Man allegedly drenches wife with hose for smoking

JENSEN BEACH — Authorities said a man has been charged with domestic battery after he drenched his wife with a garden hose and elbowed her for smoking in the house. An arrest report shows that the 51-year-old husband was charged Saturday. Police said the couple began arguing when the wife began smoking a cigarette in their home.

When the victim picked up the phone and began calling a friend, authorities said the husband believed she was trying to call police and elbowed her in the mouth during a struggle to grab the phone.

The woman was soaked with water when deputies arrived. The husband told deputies he had been watering the grass and did not intend to spray her.

The man was taken to the Martin County Jail and released after posting bond.

This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

Well I suppose getting drenched with water is a lot better than him setting her on fire for smoking.

I thought the title was funny until I read the article.

He should not have elbowed her, the drenching is ok, if it's hot outside.

But, he got arrested for elbowing her. It does not say if he did not want her to smoke because he cared for her health or because he just did not want the house to smell like cigarrettes?!

Maybe it wasnt him elbowing her on purpose. It says it happened while struggling to take the phone away from her. It could have been an accident she got popped in the face. Nonetheless, its her own damn fault for smoking in the house. Kinda funny he soaked her with the hose. I wonder if he actually brought the hose into the house to soak her.

Rule No. 1- If you are smoking in the house, you had better be on fire!

I guess she didn't appreciate being bothered by his second hand lawn watering.
