove it. Jimmy Carter started out this way... and ended up being a disaster for this country.

This poll is absolutely ridiculous. If you read the comments on this thread, you'll see that there are about a 90% neagtive ratings on this president. Keep in mind, we're all responding to an article written by an incredibly biased media source, MSN, so it's even more alarming that the jackasses that support this president (and frequent this site) aren't defending him. If you couple the wreckless policies and lack of focus on making our country better with the uncontrollable democratic congress, you'll see that we're on a collision course with failure.

Funny, these sites aren't saying anything about the stupid move of flying a 747 over Manhatten or showcasing the absurd amount of American $ spent wrecklessly, but they're sure quick to point out the results of a survey of a 1000 people. Hmmm, how many are in the US? Is a poll of 1000 really a good indication of what we're thinking?

We've had almost 1000 comments on this site, and I bet you can't find 10 that are positve....

So when does the word impeach come into play? Sounds like it's about time to start the cause...

I KNEW there would be screaming and crying over this, like there was screaming and crying about Bush's extremely high popularity ratings (after 9/11). Losers hate to lose, and the minority needs to become the next squeaky wheel. Whenever we elect the next President, Democrat or Republican, I fully expect to hear the same level of whining from the losing side.

I love the left's response... at least he's better than Bush. How so? What has he actually done? What the HELL has Obama done to win your favor and support?

That has to be the question of the ages... what has Obama done to win support and favor from so many people? I don't get it. I simply don't understand where all this worship comes from? The guy is an empty suit! He reads a teleprompter. He doesn't have an original thought!

What has Obama done?

"The Rebulicans continue to want us (Humans), to believe this has nothing to do with racism. Yep..... Every time you people open you mouths or write a comment , you show your ugly, backwoods, trailer trash, wonder bread personality, and racist attitudes!!!"

The only racist comments I keep seeing are by liberals... Same thing happened during the tea parties.. I saw two race related comments and they were both by left leaning twits.. one a reporter on tv (cant remember the network at this momment", and the other was Janeane Garafalo saying that all of the Tea party attendees were racist with disfunctional brains. But i never saw a racist sign or heard any racist remarks from any of the Tea Partiers on the "limited" television coverage of the Tea Parties. But since you liberal sheep cant come up with a good excuse for your messiahs outragous spending bills, and hidden taxes.. I guess the racist thing is all your Kool-aid soaked minds can come up with.

Wonder how many more Republican senators are going to jump ship to the OTHER side? You guys don't get it ...your ship is sinking. That's why so many of you jump on these ships (sites) and spout your nonsense and negativity. It's a pathetic picture you are painting of yourselves. You all definatley need another approach...this is definately not working. America LIKES this president and Republicans (public and private) are changing their affliations. This poll is about popularity, and he is a likeable chap...that's what got him elected. Look under the published numbers and you find that people are separating the man from the job. 43% don't agree with the direction the country is going in under Obama and that number is growing.

I think this proves that form over substance is key to American Politics. You can pull the wool over our eyes as long as you look good doing it. What scares me about this president is the lack of depth. His telepromter goes down and he has to stop his speech...can you remember back to the RNC when Palin's prompter went down, and she was able to deliver her speech from memory? Makes you wonder doesn't it?

NBC takes it's direction from George Soros, to Immelt, then Zucker. It's pretty clear that Obama is nothing more than a mouthpiece for this group. What's most worrisome is the power that incompetent idiot Pelosi seems to have.

If some of you so called self professed American Patriots could only understand how bias, crude and deeming the posts that you put up only serves to project yourselves as ugly Americans. This, as demonstrated by some of the posts, with their slanderous and childish name calling of your present and past Presidents. This only demonstrate to the rest of the world, that you maybe the biggest and strongest nation in the world in terms of Military and Economical capacity but truly are lacking (or maybe it s inherent to your ill found beliefs that you can exercise the right to freedom of Speech, regardless of how demeaning the comments maybe.)

But where it not for having close contact with many Americans outside of the Internet and was to let myself judge the nation based solely on Newsvine, I surely would have come to the conclusions that there is something fundamentally wrong with some of you. Your expressions in many cases are better suited for Tabloids then this blog. I guess as a Nation still in its infancy, when compared to other Nations of the world, one should expect these childish behaviors. But when the Nation has grown beyond that stage and it is looked upon as a guiding light, some of the comments and expressions here, dim that light. You cannot even stay on topic and turn just about any article and twist it into personal political agenda. How can you expect respect from the World community, when some of you don’t even respect yourselves and project yourselves as a divided nation? Nations are not always judge by the many, but by the actions and comments of the few.

