— Want to help victims of the earthquake in Haiti? Aid organizations say cash donations are best. Here are some that are accepting donations:

— InterAction has a list of agencies responding and how to donate. Find it here: http://www.interaction.org/crisis-list/earthquake-haiti

— To donate $10 to the American Red Cross, text Haiti to 90999. The amount will be added to your next phone bill. The organization is also accepting donations through its International Response Fund, http://www.redcross.org

— To donate to the United Nations World Food Programme, which is planning to distribute ready-to-eat meals to 2 million people in Haiti, visit http://www.wfp.org

— To find out how to help the International Rescue Committee, visit http://www.theIRC.org or call toll free, 1-877-REFUGEE.

— To donate to Doctors Without Borders, which is also treating earthquake victims, go to http://www.doctorswithoutborders.org

— To donate through Oxfam's emergency appeal, visit http://www.oxfam.org.uk

— To donate to Partners in Health, which was already providing health care in Haiti and is now working on relief efforts, visit http://www.pih.org. The group is also looking for surgeons, nurses and surgical teams who want to volunteer to help.

Thanks Calvin. Clipped to Disaster Newsgroup.

I just saw President Bill Clinton, Special Envoy to Haiti, appealing for cash donations as the fastest way to get relief to Haiti. It is a great thing that Newsvine is in the forefront of this effort.
