SECOND MESA — Police say a teenage girl accidentally ran over and killed her 17-year-old brother as the two played around in an Arizona shopping mall parking lot.

Mesa Police spokesman Ed Wessing on Sunday identified the brother as Dwight J. Brock Jr. and his sister as 16-year-old Nicole M. Brock, both residents of Mesa.

Wessing says the sister had dropped off her brother at Superstition Springs Mall Saturday evening. And then they started playing around, with the brother jumping in front of the car and the sister slamming on the brakes.

The last time that happened the sister was unable to stop and ran over the brother.

He was rushed to a hospital in critical condition and later pronounced dead.

When young adults are taught to drive they MUST also be taught how deadly a weapon a vehicle is, how dangerous any kind of 'playing around' is, and be mentally able to shoulder the responsibility of a 2 ton vehicle that does 80-90 mph (or more). Teach them accidents can happen with a vehicle simply in gear, not necessarily speeding.. Horseplay has NO business around vehicle, and sadly, this young girl learned that the hard way. TEACH your children safety and responsibilityBEFORE they are handed the keys to a vehicle!

You know, not all teenage girls are good drivers.

They were probably sharing the family brain and it was neither of their turns.