Fox News Polls are the complete opposite....we are more divided than liberals and the LEFT WING MEDIA that wants to kiss Obamas butt are willing to attest to. This president has already trippled our debt, weakened our armed forces, and basically sent the message out to our nations that we are less than they are..........we are America, the greatest nation in the world..........This president will not be re-elected and thank God because he is crippling our country..............I really am afraid for our nation and the majority of people here in the South are too. I've never felt this kind of fear for our country before...........its mind boggling.

But what I don't understand is what happened to the poll that MSNBC was running leading up to this article? Last I heard, Obama was running 57% negative on that poll. But MSNBC took down that page and neglected to report on it in this article.

Did McCain or Obama come to your town to campaign? If the answer is no they knew how you were going to vote and saw it as a waste of time. When you vote in a primary election they have your voting pattern.

Actually, MSNBC conducted a live poll in the last couple of days, the results were 48% graded A, 48% graded F. When you combined the A,B,C 's percentages, it was less than the D's and F's. Looks like a very divided country to me, where is the mandate?

Lots of unhappy people, too many more photo op flights and with other screw ups the government typically has, will lead this nation away from Obama. He has burnt his political capital with the spending bill (I refuse to mislabel the bill as stimulus), bailouts, apologizing for America, consorting with dictators, and an appearance of "on-the-job training".

So says BO-NBC News. Here is another view from the normal side of the spectrum. It's an article which clearly shows the hipocrasy of this entire Congress and Administration.

I couldn't just leave it alone. It was too good. Dam— this administration for providing so much material!

The Air Force One photo-op that struck fear throughout New Yorkers this morning was yet another byproduct of an administration that refuses to think things through before acting. A few words come to mind:

IGNORANT. Did nobody think of how residents and workers in lower Manhattan would perceive the sight of a low-flying commercial airliner being followed by a pair of fighter jets? Are they really so ignorant so as not to do more than simply warn the FAA and some law enforcement officials? Why did nobody think to announce, to the people of New York City, the planned photo shoot? After all, the White House seems to have a red "bat-phone" connecting right into the New York Times' editorial board room -- surely Obama could have batted his eyes and asked for a sentence on Page A-1 on Friday and throughout the weekend.

EXPENSIVE. Exactly how much money did our government have to borrow from the Chinese or from the American people in order to fund an unnecessary excursion for two fighter jets and one presidential Boeing 747? Where are the people who were so incensed that the GM, Ford and Chrysler executives spent so much money flying in private jets to testify before Congress? Was there something wrong with the prior file photos for Air Force One? I wonder if Obama was preparing photographs for another gift for a head of state -- instead of a $15 White House Gift Shop model of Marine One, perhaps he'll give some prime minister's kid a poster showing the presidential airplane.

HYPOCRITICAL. Last week, on Earth Day, the president burned through 9,000 gallons of jet fuel to fly 900 miles and talk about inefficient renewable energy. Today, assuming that carbon really is the bane of our existence, how much of it was coughed into the atmosphere by Air Force One and its fighter jet escorts? Why are so-called environmentalists so concerned with our SUVs and light bulbs, yet silent about such unnecessary pollution? Unless, of course, it's more about the transfer of wealth and not so much about the environment. Nah . . . that would be crazy.

It might have been a small detail, especially when compared with the health care program that will be pushed in through the back door this week, or with the continued erosion of common sense with regard to the Global War on Terror, and by no means do I believe that this should be a focus for more than a single evening (and a secondary or tertiary focus at that), but even details like this show how oblivious this White House is to matters foreign and domestic, and how disconnected they are with the reality of global terrorism.

Not to mention how the press did a quick change from "Obama WOWs the Globe" (also known as "The 2009 Apology Tour") to "Bush Should Be Tried for Slapping Killers".......

When Obama made a complete ass out of himself and the US overseas (the Hugo Chavez meeting, giving the queen an IPOD with his speeches, etc.) the press repeated (and in unison) used the term "rock star" to describe his reception.

Tommy Teleprompter hasn't had an original thought in over 100 days.

This is the 3rd article in 3 days saying he is doing well with 3 different poll results. None of them consistent with the other. I love the high poll #'s for the fluff questions. 80 % personally like Obama? What the hell is that? Has he been over for dinner with all these folks. What the hell do these people know about him personally. Hell, we can't even get a birth certificate out of this clown.

Where's the article about how much safer we are, now that we don't INTIMIDATE the terrorists that try to kill and blow us up.

