WATERFORD — A 2-year-old Ohio boy has died two weeks after he fell into a septic tank while the woman watching him was putting up Christmas lights.

Benson Baker, of Waterford, had been on life support at a Columbus hospital since he fell into the tank on Nov. 23. The sheriff's office in southeast Ohio's Washington County says it was notified that the child died Wednesday.

Sheriff Larry Mincks had said the woman was watching both the boy and a 3-year-old sibling, who yelled that Benson was gone. The woman found the tank with its cover partially off and the toddler inside.

Mincks tells The Marietta Times his office found no sign of foul play or criminal negligence.

The coroner's office in Columbus did not have a cause of death on Thursday.

Poor little guy. It only takes a split second for a small child to find danger. I can't imagine what his parents are going thru.
