NEW YORK — A three-legged pitbull mix that played in a game of doggie baseball has won "Best in Show" at a talent competition held by one of New York City's largest animal shelters.

Nine dogs competed in Friday's contest at the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. But it was Prince who impressed the judging panel the most with his feat of catching three baseballs.

The nearly 2-year-old dog lost one of his legs and had a pin inserted in another after being struck by a car.

The ASPCA's senior vice president of the adoption center says Prince's disability doesn't hold him back.

Gail Buchwald says he "struts his stuff like a winner."

Kareem in my Coffee

Im with you Brit........I want to adopt every dog/cat on earth. Sam Simon (Simpsons writer) actually does this. He has tons of land (of course), adopts tons of animals and has them trained as service dogs. His life is filled with helping stray/unwanted animals. I am a true fan of his.

I didn't know that Kareem..... well done of him, and I would love to have the space to save God's Glorious Critters that do not ever judge, and ask nothing but love and care from the human race.

I would urge everyone wanting a dog to adopt, do not buy from pet stores. I have always owned rescue dogs and they are the best. Pet stores buy from puppy mills, if you must buy from pet stores, first investigate where they get their dogs. Puppy mills are growing across the country and they are an abomination, neglect and cruelty reigns. My three rescues are such a joy and so good. Most of these animals in shelters are abused, abandoned or neglected. Their behavior problems arise, not from them, but from the stupidity of humans and they CAN be turned around.
