WHEAT RIDGE — A billboard showing President Barack Obama wearing a turban has sparked a lot of attention at the suburban Denver used car dealership that put it up.

The sign, completed Friday by artist David Lee, shows a grinning, cartoonish Obama and bears the words "PRESIDENT or JIHAD?"

Underneath the president's image is a big yellow square with the phrase, "BIRTH CERTIFICATE, PROVE IT!"

The words "WAKE UP AMERICA! REMEMBER FT. HOOD" appear at the bottom of the billboard at Wolf Interstate Leasing and Sales, about seven miles west of Denver. The sign is visible from Interstate 70.

Lee said there were plenty of honks as he painted it.

"One lady came by and gave me the 'shame, shame' look," said Lee, of Arvada, another suburb of Denver.

Dealership owner Phil Wolf was unavailable for comment Friday, but General Manager Wayne Means said the business has seen strong opinions about its sign.

"We've had people come by and say, 'Keep it up.' We've had people come by and say, 'Take it down,'" Means said. "We can have differences of opinion. This is America."

The left-leaning advocacy group MoveOn.org called the billboard "racist" and was asking customers to boycott the dealership.

Lee said the billboard has previously held other slogans questioning the president's citizenship, along with routine ads for cars.

He may be the President, but he is LEGALLY the President? McSame showed his Birth Certificate, why didn't Obama? A Certificate of Live Birth is NOT the Birth Certificate. I had my daughter in a foreign country, so she also has a Certificate of Live Birth. I don't think it's unreasonable for President Obama to have to prove his citizenship, it is a Constitutional REQUIREMENT. There is nothing racist in his billboard. I think liberals are way to eager to use the race card. It's like crying wolf now...it means nothing anymore. He was elected by the a majority of the votes. The only racist now is those that scream racism without cause.

Yes, the shadowy cabal of conspirators who used their powerful connections and vast resources to get a foreign citizen elected President of the United States so he could destroy the country from the inside could never possibly forge a satisfying birth certificate. Certainly, no one would be able to question the legitimacy of this magical document and everyone's fears would be settled... unless there was a hereto unknown second conspiracy behind the forgery! Oh my god. The rabbit hole is deeper then any of us suspected!

"Freedom of speech. What he is doing isn't illegal.. so big deal. Who cares. You have the right to make yourself look stupid."

Freedom of speech is not so simple, Simplistic; it cuts both ways, People have a right to exercise their free speech by criticising and even making a big deal about some one who exercises their freedom of speech in a filthy racist manner, like those low life scumbags, that put up that obviously racist billboard.

Freedom of speech is not so simple, Simplistic; it cuts both ways.

1st Amendment makes it pretty clear and our current laws in place. He didn't yell "fire in a theather", "didn't threaten the POTUS life", didn't write "I hate Jews and wish they would all burn in hell". etc etc. Those type of behavior and speech is unacceptable and he wouldn't be immune it very well. What he wrote on the sign isn't a violation of anything. Just as if I wrote a sign saying "I think Obama is the anti-christ, cows are aliens, and the moon is made out of cheese". People might hate it... might think im crazy.. stupid.. ignorant.. whatever. But its perfectly legal and I would be well within my 1st Amdendment right. Just like movies, papers, etc, etc are protected as well. Movie could be 100 percent racist. Yet they not going to court are they? right? Even if it IS stupid. To quote a famous person... "I might not like what you have to say, but I'll defend your right to say it". That's all I'm trying to make a point of. You might not like... but big deal. Everyone has a different of opinion and just because you think your right doesn't automaticly mean you are.

I support Free Speech 100%!!!

That said, when we exercise our right to Free Speech, we absolutely must understand that there are consequences. If, for example, business at this car dealership falls, I don't want to hear the owner whining about how he doesn't have Free Speech.

This reminds me of Prejean, the beauty contestant in CAlifornia. Absoloutely she had a right to speak her mind, and absolutely others were free to disagree.

Let's just keep everything peaceful!

You missed the whole point of my response on post #1.6 Simplistic, I was not disputing their free-speech right to say what ever racist crap that comes out of their filthy racist minds.

When I said:

"Freedom of speech is not so simple, Simplistic; it cuts both ways."

