The late singer had eight siblings, three children and two ex-wives, plus numerous doctors, advisers, and famous friends. Here's a look at who's who.

— If all goes according to plan there will be not one, but two tribute concerts for Michael Jackson at London’s O2 Arena this August. The date for the first is Aug. 29, which would have been Jackson’s 51st birthday.

“As the schedule stands right now, there will be a second show on August 30,” said a source involved with the scheduling.

Jackson’s brothers, Jermaine, Jackie, Tito and Marlon, have been involved in “every part of the concerts’ planning process” according to the source, and they have good reason to be: they’ll be performing at the shows, too. Expect to see the Jackson 4 perform a medley of the Jackson 5’s greatest hits.

A plan to do a tribute show was first announced at a meeting of “This is It” tour cast and crew on June 27. At that meeting, tour director Kenny Ortega told the cast and crew that the memorial concert would be “what Jackson would have wanted.”

According to the current schedule, rehearsals will take place in Los Angeles the first two weeks of August, and they’ll move to London the week before the concerts.

AEG has yet to make an official announcement confirming the plans.

Family can’t control Jackson footage
An auction of film rights to the rehearsal footage of Michael Jackson’s “This is It” tour is underway, and Jackson’s family won’t have a substantive say in where the footage lands.

According to Variety, Sony Pictures Entertainment is about to close a deal with concert promoter AEG. Bids for the movie rights were at a reported $50 million and television rights at $10 million, according to Deadline Hollywood Daily.

Although AEG is clearly trying to recoup some costs, the Jackson estate stands to benefit from any financial success that comes from the deal. So why isn’t the family involved? Because no family members are administrators of Jackson’s estate.

On July 13, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge denied Katherine Jackson’s request to be named a third administrator for the estate, alongside her son’s longtime business partners John Branca and John McClain. That leaves Branca and McClain “at the helm of the ship,” in the words of Judge Mitchell Beckloff who signed the order, which expires on Aug. 3.

Branca and McClain have control over new business agreements and contracts that relate to the estate, and a judge then has to approve any new deals. While it sounds strange that Jackson’s family might not have a say in what happens to the final concert footage, it does move the decision-making process along.

“The fact that Katherine Jackson is, for all intents and purposes, out of the decision-making except that she must be kept reasonably informed, should, in theory, make the settlement of the estate move more quickly,” said Patrick Krill, a Los Angeles-based attorney. “And that should apply to business decisions that would clearly affect the value of the estate, including the potential rehearsal footage deal.”

Another point of interest: When the Jackson estate makes money, so do Branca and McClain. “In addition to out-of-pocket expenses to manage and settle the estate, executors of the estate are entitled to a statutory fee of 2-4 percent of the probate estate,” Krill said. And don’t worry about Jackson’s debts impacting that percentage. “Under California law, the fee is calculated on the value of the assets; liabilities are ignored,” said Krill.

Reps for the Jackson family and AEG did not comment by press time.

Paula Abdul out of ‘Idol’?
Paula Abdul’s manager told the Los Angeles Times that “it does not appear that (Paula’s) going to be back on ‘Idol,’” because she hasn’t received a new contract from the show’s production companies, FreemantleMedia and 19 Entertainment.

Come on, “American Idol,” you don’t want to protect the only unpredictable part of your show, which happens to be the only part that reliably makes for good television? Your idea of really shaking up the formula is to give judges the ability to save a singer, yet you’re willing to lose one of the original judges? Really? This notion is confounding and makes my head hurt, which is why I’m not buying it.

The timing is just too suspect. First, we’re hearing about this from Abdul’s manager, when scores of loose lips could have leaked information about a real right of refusal situation once one became apparent. Also, this announcement comes on the heels of reports that Ryan Seacrest just signed a three-year deal worth a reported $45 million.

Abdul has done plenty to make us think she’s riding the crazy train, but not fighting for more money when Seacrest might be making $15 million a year would mean she’s bought a one-way ticket.

So for now, sure, there’s no contract. At least there’s no contract that’s acceptable. In the meantime, I await the news announcing that she’s coming back.

