Some plaintiffs spoke out in favor of the financial settlement reached with the City Wednesday, June 23, 2010, in New York, during what was called a "Fairness Hearing." NEW YORK — The judge who approved the settlement for thousands of 9/11 first responders exposed to toxic World Trade Center dust wants other defendants to join it.

U.S. District Judge Alvin Hellerstein released a statement Friday urging hundreds of other defendants to consider participating in the settlement. They include workers involved in the extensive cleanup of buildings surrounding ground zero.

The judge also extended a suspension of all of the litigation. He did not set an end date.

Hellerstein on Wednesday signed off on a deal that could pay more than $700 million to about 10,000 police, firefighters and construction workers. It still must be approved by 95 percent of the plaintiffs before becoming final.

It's about time, and ALL expenses should be paid by George W. Bush and his so corupt administration during their stay at The White House. Call me crazy if you wish, but it's MY personal belief that BUSH ( and our own government ) knew 911 was going to happen before it happened ! And now he's lined his pockets with cash along with the bozo clown Dick Cheney, and they're both " laughing all the way to the bank ". What a disgrace he ( and Bush, Sr. ) was to this great United States ! By my rights of freedom of speech, I said it years ago, and I'll say it again; " In my opinion, we NEVER had a real president called BUSH; a moron perhaps ? Yes ".
