Clinton: Would look forward to coffee with Palin

advertisement

WASHINGTON — Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton says she would be happy to talk to Sarah Palin over coffee.

In an interview for broadcast Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press," Clinton says she's never met the one-time GOP vice presidential hopeful and former Alaska governor and thinks it would be very interesting to sit down and talk with her.

Clinton was responding to a question about a passage in Palin's new book. Palin writes that if she and Clinton ever meet for coffee, "I know that we would fundamentally disagree on many issues." But Palin says, "my hat is off to her hard work on the 2008 campaign trail."

Clinton, in Singapore for a meeting of world leaders, says she's ready to have a cup of coffee and maybe she could make a case on some of the issues on which the two women disagree.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

So Palin wants Levi Johnston to come over for Thanksgiving, and now Clinton wants to sit down to coffee with Sarah Palin? What's next? Will Obama invite Orly Taitz and Philip Berg over for a beer, or will Khalid Sheikh Mohammed invite Dick Cheney on a hunting trip?

It would be a pretty one sided talk. Clinton would once again show she knows what she's talking about, and Sarah Palin...well...she'd start blaming the "cold coffee" on her inability to come up with a cogent sentence.

I think if Cheney were invited to the middle east, he'd do as he did in the late 60's, and decline, citing that his "interests lie elsewhere".

Someday Cheney's secrets will come to light, but he'll never quite be trusted by the majority of Americans. We'll always believe there are more secrets he's hiding.

It's a sad legacy, but one of his own making.

Utter, complete, absolute drivel...that with the train-wreck of a current Administration that someone would STILL be babbling about the previous Administration, as a distraction, is absurd.

The reason Bush is so talked about is because its taking so long to dig out from the avalanche he left us under. Ironic, George, how most of the right still talk about and try to blame Bill for so much, including the economic disaster brought about by the previous train-wrecking Bush & Co. That's called denial.

To refer to comments regarding the previous administration as "utter, complete, absolute drivel" and "babbling" seems odd in the face of Cheney ( and other tag-teaming G.O.P. Capos ) running around the country in recent months "babbling" about president Obama's policies and actions, don't you think? I mean, after all, he's from the PREVIOUS ADMINISTRATION.

Would you refer to fire investigator's work in a burned out building as "utter, complete drivel"?? I guess you would, if you were defending those who set the fire.

        ( good point sweetness )

It would be a nice gesture and I would love to hear what these two remarkable ladies would talk about. For sure Clinton would know what she's talking about, hands down.

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe Hillary can borrow one of Bills "Do not distrurb" signs, so Sarah and her can have a "Private" conversation.

I bet Mrs. Sarah Palin does not even realize the joke that Sec. Clinton just made of her. She is probably thinking, well it is about time somebody takes me seriously!

I'd like to sit in on this coffee with Hillary and Palin. It would have to be interesting, and when you set aside political ideology, they probably have much more in-common than most of us would like to admit.

All of you better hope that they don't "hit it off", because these two could start a whole new movement. Next thing you know, we'd all be paying reparations to women, and they'd all "cut us off" until we agree.

These two chicks are both dangerous and beloved. Fear that combination.
