Scoop: Is Megan Fox a flop as ‘It Girl’?

“Transformers” actress takes aim at blockbuster success and holding onto her sexiest woman alive status.

— Despite being deemed an “It Girl” by Nylon magazine, Megan Fox tells the publication she thinks she’s “really overexposed.”

This revelation, unlike other recent ones like her hatred of dry paper and fear of the dark, might be totally logical.

Fox’s newest film, “Jennifer’s Body,” has only made $12.3 million in the two weeks since its release, a sum made all the more paltry by the fact it’s had a rather wide release in 2,738 theaters. And when you add Fox, an actress wildly popular among the male crowd, to a horror flick, a genre with big appeal to teens, it should be box office gold.

If “Jennifer’s Body” had done well, Fox would have gotten most of the credit as she was the center of the film’s marketing campaign. Her co-star, the immensely talented Amanda Seyfried, was largely ignored. And it’s not like Seyfried hasn’t proven herself on the big screen — “Mamma Mia” has grossed more than $609 million worldwide. Fox’s “Transformers” has done slightly better, but one symbiotic relationship with a film franchise does not an “It Girl” make. Apparently.

The FCC moment during the Sept. 26 season premiere of “Saturday Night Live” might have been the best thing that’s happened to Fox. She wasn't the one who swore on air, but it drew attention to the show she was hosting.

Perhaps now would be a good time to take a break until she can transform herself with the right role.

India eats and prays with, sort of loves Julia Roberts
Just days ago, Julia Roberts was being praised in the Indian press for being so accessible while in India to film “Eat, Pray, Love.”

She was hailed for drinking chai and walking the streets with locals, and some news outlets wrote that the country preferred Roberts over Angelina Jolie, who filmed “A Mighty Heart” in India in 2006 (both “Eat Pray Love” and “A Mighty Heart” are both products of Brad Pitt’s Plan B production company).

Apparently not everyone agrees. The Times of India reported that locals are upset by restrictions placed on a temple where filming is taking place.

"They are allowing entry in the temple only between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. in the morning and 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. in the evening,'' Renu Singh told the newspaper.

Said another local who spoke to the Times: “I went to the temple this morning but was turned away by security guards. It is really bad that even devotees are being barred from entering the Ashram.”

Feast at the weekend box office
You can buy a lot of meatballs with $24.5 million dollars, which is what “Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs” brought in over the weekend.

A second straight week at No. 1 speaks to the demand for family-friendly fare at the movies, but also the power of the premium ticket cost — thanks to the film’s 3D and IMAX distribution, “Cloudy” also earns the title of highest-grossing September animation release.

Behind it: “Surrogates” was No. 2, with $15 million, and the remake of “Fame” was third, with a total take of only $10 million.

SNL was the first time I've seen Megan Fox.

I don't get what the hoopla is about. She kinda looks like Jennifer Connely, but uglier. Connely was never even close to an "it girl".

The swear was funny though. I wasn't sure if I'd heard it right until now.

What's Wrong With Hazlett's Column Today.

1. Fox. You made me chuckle Hazlett. But not for the reasons you think. First off - NYLON magazine? You cut-and-pasted, and you're quoting from NYLON MAGAZINE? YOU think she's overexposed? YOU think it's "totally logical?" HA! WhoTF cares what you think when it comes to a "story" in (excuse me while I chuckle) NYLON MAGAZINE? Do you owe the publisher a favor or what. And finally - you say:

Perhaps now would be a good time to take a break until she can transform herself with the right role.

Try this on. I think this shoe fits - you should wear it:

Perhaps now would be a good time to take a break until I can transform myself with the right career.

2. Roberts. What does this have to do with Julia Roberts? It's not like SHE closed the temple. The production company did. Maybe you should have pointed that out. And, did they close the temple, or the Ashram? One is a place of worship, one is a religious community. A temple can BE in an Ashram, but fitting an Ashram in a temple would be difficult. See, when you copy other people's work, sometimes you leave questions unanswered, like you've done here.

3. Weekend Box Office. Oh, how witty (yawn). You can buy a lot of meatballs $24.5M, etc. Funny stuff, Hazlett.

Come on Hazlett - you LEAD your Monday column with a cut-and-paste. From NYLON Magazine! Err, OK - I give you a "C-" for this effort. But hey - better than Chris Brown/Jon&Kate! A better week this week, Hazlett? Let's hope so.

BRING ME THE HEAD OF PAM ANDERSON FOR NOT PAYING $1.2M TO CONTRACTORS WHO WORKED ON HER HOUSE.

I could EAT pen and paper and PUKE a better column.

Randy207 - Im not sure why her column is such a big deal to you that you feel the need to berate her column on a regular basis.

Did she kill you mother? Just asking..

Ironically you always end your rants with a copy/pasted:

"I could eat pen and paper and puke a better column."

This quote is irrelevant (on top of not witty), considering this is the 21st century.

Give it a rest and try blogging...

Friend me if you like!

Funny, I thought the same, though she may be a couple of inches taller than Demi.

Megan Fox, though obviously quite pretty is a ditz. And as we all know, we have enough of those running around Hollywood.....elsewhere too, I'm certain. So, maybe the America public is ready to pass on another pretty airhead and would be receptive to someone with some intelligence.

Um how the heck can it be seen by teens when its rated R theis has got to be the most unthinking writer in history.Had they toned it down and rated it PG 13 you would have seen a way better box office posting since the teens would have been able to see it.

Possibly but, I remember my theater never paid that much attention to the R rating growing up. There were only a couple of movies (I think 8mm was one) where they actually carded people at the ticket stand. Honestly, Jennifer's Body just looked crappy, even by horror genre standards...

I fail to see the attraction of Megan Fox. Yes, she's gorgeous but then gorgeous women are a dime a dozen in Hollywood. In 5 years, she'll be headlining her own reality show.

I thinks she's horrible. I love to see men and women of class, taste and dignity. I can not take any woman seriously who has to take her clothes off under the direction of the movies, or managers or of other people. Selling sex is still prostitution, and screwing is still porn - no matter how you want to pretend it isn't. Just falling down the rabbit hole and this person is a boar.

Megan Fox's good looks will be her downfall. She'll never be taken seriously as a actress

Megan Fox, while being pretty, is way over-rated & over-paid. I heard some compare her to Angelina Jolie & she doesn't even begin to come close. We need to stop raising these 1 movie stars to such heights...they are not any better than we are.

Exactly what is an 'IT' girl?? Hell, I've got 'it' and I'm regular working stiff.

Megan Fox will never be taken seriously, She may look good now, but celebrity fit club is just around the corner! She can't act and when the next airhead bimbo emerges in Hollywood she will be forgotten like last weeks news. She made one decent movie and the morons in Hollywood think she's the next Meryl Streep!! I give her another year and her star will have faded enough that she will do Playboy just for the money!!
