Seymore Hersch, like so many outside the corrupt corporate media is and was ignored when he said that the Bush administration, and under Cheney had his own personal death squad, EXTRA JUDCIAL MURDEROUS POLICIES, like the Zionist, ISRAELI and American Empire covert judicial NAZI, fascist foreign policies, that always denied their criminality, but now are exposed as CRIMINAL WESTERN FASCIST/ZIONIST THUGS.

9-11 changed a lot of things in this country and not everything that the CIA does is going to be briefed to Congress. From what I can gather it appears that this program would get going and then because of budget restrictions it would be stopped, then something would come up and somebody would remember this "old ass program that had promise", and then someone else would be put in charge and shut it down.

More than likely it never yielded any results and thus didn't warrant Congress being briefed. It was one of those things that when asked the VP said something in the order of, "Let's get something to show them first."

I give President Bush and VP Cheney the benefit of the doubt. They were in charge when 9-11 happened and no matter what anybody has to say, that just isn't an easy thing to live with. I don't think there is anybody in our country who would have wanted to be a Politician on the day of 9-11 including President Bush. I believe and always will that on that day we changed but something has happened and it's like 9-10 again.

We don't believe in our Politicians, you hate the right, I hate the left, and though it makes great comedy it just isn't funny. At least not anymore. If I met you in a shop or came across you in the bookstore we could be good friends. The best thing Obama could do is get in front of the world and say, "From 9-11 to current I pardon President Bush and his administration for all crimes that may come up. It is my firm belief that our President did what he thought was in the best interest of this country. He did it to protect us and continuing to look back does us no good. We must move forward as a group and to never look back but always continue to move forward. Republican, Democrat, all of that is just names but who we are... who we really are is American, and the only ones who can take that from us is us. I don't know if this is in the book. In 1953 a scientist (Frank Olson) working for the governmnet on chemical warfare had died from a fall from his hotel room. During the Ford presidency it was learned that, the CIA had slipped him LSD, the person sharing the hotel room with him was a CIA operative, and he was considered a security risk because he was having a hard time justifying the type of work he was doing for the governmnet. After these facts were made public President Ford promised the family the truth would come out, and ordered an investigation into Frank Olson's death. The two people in Ford's staff who did everything in their power to keep information from the family the president promised full disclosure to, the public, and even those doing the investigation were Cheney, and Rumsfeld! If Obama is all he claims to be, and promised in his campaign. He'll take steps to prosecute Cheney if he broke any laws at any time during his tenure to make sure the penalty of doing so is too terrible to even think about for present, and future elected officials and their staff! Now we know why Cheney thought the presidential office's powers were too limited to "legalities" in the constitution, and the bill of rights!

I am not excusing it at all- I just think we need to put it into perspective- Bay of Pigs , Laos , Cambodia, Atomic Nuclear Tests with our people as guinea pigs, LSD testing - all down in secret without knowledge at the time and all , by the standards of today, more than a bit illegal/immoral.

Did a CIA Program start and then stop and was never told to Congress? I believe so. I am sure there was many programs that were started and stopped that were never told to Congress. I am sure this one program was started and then stopped many times over the years and I am sure Cheney is scratching his head wondering which one it was. I want Congress to be briefed on all Programs showing substance but those that don't and are shut down or just in the initial testing phases I wouldn't. I don't want Congress to be micro-managing our Goverment or trying to run a war. To much Politics and things just wouldn't get done.

There is a much bigger story here and that is Nancy Pelosi and protecting her after she stated the CIA lied to her about the Water Boarding of the three Terrorist that were in our hands. Do I think she was briefed? She was the head of the House and at that period of time we were still angry with the terrorist. I'm sure she made no objections to the water boarding of those terrorist. Now that it has become a Politically hot topic, and she has been caught screaming and yelling about it, she is caught with her pants down.

So, we are at the next big "Witch Hunt" to burn the Witch that really is turning our children into sexual deviants. Nobody likes Cheney so he makes an easy target. He's the big bad witch and must burn for his crimes. "Drown him! Burn him! Kill him!" the mob screams but hold on for a second what about the nice old lady who seems to always be taking another child into her hut for hours at a time. I and the vast majority of Democrats weren't happy when Speaker Pelosi took impeachment off the table. The Republicans impeached Clinton over zippergate while we sat by and watched Bush/Cheney destroy the Constitution.

Clinton lied under oath. He also lied directly to the everyone on TV... And then there was the blue dress. Scooter Libby is in jail for the same offense. Clinton was disbarred.

As Clinton was disbarred - his actions were a greater violation of the Constitution than anything Bush/Cheney have been convicted of doing.