What's Wrong With Hazlett's Column Today:

1. MJ. All right Hazlett - you've had your fun. And your vacation. It's back to work for both of us. But don't worry, it's not too bad for a Monday column. I'm willing to put up with SOME of the MJ crap, but not a lot. You're on notice, GOT IT? We really don't care about the minutia of who's controlling what here. They're all going to make a ton of money. And that's news, how?

2. Abdul/AI. I wish you'd decide which side of this story you're going to report, report it and STICK TO IT. Over these many months it would seem you've reported every whisper and rumor about her. But you're morphing into something we're only beginning to see here - we first saw it with your OK! Magazine/MJ piece. You've got an opinion and you're starting to tell us about it. Good. You can count on us giving you our opinion back - or continuing to give you our opinion to be more precise.

All right - I hope you enjoyed your vacation, but it's OVER. You're probably asking yourself when am EYE going on vacation. I took a month in April, so you've got a little while before you get a break from me. In any event, you get a "C-" for this effort. I KNOW you can do better.

BRING ME THE HEAD OF JANET JACKSON FOR SEPARATING FROM HER HUSBAND AND WANTING THE KIDS!

I could EAT pen and paper and PUKE a better column.

More of the arrogant theft that labeled America as the worst infidels in the world. What right does any court have to deny administratorship to the family of a decedent, unless it was by his/her strict wishes and instructions. NO lawyer, business partner or administration has greater rights to an esate than the natural heirs...his family. This is simply more heritage theft by US Officials. The Jackson's should retain control of Michael's estate and should be warranted with the responsibility to settle his debts. Once again the courts have overstepped their boundary.

Good points, Jmdona, but do you think that maybe the court was trying to do everybody a favor by limiting control to the business partners , with Katherine Jackson being the main contact person for the family?

The Jacksons probably would have imploded trying to square things away with MiJac's estate, especially with Joe thinking that he would be in charge. I don't think the judge intentionally overstepped, I think the intent was to prevent a meltdown that would have otherwise dragged on for years and years (instead of just a long time).

Katherine wanted to be named executor for the gigantic fees it pays, 6% of gross. She isn't qualified to be an executor, she would have to assign her duties to attorneys and the estate would have to be those too. On the other hand, I don't know whether the named executors are qualified or not, I do know that their status will make them megamillionaires whether they lift a finger or not and that concerns me. Alas, folks out there reading this, keep in mind that executors make their money ahead of your heirs; either limit or delete the fees to executors which can be done in the will or make sure that whomever you appoint is worthy of the task.

As I understand it MJ's Will that was filed with the court named the executors of the estate. Katherine Jackson, or others from the family, wanted to have the control because they felt they should. Also in the will is a clause that states in part that if the will is contested by one of its inheritors that person will be disinherited. I believe that even though he loved his mother that he just really didn't trust his other family members to not try to take control through her. I don't want to name names but if his mother couldn't stop his dad from beating him how was she going to control anything else. At least the judge ruled that she could be informed of the goings on of the estate.

I think the executors should donate their earnings to some of the charities supported by MJ during his lifetime. These two seem to be well off to begin with why not cary on MJ's legacy. I know, greed! I hope not

      Okay, I need to rant.

I was just watching the news, and I caught part of a report on Michael Jackson. As we all know, Jackson died the other day. He was an Entertainer who performed for decades. He made millions, he spent Millions, and he did a lot of things that make him a villain to many People. I understand that his death would affect a lot of people, and I respect those people who mourn his death, but that isn't the point Of my rant.

Why is it that when ONE man dies, the whole of America loses their Minds with grief. When a man dies whose only contribution to the Country was to ENTERTAIN people, the Amercian people find the need to Flock to a memorial in Hollywood, and even Congress sees the need to Hold a "moment of silence" for his passing?

