OAS: No negotiations on Honduras president return

GEORGETOWN — The No. 2 official with the Organization of American States says the group is seeking the "unconditional" return of the ousted president of Honduras.

Assistant Secretary General Albert Ramdin also says the OAS will send a delegation to Honduras to seek a diplomatic resolution to the crisis sparked by the military's removal of Honduran President Manuel Zelaya.

But Ramdin told The Associated Press on Thursday that the mission would not be discussing concessions because it wants Zelaya back home under "safe and unconditional circumstances."

He spoke during a meeting of Caribbean leaders in Guyana.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

Was this a meeting of Caribbean Communist Leaders, or people who seek democracy in all regions of the World? Nobody with a little bit of common sense should ask Honduras to take this communist back as their president. He is not wanted by the Honduran people. If everybody seeks to keep Hugo Chavez happy, then send Mr Zelaya to Venezuela. He can then keep his master happy.

The OAS and the UN must accept the decision of Hondurans and accept the new president elect, Mr Roberto Micheletti.
