Bombardier cancels Italian jet order

TORONTO — Bombardier Aerospace has canceled an order from Italy's My Air for 15 of its CRJ1000 aircraft because the carrier faces uncertainty.

My Air initially ordered 19 of Bombardier's CRJ900 regional jets in 2006, and four were delivered. The Italian airline later upgraded its order for the remaining aircraft to Bombardier's CRJ1000.

Bombardier says in a statement that their decision comes as the air carrier faces an "uncertain situation."

Italy's civil aviation authority suspended My Air's license last month due to financial troubles at the airline.

The orders would have been worth about $750 million Canadian ($680 million) to Bombardier.
