CHICAGO — An 86-year-old Chicagoan who's been arrested more than 60 times pleaded guilty to the latest charge against her after being accused of stealing wrinkle cream and other items from a grocery store.

Ella Orko was arrested Aug. 2 after authorities say she stuffed $252 worth of items into her pants, including cosmetics, salmon, batteries and instant coffee.

Orko had been charged with felony shoplifting, but that was reduced to a misdemeanor in exchange for her guilty plea Monday.

Judge Marvin Luckman sentenced her to two days in jail, which is what she's already served.

I've been locked up in jail for about 3 hours at one time in my younger days and it was like tourture. So I can't begin to comprehend how someone can constantly go in and out of jail like it's a holiday inn. This lady, obviously, is a career criminal who refuse to give up her life of crime. Sad......

She may have needed room and board, or perhaps medical care. I have pondered the same scheme. After a brain aneurysm in the family, the money is gone. The VA doesn't want to help because I still have $5K remaining.

Some people who have been in the prison system so much begin to see prison life as normal and the outside free life as scary. Plus with no healthcare or money, you are right Johnny.

Some people never learn and some can not handle life outside of jail.

I know the jazz about "you did the crime now you have to pay the time," and yet I feel bad. She's an old lady, you don't put an old 86 year old lady in prison. I guess I'm just a sucker for the elderly.

Being elderly does not excuse her behavior. She is MORE than old enough to know better. If she didn't want to go to jail she shouldn't have taken anything.

But it does make me wonder.......Does she have some kind of mental deficiency?

Here's me getting stuck on a nitpicky little detail, but that's a lot of stuff she was trying to hide in her pants. I'd love to have seen what $252 worth of groceries in her pants looked like.

Are you SURE she's a woman??!!??

I say give her the cream if she's that motivated.

HELL she's probably been using it for years & needs rehab to get the orangutan off her back

You'd think with all those years of experience, she'd be better at it.

This reminds me of that Seinfeld episode when Jerry found out his parents shoplift all the time and they tell him that all the retired people do it - especially batteries - no one buys batteries any more.

      Yikes!
