BRUSSELS — The European Union has approved the proposed $1.17 billion takeover of Florida-based staffing firm MPS Group Inc. by Switzerland's human resources company Adecco SA.
The EU Commission said Friday the acquisition of one of the largest U.S. temporary staff companies by Adecco "would not significantly impede effective competition" in Europe. It said there was some overlap in Britain, but added the market had enough remaining competitors to assure fair conditions.
The acquisition should be completed in the first quarter of 2010.
