Scoop: Jackson’s veins weren’t IV friendly

LOS ANGELES, CA - SEPTEMBER 03: In this handout photo provided by Harrison Funk/The Jackson Family, Katherine Jackson and Joe Jackson attend Michael Jackson's funeral service held at Glendale Forest Lawn Memorial Park on September 3, 2009 in Glendale, California. Jackson, 50, the king of pop, died at UCLA Medical Center after going into cardiac arrest at his rented home on June 25, 2009 in Los Angeles, California. — Michael Jackson was using propofol, an anesthetic administered by IV, so frequently that he came to depend on it as “sort of an alarm clock,” according to Associated Press reports.

A toxicology report will be necessary to confirm Jackson’s use of the drug, but his personal nurse and nutritionist Cherilyn Lee weighed in and said that although Jackson asked her for the drug, too, she never witnessed him accept it or any other IV drugs.

However, she did say that actually getting the IV started for Jackson would be difficult because it was hard to find a vein. “What I knew for a fact was he had very small veins. When I met him and did his blood work he said, ‘Don’t feel bad because I have tiny squiggly veins, sometimes it takes 30 minutes to an hour to find my veins,’ ” Lee said.

It didn’t take Lee that long to get blood drawn from Jackson, but she said she did have trouble. “It did take multiple sticks. He was good about it, though.”

Keeping tabs: People gets ‘Saved’
“Saved by the Bell” held zero appeal for me when it was on. The only lasting impact the show had on me was to serve as a reference point for mocking one of my closest friends for having an antiquated cell phone. “Zach Morris called, he’s looking for his phone,” I’d say of her bricklike communication device.

So it seems like a risk to me that People would orchestrate a cast reunion and put it on the cover. The show ran from 1989 to 1993, which means the show’s core fan base is now in their 30s, which skews a little young for the average People customer.

People also teases stories about “Bachelorette,” Jillian Harris and Michael Jackson, so there’s probably something for everyone.

And there’s this: The other magazines aren’t offering much of value: Kim Kardashian’s heartbreak on Life & Style; In Touch’s “exclusive” breakdown of the dream weddings of Penelope Cruz, Rachel Bilson and Anne Hathaway (who isn’t even engaged); a sad, dejected Jessica Simpson on Us; and in Star, Jon Gosselin’s Hampton’s weekend with former Star reporter Kate Major. It’s a slow week, but it’s probably People’s to win on the newsstand.

What's Wrong With Hazlett's Column Today:

1. MJ - AGAIN. Oh, oo, MJ's got "tiny, squiggly veins." Wow. It's like OJ w/my morning coffee. It's like fresh strawberries with my shortcake. No, that doesn't quite capture the essence of this post. It's more like - steam off a freshly-minted moose turd - that's it. The whole MJ nutritionist is old news. The only thing new is "tiny squiggly veins?" Uh, OK.

2. Old cell phones. And the point of this post was/is - I didn't think so. There is no point.

2a. Magazines. We don't care what tabloid trash is talking about. It is fitting however for your effort for today.

"F" Hazlett. You didn't even try today, so you get an "F." If you have nothing to write - SAY SO. Write an Onion-type column. STOP with this trite, shallow, worthless crap.

BRING ME THE HEAD OF VAL KILMER FOR NOT PAYING MORE THAN $500,000.00 IN BACK FEDERAL TAXES.

I could EAT pen and paper and PUKE a better column.

Randy from Maine.

Mr Investigator

None of this is news, not a single sentence. I am so tired of this MSNBC website. It is full of nothing but tabloid type journalism and most of it extremely bias and one sided.

Who is tending to the store at this organization, Ryan Seacrest, Billy Bush or any one of those stupid TV show hosts?

This is Bull@!$%#!

It's a slow week for the rag mag's???? Yet, here you are "reporting" on it along with the yet again, medical condition of Michael Jackson. Why both to even post when this is all you have??

I'll give you a hint: Michael Jackson is DEAD!!!!! It's already abundantly clear that he had mental issues regarding his medical care. WE GET THAT! We know that. Enough already!!!!! Just like Anna Nicole, everyone knew that he kept "yes-men" and people that would allow his habits just for the sake of being in Michael's entourage. It WAS a sad deal; but, ITs OVER!!!

Report on something worthwhile or not report at all!!!!! At least don't point out the fact that your 'print competitors' have nothing to talk about. GEEZ, Neither do you!!!!

Enough already!! We don't need to know the state of MJ's veins.

      Give it a rest!!

My first thought this morning after I read this dribble was - unbelievable. What could possibly possess this woman to regurgitate this nonsense. I mean all she is doing is well... nothing. MJ and magazine covers - this is a prime example of why America is in trouble - we waste a lot. Every bit of energy it took to put this information together was a waste - the computer she turned on, the food she used to power her body (i do not believe she has a mind) and the internet that she sends this crap over. When I see Hazlett on TV you realize two things: she is trying to make like this thoughtfull, intelligent, news reporter and 2). even she doesn't believe it. Just like anyone else Hazlett's moment in the sun makes her feel good sorta until she remembers she has nothing to give to anyone (except the person she's boning at MSNBC). Her trauma knowing what she is really doing has got to be painful. But it can't be as painful as what she inflicts on us. One day she'll be unemployed (hopefully soon) and like I have said many times before - I'd love to receive a double cheese burger and fries from her at a McDonalds drive through one day. Why can't I rate this crap a 0?

Starbuck, drink your $4 coffee and shut up. We rail against this nonsense because we want it gone. Now you are on the list of me wanting you gone too. We resent what this website "misrepresents" and we have a right to discuss it. If you don't like it - tough. And also - sticks and stones will break my bones but names (especially squirrel) will never hurt me.

This is what msn wants, responses to it's ridiculous stories. if they get no responses, it doesn't stay up and they might put something here that would be worthshile and newsworthy.

Did I ever indicate that you didn't have a right to express your freedom of speech like you have mine?