Am I missing something here? ONE man dies, and all of a sudden he's a Freaking martyr because he entertained us for a few decades? What About all those SOLDIERS who have died to give us freedom? All those Soldiers who, knowing that they would be asked to fight in a war, Still raised their hands and swore to defend the Constitution and the United States of America. Where is their moment of silence? Where Are the people flocking to their graves or memorials and mourning over Them because they made the ultimate sacrifice? Why is it when a Soldier dies, there are more people saying "good riddance," and "thank God for IEDs?" When did this country become so calloused to the Sacrifice of GOOD MEN and WOMEN, that they can arbitrarily blow off Their deaths, and instead, throw themselves into mourning for a "Pop Icon?"

I think that if they are going to hold a moment of silence IN CONGRESS For Michael Jackson, they need to hold a moment of silence for every Service member killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. They need to PUBLICLY Recognize every life that has been lost so that the American people Can live their callous little lives in the luxury and freedom that WE, Those that are living and those that have gone on, have provided for Them. But, wait, that would take too much time, because there have Been so many willing to make that sacrifice. After all, we will never Make millions of dollars. We will never star in movies, or write hit Songs that the world will listen too. We only shed our blood, sweat And tears so that people can enjoy what they have.

Sorry if I have offended, but I needed to say it. Remember these five words the next time you think of someone Who’s serving in the military; "So that others may live..."

this is from a soldier on his third tour in iraq and he so right

Randy, welcome back. Hazlett, a longer vacation would be appreciated. MJ - crap. Abdul - being reported by everyone. No scoop - just poop. I understand - just got back from vacation and needed something.. you're usual m.o. - no research, no insight (your opinion does not matter). What a revelation you came up with though - you are waiting for the news that a deal got done with Paula - WOW!. Hazlett - do you think MJ did drugs? There's your poop for tomorrow. Now go suck whoever's face you are at MSNBC - because this work you have done should be rewarded with reflective value - $0. Why can't I rate this crap a 0?

Enjoyed the column. Good info. on the executor fees for MJ's estate, etc. Not sure why some of these other commenters are so bitter. I feel kinda bad for them.

Michael Jackson did not name his mother as an administrator of his estate,so the court was following his wishes. The lawyers are qualified to settle the estate properly;pay off his debts and distribute what money is left. I'm sure they'll make certain his children are provided for. Considering that Katherine and Joe are still married and how controlling and money hungry Joe is ,it's better if Katherine isn't an administrator. I think the judge made the right call.

Interesting, moving it from money hungry Joe to money hungry lawyers. I would say let it stay with Joe. At least it stays in the family.

Courtney, I cant start to imagine how you can sit down and still write a column on this. It's gone, it's over. It's as bad as the Sanford business, let it go for Pete's sake. My thoughts are. there are people out there with No Job and No Wage, but you choose to put out old stuff like this and Get Payed For It. GO AWAY.

Frankly, about Paula Abdul....every season it's the same thing...is she coming back or not...who cares? I think this show has run it's course. Look at who won last season..I can't even remember his name. The runner up (Adam Lambert) was the winner as far as I'm concerned!! I could care less if he is gay or not....I'm not trying to sleep with him...I just like his performances. And that other female judge...what is her name....she is the one who should go...she is most annoying. That song she wrote was the worst!!

I, for one, would never pay a dime to see Michael Jackson's brothers in concert. They are just trying to make some money while there is all the publicity about Michael's death.

They are sick gold diggers, and they can't sing or dance. Michael was the only entertainer in that family, and if they think they can put on a show without him, they are sadly mistaken.

A memorial service is "what Michael would have wanted"......WTF?????? If that's what he really would have wanted then wow, what an egotistical bastard he was. Did he really think the world evolved around him? I couldn't care less about him or his music. The ones who want a memorail concert are the family and the people who were involved in the concerts he was going to do in the UK.......I'm sorry I laugh everytime I think about those concerts......and I laugh even more about the fools who actually paid money for concerts that anyone with half a brain knows were never going to happen. Anyway, I'm sure there will be people foolish enough to pay good money to watch the talentless Jackson 4 put on a show.....LOL !!!!!!!!!!!

anything that is done to honor the memory of Michael Jackson will be done more for its money making abilities than to honor any memory. They will milk this like a fat cow until there's nothing left to milk. All in the memory of Michael. "We're doing this for the fans" Yeah...right!
