DETROIT — Chrysler Group LLC says it has fired 13 plant workers a Detroit TV station caught drinking alcohol and smoking what appeared to be marijuana during breaks.

Chrysler manufacturing chief Scott Garberding told WJBK-TV in a Sept. 22 report that the automaker identified some of the workers from Detroit's Jefferson North plant on tape and was pursuing the others.

The automaker said then that it was suspending the workers. On Monday, Chrysler said it fired them.

In a statement, Chrysler said the workers violated its code of conduct.

Chrysler says two other workers got one-month unpaid layoffs.

That would be Ford. But it explains why thier vehicles fall apart so much. I had a ram 1500 then a dakota. They spent more time in the shop than then on the road.

I saw the video and I don't think it was that bad. I doubt that these guys were getting paid for their lunch break so they can do what they want in that half hour. Really it was more like 20 minutes that they were actually partying. Assembly line work is tough, hot, and continuous. So what if they downed a few beers and puffed a little weed in the little break they had. I used to work at a veal packing house which is basically a cow dis-assembly line and we used to do the same thing. Right now I work at a place where the plant managers go out for an hour lunch and they come back sloshed and use company credit cards to pay for their party. So I say lighten up. You cant get that screwed up in that short of time. Now if they are getting paid for their lunch half hour....then that's different.
