— SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Notre Dame traveled to San Antonio, Texas to face Washington State in an offsite home game and left behind all the drama of the Irish's last six games, which were all decided by seven points or less. This time the Irish were able to cruise to a 40-14 win over the Cougars in the Alamodome.
Heisman hopefuls Jimmy Clausen and Golden Tate both had big days for Notre Dame, pacing the potent Irish offense. Clausen was 22-for-27 for 268 yards and two touchdowns before exiting once the game was well in hand. Tate racked up numbers through the air and on the ground, hauling in four receptions for 81 yards and a touchdown and carrying the ball four times for 61 yards and another score.