Because he doesn't think it is "cool" or politically correct to use enhanced interrogation techniques ( that all former CIA directors has said worked and saved American lives ), he publicly announced the limits our professionals are allowed to go. Sucessful interrogation requires an unknown, we just eliminated that and made ourselfs less capable of preventing future attacks.

Now there is screaming for prosecution of the former administration. Can't wait for the "progressive" pinko left to set a precedence on that. That way, when we get hit again (it's a matter of time and the right "soft" target), we can prosecute all of them for failing to protect the American people (their constitutional duty).

And what kind of FBI director do we have? Shades of Janet "Waco" Reno. Is his head really buried in the sand (read clueless) or is he just lying outright by saying the techniques didn't work. Lots of lying and burying of the head in the sand going on (read locked up where the sun don't shine). And the "not from this planet" Janet "homeland director" labeling the returning war vets as right wing extremists. Between her apparent "anti veteran attitude" and the unworkable situation in Afghanistan, the old feelings of Vietnam are coming back. Where we crap on our vets, and fight a politically correct war in the bias media.

Face it, the Republican party is dying and won't even make it to the next election. If you like polls so much why are the Republicans showing a barely 20% support? Keep posting....I like comedy.

Excellent display of intelligence. It is apparent that you chose your words carefully and really thought through what you were going to say. I am impressed that a liberal can spell as well as you do. It is a great thing that this administration sends its' messages out to the masses via a Pee-Wee Herman format, so that smart liberals - like you - can understand his pontifications. Haa Haa Pontificate is the magic word of the day! Now its time to dance. Have a happy day Bernie...

Why would you call any one a loser really - what has this man done i mean it has been 100 days and i am no better off than i was 200 days ago, in fact my family is in worse shape.

I could care less what the rest of ther world thinks of us or holding their hands and taking care of them i am more concern with my family and whether or not we have a future.

So please explain to me how this person in the white house has done such a great job? When does the country move on like he promised? When is he going to stop blaming Bush for all these problems? When he is going to be his own man?

Since I'm sure that you took stats in school, you do realize that Barry has a 90% approval rating among Democrats? I doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that if the poll were conducted in a "blue state", Barry's overall numbers would be higher than if the poll were conducted in the Bible belt. Among the GOP faithful, Barry's approval rating is barely over 25%. If you average out the two, Obama is around 58% positive!

No, we wouldn't. BUT we would like to have a President who knows what he's doing. Can't even give a speech without a teleprompter. Driving hard working taxpayers into the ground. Putting their grubby fists all over the private sector. This country is sinking fast because so many idiots voted for the 1st time in their life. And they voted on color and personality, not issues. I think they must poll about 10 people from a coast somewhere, or his hometown. Maybe it should be on a ballot and let EVERYONE take the poll. But that would be an honest poll, not something the media is wanting...

You're the loser! You are giddy over an NBC/wall street poll? Now really think about the NBC part of that(Obamaland). Obama's internals are terrible(soemthing they didn't showcase for you dems!) The 80% is a likeability factor, not his performance! They like him personally! He has the gift of gab and rhetoric!

FYI: the poll doesn't tell you his job performance is on par with all the other presidents(Carter,Bush1,Clinton and Bush2). You see the tiny bit of info they left out of their insignificant poll is that he is also the most polarizing president in history(80% of republicans can't stand the guy, independents are also disliking him, as are the investors and small business people). Those are the numbers, look them up! Obama is charming and modern, but that doesn't cancel out his lack of leadership, incompetency and overall average intelligent(look that up too!)

A new car doesn't stay new for four years, does it!

He will be a one term president!

It's funny...I used to come in here and get a wide variety of opinions. Lately, it seems like all of the wingnuts have decided that this is a fun place to hang out. Just wondering if it was Rush or Sean who gave the marching orders to post negative and hateful remarks on every single article about our current President...who, by the way, has had all of 100 days to try to clean up the mess that the previous administration caused over 2920 days.

looks like the polls are really even steven. Look for a change in a year when everyone's fed up with the photo ops and rhetoric. People are gullable, but also have a short memory. Media loves him now, but won't be able to ignore a story when the time comes.

You can fool some of the people some of the time. But you can't fool all of the people all of the time. (It goes something like that?)

Apparently you can fool a bunch of people if you have a 747 and a couple of f-16s. and a bunch more if your a senator from Pennsylvania that used to be a democrat but then became a republican and now is a democrat again.

