— Stocks rebounded Thursday as investors hunted for bargains among beaten-down financial and technology stocks. The market's gains were limited, however, by a government report showing a larger-than-expected jump in last week's new claims for unemployment benefits.

The Dow is down 243.33, or 2.8 percent.
The S&P is down 36.16, or 3.9 percent.
The Nasdaq is down 49.79, or 2.9 percent.
For the year:
The Dow is down 445.07, or 5.1 percent.
The S&P is down 10.18, or 1.1 percent.
The Nasdaq is up 112.18, or 7.1 percent.