President Obama's use of Czars is a true violation of the Constitution. The Constitution has no Czars. Czars are simply cabinet positions without congressional approval.

I do write a lot but only on the things I feel most strongly about. I try and explain where I am coming from, why I feel the way I do, and in the best way I can. I also try to be thought provoking and to give people a feeling that I really do care what they have to say about this subject because I do care. Usually, these subjects are areas that I could be moved from one position or the other or people have such heavy opinions on the topic that I find it interesting.

I would like to find out more on the Program and how succesful it was before I can call for the heads of anyone. I think that certain Democrats are playing a very dangerous game and it's been noted that over half of the Democratic Party in Congress is keeping very far from giving an opinion on the matter.

Unless we uncover a pit a mile deep filled with the corpses of innocent people murdered directly on the orders of GWB, I guarantee you, America's reputation will not suffer irreparable damage.

As things stand, there are only a few categories of countries left in the world. There are powers like China and Russia with an atrocious track record in the realm of human rights. They envy the U.S., are among the first to condemn any U.S. military action, then act bewildered when anyone points out their sheer hypocrisy.

There are the harmless countries (Fiji, Madagascar, New Zealand ) that will never be global economic or military powers, but they breathe a sigh of relief that the U.S. will protect them if push comes to shove.

Then there are the perpetual gripers like Iran, Venezuela, Syria, and N. Korea that hate the U.S. and the "West" because we refuse to kowtow to their dogsh!t regimes or regard their totalitarian systems as worthy of one iota of respect.

The sooner the world puts the hurt on countries like these, the better.

Major a$$beatings worked for Japan and Germany during WWII, and today they are among our closest allies.

Since we have had our hands entirely full with Iraq, and Afghanistan is going to have to be pulled back from the brink, I think it would be really presumptuous for us to think that we could give any nation a major a$$beating--short of nuking them, and I seriously doubt that will happen.

I agree with you on the "mile deep grave" thing. I think the cat is already out of the bag. All the damage to our reputation that was going to be done, has already been done. Fortunately, the world pretty much accepts that when we elect a new president, the slate is wiped somewhat clean.

With America it always depends on the reason. If the people in America believe in the cause they can kick anyone's ass in anything. Right now Al-Queda is realizing that fact and they have even written a book about how bad they are getting destroyed. There is a perception that our hands are filled with Iraq and Afghanistan because we are actually fighting three wars. The Korean War never ended and thus we have troops over there fighting that war. They're not doing anything but we are staffed as if we are currently fighting that war. We have enough troops in Europe to hold off a major Russian attack and enough troops in Japan to make China rethink any actions.

Our current troop levels in Afghanistan are about what we have in South Korea. I believe that our current Millitary Levels are 140k Iraq, 25k South Korea, 25k Afghanistan, 10k-15k Japan, and around 50k Europe.

The Senate and The House are just now deliberating "Articles of Impeachment" so he will not receive his almost $200,000. annual salary. I honestly don't know. I will have to research. Dammed good topic for discussion though.

I do like my political science professor's definition of government: "the institution that wields a monopoly on the legitimate use of force." Too many liberals ignore this definition of government.

This is as astonishingly twisted assertion as I've read here today.

I think your definition of liberal is entirely inadequate. As a consequence your characterizations are oversimplified and lack understanding of what being liberal is all about.

Now, regaarding "U.S. dominance in science, technology, and economics," it has been the Republicans that cut schooltaxes, that cut grants to univerisities, that block federal contributions to scientific research because it isn't in keeping with their religious beliefs, that still refuse to accept the otherwise universal belief that climate change is real, and that according to the CIA poses a real and immediate security threat to our country.

It was the economic policies of the last administration that put us in a collosal economic hole and at a disadvantage to countries like China, and that was before the crash. It was the foreign policies of the past administration that antagonized so many nations that had once been our allies. Take a look at who fought with us in the first Gulf War and did not in the second. Without close relationships with other nations of the world, we cannot hope to get control of terrorism.

The last administration had the opportunity to deal the proverbial "death blow to terrorism," and they blew it, thrice. First they short-armed the invasion of Afghanistan, allowing bin Laden and his organization to slip thorugh their fingers. Second they short-armed the campaign in Afghanistan, not only failing to apply sufficient effort to destroy the Taliban and al Qaeda there, but allowing a resurgance. And third, invading Iraq, resulting in the deaths of 4000 Americans, who knows how many tens of thousands of innocent Iraqis, and costing Americans over half-a-trillion dollars, weakening our economy, weakening our international standing, and weakening the resolve and morale of the American people.