It really irritates you guys that Fox has that slogan doesn't it. That makes me happy every time I hear it. Oh by the way in the latest poll fox news had the highest ratings so that means more Americans get their news from fox.

I love it too that fox is refusing to air the speech obama is given tomorrow night to tell us how well he is doing and that he is such a swell guy.

I am so sick of the press at least when Bush or Clinton messsed up Fox called them on it so I say Obama is fair game. I just wish this outlet and Cnn would get their heads out of his butt and give it to us straight.

At least Fox asks honest questions about Mr. Obama's presidency and offers constructive criticism. One must get tired of hearing MSNBC overlook policy to play kiss ass 24/7.

FOX's polling is close to these numbers what in the heck is your beef. FOX and the WSJ are bnoth owned by Rupert Murdoch a staunch conservative what part of this do you not understand. If the poll is rigged it is rigged by a conservative who is rigging polls to make a democrat look better. Where does that logic make any sense to anyone. You people go ahead and make damn fools of yourself and the people who are trying to help the country get back on its feet will continue to work for this country not sit around at computers cutting and pasting snarky grade school remarks that show what fools you actually are.

Well my poll numbers show that it only takes me 10 seconds to post a comment after I have worked another double shift to support my family because the Government cost me half of my 401K. Maybe you should do a poll on how long it takes people to post and then revise your comments.

Rupert Murdoch is not a staunch conservative in fact he is quite the opposite. Do a little tiny bit of research into the man. Just because he owns a conservative station doesn't mean he is conservative himself. And yes I admit fox has a conservative bent but I like hearing the truth so I will stay tuned to all those fox conservatives. I even Like Shepherd Smith and I think he may be a little left leaning.

...most significantly Americans find him to be likeable...

And that, in a nutshell, explains why so many are willing to let him ruin our republic. The dems have always had one eye on their approval ratings while making important decisions, at least since Clinton. Obama has mastered the cult of personality and mindless lemmings follow him to the brink. Let's hope they stop before going over the edge. They'll be there within a year at the current rate of destruction.

i would like to also know where these polls are conducted. if they are true it proves that the dumbing down of America continues. it is no wonder our schools are doing poorly. the parents can't see anything even when it is in their faces so how in the world does anyone expect them to be good parents? of course, a liberal's answer to this would be to pour more money into the school system a smart person's answer would be to start holding the parents responsible for their children.

This doesn't include the fact that most of the people in the survey have a 5th grade education and rely on the goverment for a check and food stamps. Most sit around all day and watch the MEDIA REPORTS ON THE MESSIAH!!! Then they watch Jerry Springer and a few lib judge shows and more news from the Messiah. After that they cook some of the King Crab Leggs they bought with the food stamps Everything the Messiah says is truth and for our good. He loves us.

Besides NBC campaigned for Obama. Their whole exsistance is for the Messiah. They are his mouthpiece their god.

The persons with the 5th grade educations are those that supported McCain and Bible Spice and Joe the Plumber. Look at the crowds during the campaign...Look at the states that carried Obama, it sure wasn't the gun toting rednecks that followed McCain and Palin. You all got your butts kicked and cannot stand it, that he is now doing what he said he would all along. Inspite of your hateful ways.

Yes, look at the states that carried Obama, there are a large number of dropouts and drug dealers in the innercities in those states. I'll have to admit that Obama definitely has a way to influence others with words, but at least I can still think for myself unlike the people that voted for him. Just a matter of time before the US is wholly owned by the peoples republic of china. Oh well, with the direction we're going with all this liberalism, communism is just a short hop.

lynn-410457 - talk about being a bigot - how dare you! You have no understanding of the south or the people. For your information my family (all of them) are college educated and made damn good money, and took care of their own and did not expect a hand out everytime things go bad. Also a little FYI their college was paid for not with government money or hand outs.

Not all people from the south are Bible Spice or Joe the Plumber you have been watching far to much tv and need to get out in the world other than the one you are living in at the moment.

As for guns - you are damn right i have one and proud of the fact. Before you go spoutting off about people you no nothing about I would suggest in the future you visit the places you are claiming to know so much about so the next time you will not look like a fool.

Did you see the piece that O'Reilly aired when they had a guy at the GE shareholders meeting recently? This guy took GE's CEO to task regarding the shoddy and overtly biased reporting regarding the TEA parties. Not surprisingly, Immelt didn't have an intelligent answer. Yet GE can't figure out why ratings keep dropping...

Yet NBC and MSNBC did support Obama behind the scenes in addition to favorable coverage. It turns out that the parent company of the networks, GE, happens to be lobbying for some FAT government contracts right now, including energy credit brokering. They stand to rake in billions if Obama gives the OK for the work!

