WASHINGTON — Former first lady Barbara Bush doesn't appear to think much of Sarah Palin's White House aspirations, saying the former Alaska governor should stick to her home state.

In an interview with CNN's Larry King scheduled for airing Monday, Mrs. Bush says she sat next to Palin once and "thought she was beautiful."

The outspoken wife of former President George H.W. Bush says Palin, who is considering a presidential run in 2012, seems "very happy in Alaska" but then adds, "I hope she'll stay there."

In an excerpt provided by CNN, both Bushes compliment their son, former President George W. Bush, on the success of his recent memoir, "Decision Points."

The former president says his son has "done a good job selling the darn thing."

Good old Babs!

A woman who is twice the man that her son and husband ever were.

You are the only Bush we will ever really miss.

Former First Ladies, like former Presidents, should have enough class to keep their mouths shut in public.... Laura Bush gassing on at the dedication of GWB's Presidential Library was equally annoying.... at somewhat greater length...as though the number of female Afghan provincial governors means squat...

Keep her mouth shut in public? One, she was in an interview. And two, freedom of speech.

I wish former half-term governors would have enough class to keep their mouths shut in public. Talk about gas.

Sometimes we get so caught up in partisanship that we can't see the simple truth. Barbara Bush appears to be above the fray though.

She probably sees what any objective person would see - that Palin lacks the ability and/or motivation to discuss many of the nation's challenges with any depth whatsoever. Palin clings to hyperbolic talking points and literally refuses to go any further.

Sean

That's a possibility - although she went out of her way to compliment Palin before dropping the implicative hammer ;)

Barb was a great 1st lady and she knows how to play this game a lot better than Sister Sarah.

Yeah, yeah, yeah...we have been hearing this same mindless crap for two years now... I assume you didn't bother to read her book, with it's reoccurring theme of the correlation between energy policy and national security..... Objective, my ass..

    @ George

Can you point me to any audio of her talking in depth about anything? Besides special needs children during the campaign, it's yet to happen.

I'm sure she wrote that whole book too...... :-P

As for your ass being objective - congratulations.

Page numbers, please? I must have missed it among all the whining about the terrible wrongs done to her during the the campaign.

While this is wel-come, I wish that Mother Bush would and should have went upside the head of her son Bush Jr. on that whole Iraq thing. Still it might carry a lot of weight on Palin to hear that from Mother Bush about trying to run for Pres.

So former first lady Barbara Bush pulled her head out of her husband's ass just long enough to be seen on Larry King. I'll plan to miss that whole bull@!$%# session with her and Larry and watch Monday Night Football!
