— The Associated Press-GfK Poll was conducted by GfK Roper Public Affairs & Media from March 3-8. It was based on landline and cell phone telephone interviews with a nationally representative random sample of 1,002 adults. Interviews were conducted with 702 respondents on landline telephones and 300 on cellular phones.

Digits in the phone numbers dialed were generated randomly to reach households with unlisted and listed numbers.

Interviews were conducted in both English and Spanish.

As is done routinely in surveys, results were weighted, or adjusted, to ensure that responses accurately reflected the population's makeup by factors such as age, sex, education and race. In addition, the weighting took into account patterns of phone use — landline only, cell only and both types — by region.

No more than one time in 20 should chance variations in the sample cause the results to vary by more than plus or minus 4.2 percentage points from the answers that would be obtained if all adults in the U.S. were polled.

There are other sources of potential error in polls, including the wording and order of questions.

The questions and results for this poll are available at http://www.ap-gfkpoll. com.

"Interviews were conducted with 702 respondents on landline telephones..." In other words, 702 of the respondents were elderly people at home with nothing to do.

I have a landline ( and cellphone) ,I'm not elderly. In fact many families have landlines as well as cell phones.

I have both landline and cell phone...I'm old, but I work for a living...does my age disqualify my opinions?

The older I get, the more I realize that the things old people told me when I was younger were true.

We too have both a land line and a cell phone. We don't get cell coverage in our house, which is why we had to start carrying a land line again. And I'm not elderly, though I am home all day, with young children. I can assure you that I'm not "sitting at home with nothing to do."

How does age or occupation disqualify one's opinions on health care? What an ignorant generalization!
