CAMDEN — Officials say a cocoa processing center in New Jersey was operating illegally when a worker fell into a vat of melting chocolate and died.
Camden cited Lyons & Sons Inc. for not having a business license after Vincent Smith II died Wednesday. Authorities say the 29-year-old was hit by a mixing paddle.
Company spokesman Kevin Feeley says that it's a misunderstanding and that Camden officials knew the firm was operating in the former Campbell Soup plant.
The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the death.
The Food and Drug Administration is monitoring the plant to make sure chocolate that came into contact with the victim does not get shipped.
OUCH! But what a way to go.... Death by chocolate!
I know it's wrong, and let me apologize before hand, but my mind initially thought of Augustus Gloop from Willy Wonka...I know...going to hell for even joking about it - sorry.
Augustus Gloop! Augustus Gloop!
The great big greedy nincompoop!
Augustus Gloop! So Big and Vile!
So greedy, foul, and infantile
'Come on!' we cried, 'The time is ripe
To send him shooting up the pipe!
But don't, dear children, be alarmed;
Augustus Gloop will not be harmed
Augustus Gloop will not be harmed!
Although, of course, we must admit
He will be altered quite a bit
Slowly, wheels go round and round,
And cogs begin to grind and pound;
We boil him for a minute more,
Until we're absolutely sure
Then out he comes! And now! By grace!
A miracle has taken place
A miracle has taken place
This greedy brute, this louse's ear,
Is loved by people everywhere!
For who could hate or bear a grudge
Against a luscious bit of fudge?
Too soon?
Yeah, but BWAAAAAHAHAHA
Did he drown or burn or both. I'm morbidly curious.
Cracked his head on the agitator, apparently.
Wow.... To go to heaven with that on your death-resume.....
St. Paul: Reason of death?
Chocolate worker: Ummm, can I just say it in your ear...?
I've heard of chocoholics joking about death by chocolate in a positive way, but I never thought I'd read about something like this. Poor guy. This is really unfortunate.
