So the Republicans are even going to be the party of "no" when it comes to funding the wars they started...Interesting.

All that rhetoric about the troops not getting body armor etc must not apply when a Democrat is in office.

My son is one of those soldiers not getting enough body armour. He was in Iraq for a year and did not have enough equipment to keep the 3 blackhawks in his company in the air. They kept 2 of those helicopters in the air by "cannibalizing" the 3rd blackhawk.

He worked supply as a pfc in S. Korea and they never, during his 14 months there, had enough body armour for every soldier in his camp. His job was to make sure every piece of armour was returned after every "live" fire practice conducted by any company. There was only enough equipment/armour for one company at a time.

And now he's headed to Afghanistan--a war that should have been finished several years ago. So far it appears that our soldiers are receiving all they need, but we'll be watching. There is no excuse for any soldier or their family member to not have the best our country can provide. And as far as UnAmericanLiberal goes, rhetoric doesn't apply in this situation, but TRUTH does. And the truth is that America is only as strong as its weakest link. And if that weakest link is our military, then we are all headed down the path to chaos and destruction. In my mind, politics don't belong in the military. Anyone who uses them for their own political gain, should be tried for treason. Our country doesn't need a military-led coup.

Oh, and all those no votes on either side tells the real tale of what our government is about. Those no votes were cast to embarrass the president and congress. They figured out the bill would pass anyway, so they cast their "no" vote to make a point. It seems to me that the point made was that they don't believe in America, or its soldiers. Too bad. Each of these soldiers is a voter, and if they remember who votes against them and their families, they might have a say in the next election. And if I was one of those negative congressmen, I'd be very frightened.