"...it cuts both ways." means that while they have a right to their free speech, I and anyone else has a right to use our free speech to criticise their free speech if it is wrong or stupid, which is the case here so I criticised it.

Do you understand what I meant now simplistic? It's really very simple. ]:-)~

The only reason as to why I'm replying to your statement is: If you know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savour, truly know Him, then you wouldn't reply as you did...

All I can do as the Word teaches me (all) is to Pray for the enemy... and if our Hearts are Sincere, then He our Lord Jesus will take hold of the matter and bring it to His Father in Heaven...

At this point, we did our job... and Jesus will do the rest... amen!

That's a very reasonable post Simplistic, that might sound strange to you but it is rare these days to get an honest and reasonable response. A lot of poster's are ideological and cannot see anything but their ideology, even if it's wrong. It is refreshing to encounter some one who is willing to look at things honestly and to see the other point of view. Honorable behaviour is rare indeed and much appreciated when encountered.

Even the communist Chinese say that his health bill costs too much and they are concerned that the great U.S.A. will not be able to pay them (the Chinese) all the money that we owe them

How is this racist. Is says nothing about his race...

    http://wordnetweb.princeton.edu/perl/webwn?s=racist

    Noun

    • S: (n) racist, racialist (a person with a prejudiced belief that one race is superior to others)

    Adjective

    • S: (adj) racist (based on racial intolerance) "racist remarks"
    • S: (adj) racist, antiblack, anti-Semite (discriminatory especially on the basis of race or religion)

The billboard equates Obama being a "Muslim" with being responsible for the mass murder at Fort Hood. Obviously Wolf feels that all Muslims are terrorists. The fact that Obama is a Christian doesn't seem to enter into Wolf's logic. Wolf obviously feels he is superior to Obama based on religion (even if the link he is using is illogical) and I think it is safe to assume he feels superior based on race since that seems to be the underpinnings of the entire birther movement.

Why is Obama depicted as a Jihadist Muslim or whatever the intent is with stunts of this nature and the same kinds of guys who fund billboards and other media such as this absolutely LOVED Bush? I pray someone tell me? Doesn't anyone remember the clearly unadulterated pics and footage of Bush holding hands with and kissing Prince Abdullah? Imagine the scandal if Obama did exactly the same. All Obama needs to do is to bow to some Japanese dude and people all over America are offended. I'll bet Bush senior bowed to the Japanese right before he puked all over them. I'm I the only one who sees this as a text book definition of hypocrisy? Seriously can anyone really find anything wrong with Obama other than unfounded allegations of his birth certificate or disagreements with his policies and ideas? Even if he is a Muslim, is that alone a crime or high treason? I'd say wingnuts are grasping at straws because the Dems have done what was though impossible before Obama was nominated and later elected... they found someone with virtually zero baggage or skeletons in his/her closet and this drives the GOP CRAAAZZZZYYY!!!!!!

I hate to break it to you but Obama didn't bow to some Japanese dude. He bowed to...wait for it...King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia. It was at the G20 summitt in London. Nice try though. Maybe try reading or even watching the news before you make an a** of yourself. Hearing the news from your drunk friends doesn't look like it's paying off for you.

Think about it for a minute. Do you suppose that the fool who put up this sign really thinks that Obama is a Jihadist? Or...do you think that he did it for attention? Probably the latter. You see he most likely understands that there are many people out there whose entire understanding of current events is contained in sound bites. Do you think anyone would pay any attention to him if he put up a sign that said "I don't like Obama"? The answer is no. However, if he calls him a Jihadist, people like you will become outraged and it makes national news. Now, go read the paper.

You have to look at the motivations of the majority of the birthers to understand why they simply cannot "let go". Fundamentally, it comes down to the following mindset: "I cannot accept THAT man in the White House because.... (fill in the blank)."

Just about ANY reason will do -- any excuse that will legitimize their race-based outrage. If it wasn't about a birth certificate, it would be about his middle name. (He's a closet Muslim, you know.)

In addition, there are a handful of unscrupulous politicians and pundits who, although not necessarily racist themselves, have no problem capitalizing on the bigotry of others by fueling their fear and hatred of Obama in order to score political points or further a personal agenda.
