Talbot's names Pfeiffer chairman of board

HINGHAM — Retailer Talbots Inc. said Tuesday that Gary Pfeiffer has been named chairman of the company's board.

Pfeiffer, who is the company's current independent lead director, replaces Tsutomu Kajita, who will continue on as director on the board.

Kajita works for Aeon, which has long been a majority stakeholder in the clothing company and is now also a major creditor for the company. The company said its board felt it was important to name an independent director as its chair.