Look at the crowds during the campaign...Look at the states that carried Obama, it sure wasn't the gun toting rednecks that followed McCain and Palin. You all got your butts kicked and cannot stand it, that he is now doing what he said he would all along. Inspite of your hateful ways.

Just cigarettes and moonshine. Halajeau. Get your bible out folks, the natives and lefties are not buying it anymore we need another tactic to keep them in line, by God. LOL Lord have mercy. I think they have been waiting a long time to get this off their chests so let them roar. I bet half of them voted secretly for Obama but would not dare let their neighbors know it because it would be breaking the code. LOL Oh my God. If they are this outraged at Obama, where the heck where they when Bush was screwing up the country so bad it make take devine providence to fix it, if it can even be fixed. But they don't want anyone to try, especially a person of color, who "obviously" can not be that smart. It MUST be a smokescreen to them because their little minds cannot handle it. LOL.

And David, sorry you feel so disinfranchised. He is our president, and he is doing a good job with the mess Bush left him to deal with. I can do this all day so no that is not all. I worked 35 years in a world that sterotyped people for the color of their skin, not ever based on their abilities. So that is the world your kind created but now let's not go there! It's a free country the last time I checked, so now calling it the race card when your kind have used it to their benefit for the last 400+ years. Call it what you want.

And for all of you to get on here, and tell me I do not know what I am talking about, you need to look in the mirror and see who does not know what they are talking about. The majority of Americans both black and white, decided in November, we were tired of the old ways of hate and meaness and voted that out. This tide will continue. Now you can deny it all you want, but it will not change the fact, that it happened. Who is your leader in your party? Step back, and examine it and you will see if you are honest with yourselves, there is no way, you could win anything with the chaos and disruption in the GOP. My Mother, who is dead now, would turn over in her grave, if she could see what your incompetent leaders have done to the party that she loved and voted with all her life.

The only polls that matter are those that survey VOTERS. NBC/WSJ poll did NOT survey voters. I suppose you can create some poll results and a resulting story with just about anything. I'll bet that these so-called 'important' people surveyed had not yet heard of the Air Force One debacle in NYC.

Probably the only good poll that reflects the true America is Gallup and they don't show Obama looking great. It is always strange when you go to any public non-political event and people talk politics they usually always reflect that Obama is doing a terrible job and most do not trust him at all - strange where the liberal polls find all these Obama lovers - they don't seem to be on the streets of America - maybe "Inner" city streets.

Polls are, after all, truly advertising gimmicks to "sell" the actions of Mugabe, I mean Obama, no matter how far from his promises they are. We did not "immediately" pull out of Iraq, use diplomacy in Afghanistan, "create a million" jobs, make friends of North Korea, or any of the campaign promises made. We have seen five seperate actions facilitating the infanticide the party loves so well. We have seen thousands of jobs lost by cancellation of the Rockies oil and gas developments and offshore oil and gas developments started in the last few years, as well as cancellation of the mountain top coal mining projects going on for 30 years! We have seen the 3 trillion dollars debt put down for our children and grandchildren. Well, I guess if he lies it is all right for the pollsters to lie, also! BHO does not seem to be able to read the truth! Is it the teleprompter's fault?

Yet despite the nuclear waste, nuclear power is a clean (emissions), proven alternative to fossil fuel power plants. In addition, the nuclear power is more reliable and cheaper than current green energy technology. The bigger problem with green power is the "NIMBY" mentality from Greenpeace and the Sierra Club; must protect mother earth!

Why do you think the sea captain is calling the seals the hero. The decision to take out the pirates was made by the commander on scene (COS) under SOP. Obama was stalling for the FBI to get there (that's why the first escape attempt by the captain was not successful), because Obama doesn't trust the military.

If I heard the same group on this site saying that their approval rating was based only on the opinions of people in Harlem, Inner cities and Acorn. You bettcha ....I would call that rascist. So please listen...It is not that you disagree with the policies of this President.

If you do you do not understand statistics . This is based in race, and the dream of MLK was that race would not count at all, not in a negative or a positive way: what was that line? Democrats formed virtually all of the ante bellum governments in the south and continued to try to enslave and "keep blacks in their place" ever since. One of the leading Democrats in the Senate is a well-known former KKK Grand Kleagle (Robt. Byrd). Yet blacks continue to vote Democratic. There is a disconnect here...continually voting for the people who continually try to put you down...I can't say what that says about blacks, but it does not sound complimentary!
